The Journey
The SUV's engine rumbled as we left the estate, the sun casting long shadows across the winding road. Dimitri sat in the front passenger seat, his phone pressed to his ear as he issued orders to his men. I sat in the back with two of his most trusted guards, their stoic expressions offering little comfort.
As the city faded behind us, replaced by dense forests and open fields, I couldn't help but feel like we were driving straight into the mouth of a beast. The air inside the car was thick with tension, each passing mile bringing us closer to the Venom—and the Ivanovs.
Dimitri ended his call and turned to me, his green eyes meeting mine in the rearview mirror. "When we get there, you'll stay behind the first team. They'll secure the perimeter before we move in."
"And after that?" I asked, my voice steadier than I expected.
"After that," he said, "we find the Venom."
