Chereads / Tale Of A Broken World / Chapter 8 - Training.

Chapter 8 - Training.

William exited the pod and started stretching his body.

'No way I could have escaped that, No way.'

Of course, he was killed by the creature. It lunged at him- tearing his upper half off.

"William Dave.

Total: 54th out of 100.

Eliminations: 1"

"Shame. But, what more can I do?"

William started making his way out of the pod room. And right before he walked out of the door, he felt a hand being placed on his shoulder.

Looking behind him, he found that it was Mister Roberts.

"How can I help you si—"

Then, the world turned black.

***

William woke up to, an empty world of white?

Everything was white, from the ground to t he sky, and there was absolutely nothing Infront of him.

"Where the hell am I?"

A voice responded from behind him.

"Oh, you're finally awake!"

Oliver was behind him, sitting on a chair, with a leg over the other, holding—what seemed to be— a blank newspaper in his hands.

"Where are we, sir?"

"Welcome to my inner sanctuary!"

Oliver responded whit a smile on his face. William's was confused at that statement, as evident by the expression on his face.

"Why did you bring me here?"

"Well, it wouldn't be appropriate to talk about it in this scenery, would it?"

Oliver swiped his hand, and then the world changed.

They were now in a big garden, Oliver was sitting on a chair, Infront of him was a table and another chair opposite to him. On the table was there were to cups of tea.

"Come take a seat."

William took a seat and waited for Oliver to start speaking.

"You are probably wondering why I brought you here, to tell you the truth, When I first saw you, I noticed that you have alot of potential. Yet you— to be blunt— are very bad at fighting.

So I simply brought you here to train."

Oliver shrugged.

"Do I have a choice in this."

"No."

"But if we train here how will my body ben-"

"No questions."

'Asshole'

William thought.

*Boom**Splurt*

William's head exploded.

And then he 'respawned' next to the chair he was originally sitting on. His dead body, still sat on the chair, but without a head

"WHAT THE HELL!"

Although this wasn't William's first time experiencing death, it still was disorienting every single time, and when he saw his dead body, he felt like he wanted to puke, so he did.

So while William was puking his stomach out, Oliver started speaking.

"Lesson number one: Never disrespect someone who is stronger than you.

Oliver said while standing up. William started to recover.

"How did you eve-"

"Lesson number two: Never ask a man about his powers."

William glared at Oliver, but didn't want to say anything so that his head doesn't get blown up again.

"...Sir yes sir. But sir, if you want to train someone based on potential, then Ethan would have been a way better option than me."

Oliver just ignored him and started walking to an empty spot in the middle of the garden.

"Come."

William arrived Infront of him.

"Try attacking me."

William was a little confused.

"With my hands?"

"What do you think?"

Oliver responded with an annoyed expression.

"Alrighty then."

William prepared and swung with all his might at Oliver. And just as it was about to reach him, Oliver caught it and.

*Crack*

Crushed his fist.

"SHIT!"

"You're just swinging like an idiot, your attack was very easy to dodge or block, even a child would have beat you. Did you only learn shooting a gun?"

When Oliver first broke his fist, William felt a stupid amount of pain.

But, as soon as Oliver started speaking the pain just disappeared.

"Yeah, only a gun."

"How the hell did you even get accepted in the academy!

Looks like we have a lot of work to do. Luckily we have a lot of time on our hands. And as a bonus, we are unable to feel fatigued!"

"What am I going to learn, sir?"

"Well firstly hand to hand combat. Then swords, and if we have time left maybe something else."

'How long am I going to spend here!?'

Oliver just smiled.

***

Two years later.

Two men—of nearly the same height— were standing opposite to each other, only a few meters dividing them.

One with beautiful blonde hair and striking green eyes. He had a broad build and was very muscular.

The other with long raven black hair and bright red eyes. He had a straight posture, and he was not very muscular, a befitting body for a young man his age.

They were both holding swords.

William was the first to act. He rushed towards Oliver—reaching him in a matter of seconds, and swung towards the right side of his body.

But something strange occured.

The sword moved mid swing!

Originally, the swing was aimed at Oliver's chest, yet right before it reached him, it changed it's direction and went for his knee!

Oliver jumped back, yet the attack still managed to slice his knee, making him right leg useless.

"Good one!"

Oliver said, hearing that, William smiled, it was a technique Oliver teached him to use wind magic to move the sword mid-swing.

Oliver then made his first move, he jumped with his left foot towards William, and by using water magic, he made the area underneath Williams left foot turn into water, leading him to lose his footing.

Oliver reached him in less than a second, yet William still managed to react on time. He froze the water using ice magic, freezing his foot with it to regain his balance, and reacted quickly to the stab by parrying it and kicked him in the stomach with his free foot, an action which made him lose his balance again, but it still made Oliver fall and roll on the floor a few feet.

William then looked at his left foot and severed it.

"Looks like we both lost a leg, eh?"

Oliver said with a smile.

"Well I technically lost a foot not a leg."

William responded almost instantly.

"Shut the fuck up."

Oliver got up, while William was trying to get used to the pain of losing a body part.

A few seconds went by and they were both ready to go at it again.

This time, instead of one rushing at the other, they both jumped torwards each other at the same time, reaching each other in a fraction of a second.

*CLANK*

Their swords met, and due to their immense speed—which was incredibly increasing by the second— the force of their strikes meeting was insane, so insane infact, both their swords flew from their hands.

But that didn't stop them.

They exchanged countless strikes untill Oliver sent a left hook flying torwards William's face, which William blocked and head-butted Oliver.

Taking advantage of him being disoriented, William struck him on the face a few times, the got on top of him and put him in a chokehold.

Oliver kept struggling for a few minutes, and finally went limp.

William kept the position for a few more minutes, he had to make sure he was 100% dead, as he already fell for the 'acting dead's trick multiple times.

Finally letting the body go, William collapsed to the ground, barely catching his breath.

*Clap**Clap**Clap*

"You finally managed to beat me!"

Oliver appeared out of nowhere.

"Although I had to limit myself to F- rank, limited to use only one spell, and not use any tricks, you managed to win! Congratulations!"

"Piss off."

Oliver just started laughing.

"No but seriously, good job. The attack on the leg was very unexpected, and the headbutt was also very smart."

"Thank you, sir."

"So after two long years, we finally finished. Well not completely finished, there are still some training sessions left, but we are almost there."

"Yeah, will you finally tell me how much has passed in the real world?"

"About..... Two weeks."

William was shocked by the revelation.

"Two weeks?! There is barely no time until the team dungeon exhibition! And also if two weeks have passed, what the hell have we been doing for the past two weeks?!"

Oliver shrugged then said.

"While we are here, our main bodies act normally as we would do, but without us being there."

"What?"

"You wouldn't understand."

Oliver refused to elaborate further.
