My eyes were wide open waiting for which of the two would throw the first punch. Aaron was also left baffled by the scene unfolding before our eyes.
I suppose the peace all the people in this bar had kept till now was about to go flying out the window. Both of them looked strong and ready to murder the other.
Then it happened. The man grabbed the beast guy by the collar and raised his hand ready to slap him.
"I ought to teach you a lesson," the man said slapping the beast guy as hard as he could.
The beast guy stood there processing that he had just been slapped in front of everyone. Not only was he hit but he was slapped, which was quite humiliating.
'Why you," he screamed clenching his fist and moving in to punch him.
Seeing the beast guys move, he blocked the attack with his left arm before throwing a blow to the beast guy's abdomen.
"Urgh."
He made noise after tanking the blow and moving backward to create distance.
He quickly clenched his side which was probably in a lot of pain.
The large man's gut punch clearly caught him off-guard. Having witnessed the whole thing, I could tell the man was fairly skilled in fighting. He had to have experience in it.
Not wanting to give the beast guy any time to recover the man quickly rushed in to finish him off with a decisive blow. However, the beast-man was ready this time and waited for the perfect moment to hurdle the man. He had successfully pulled off the hurdle sending the man flying into a table right behind them and breaking it.
And the damage has started. I could only imagine it was going to get ugly from here.
The man, dazed by charging into a table, staggered to his feet and wore a look of rage. "You're done you little punk," he shouted rushing at him once again.
This time the beast guy was not prepared and was grabbed in a tight grip by the man. I suppose the beast guy didn't think the man would get up from the table so quickly but making that mistake certainly cost him. He was slammed hard against the wall hitting it with a thud. He groaned in agony as the other man got closer ready to end it once and for all.
At this moment Aaron and I's server appeared from the back holding our drinks. Having been startled by the noise of a door opening the man was distracted for a brief second and turned his head. This moment bred an opportunity for the beast guy who quickly took advantage of it. He quickly scrambled to his feet and landed a kick straight into the man's face as he turned back around.
I had to say, I was impressed by the beast guy's situational awareness. He performed a flawlessly swift attack that was sure to do damage.
The damage was soon evident as the man stumbled to the side and tumbled to the floor. The man, feeling the full force of such an attack was down for the time being, however, the beast guy was no better off as he slumped to the floor feeling the effects of the hits he had taken.
The man was definitely the more skilled fighter however the beast guy was a more cunning fighter using many tricks to level the playing field.
Finally, after about a minute the two began to slowly pick themselves up and get ready to go back at it.
"Seriously! They are going to go for a round 2?" Aaron said in utter disbelief.
I, myself thought it was quite ridiculous to fight again in the state they were in. At this rate, one of them would suffer lifelong injuries.
Suddenly, I noticed something that was quite troublesome. Based on their fighting positions if things got too crazy, they would hit my server! She was too petrified to move and just stood still, like a stone statue.
At the same time, I saw this the beast lunged forward at the man's legs looking to tackle him. He successfully latched onto his legs causing the man to take a few steps back and tip over. The few steps the man took before losing his balance were enough to put him right in front of my server. He was going to land on top of her!
In a flash, I got up from the table and propelled myself towards her. I gritted my teeth unsure if I was going to make it in time. The girl screamed as the man's back was about to topple down on top of her.
Getting lucky I made it just in the nick of time grabbing her and rolling out from underneath the two fighting.
"Are you all right," I asked her after we were safely out of the way.
"I'll be fine," she said on the verge of fainting.
Her frail body was trembling quite a lot, and I didn't think she would be up to the task of standing.
"Well, you just wait here," I told her after helping her over to a chair on the back wall.
Turning my attention back to the action it seemed some brave souls finally decided to step up and break up the fight. Several men were now pulling them apart and holding them back from jumping on each other.
"Alright, what's going on, who are you people?" one man asked stepping up. He was rather stern-looking.
"Sir, they are from out of town," another man spoke up while coming up to the front.
"Of course they are, I know every man in the village and all of them have the decency to not fight like degenerates. So, what are your names?"
"My name is Claudes," the beast person said.
"My name is Burkley," the large man said.
"And what caused this fight exactly?" the stern-looking man questioned in a commanding tone.
"He robbed me," the man said after hearing the question. He stuck firm to his claim that he had been shouting about earlier.
"Yeah right, you accuse me with 0 proof and then go off starting a whole mess like this. You are just a worthless idiot," the beast guy interjected next to him.
"What did you call me?" the man said trying his hardest to lunge at him while being held down.
"That's enough," the man who was interrogating them said, " I don't care who started what. I want them both out of this town now. You two can solve your problems elsewhere."
"Take them away."
The men were then escorted out of the tavern and away into the cloudy night.
Seeing the situation was clear I made my way back over to the girl who had nearly been crushed by the two fighting. Aaron also made his way over. He had to stop to look disappointedly at the floor where his drink had been spilled.
"All the action is over now," I said crouching down to be at her level, " you're going to be fine."
She shook her head affirmatively at what I said but did not speak. The aftereffects of the event had her shocked.
Another server quickly approached us after all the commotion having witnessed the whole fight and her coworker nearly getting crushed.
"Thank you, for saving her," she said to me bowing graciously.
"Oh, there's no need for that. I just did what anyone would have done in such a situation.
"No, you didn't," she replied, " it takes a lot of bravery to do what you just did. I couldn't even move my legs."
"Yeah, man. I wasn't even thinking about that when I saw what happened. But you moved in a flash," Aaron said jumping in.
"Well, anyway you need to go home and take the rest of tonight off, besides the fact it is getting late," the second server said to the girl who was nearly squabbled.
"Okay," the girl finally spoke.
"Welp now that that's all wrapped up, I think I should head out as well," I told Aaron while stretching my stiff shoulders out.
"I agree with you; I'm also calling it a night."
I shook Aaron's hand and then walked out into the cool evening air. What a night of events I thought to myself. With all the commotion that went down, I was fairly tired.
"Hey, what do you think really happened between the two that started the fight? Which one do you think was telling the truth?"
I overheard people talking up ahead of me on the road.
"I have no clue at all. Best not to think about," another answered the first person's questions.
"What started the whole thing, huh," I gently said under my breath after hearing them. It was neither of their faults really. Claudes was too dignified to steal anything and felt no guilt about what happened. The man named Burkley though, had indeed been robbed but it wasn't by Claudes. It was by a man who had set up Claudes and used the commotion that followed as a distraction to get out of there. I only caught a glimpse of someone rushing out at the time because I was focused on the fight, but he had spilled a rather orange-looking drink all down his front in his uncoordinated but swift escape.
Claudes had his pride hurt and Burkley truly did lose his money, but the real culprit got away. That's just the way of the world I suppose. The evil win just as much as the righteous.
