Over the next few days, Zahra and Dimitri worked together to unravel Karina's plot. Dimitri had his men investigate her recent movements, while Zahra used her intuition to piece together the fragments of information they uncovered.
It wasn't long before they discovered the full extent of Karina's plan. She had been working with a rival Mafia group, feeding them information about Dimitri's operations in exchange for their help in taking him down. Her ultimate goal was to seize control of Dimitri's empire and eliminate anyone who stood in her way—including Zahra.
"She's more dangerous than I thought," Dimitri admitted one evening as they reviewed the latest intelligence. "If we're going to stop her, we'll need to act fast."
Zahra nodded, her resolve hardening. "What's the next step?"
"The next step," Dimitri said, "is to make sure you're safe. No matter what happens, Zahra, I won't let her hurt you."
