"Ugh." Amber groaned in pain, as she tried adjusting to the lighting in the room, from what she sees, it looks like she is in a hospital room, receiving treatment also judging by the drip.
"How the hell-" Her words coming to a halt when she saw Dante standing in front of her.
Was he the one that brought her to the hospital?
"Why did you bring me here? Having trouble letting go?" Amber stated, her voice going cold instantly.
Was he so difficult to anger? Working with him the last few months proved otherwise, then why is he so stubborn?
"Don't get too cocky." Dante said with an equally cold expression.
"Explain why you brought me here then?" Amber asked through gritted teeth.
"I didn't, do you think dying redeems you or were you trying to play on my emotions?"
"Sorry, I've moved past that, your death will do me good, but it's letting you go easily, I want you to suffer for what you have done."
"And I want to be the reason for that suffering." He stated nonchalantly.
Amber struggled to sit up trying to say something, but then the nurse came in rushing over to her side.
"Oh you're awake, I'll ask the doctor to come check on you."
"You were out for a week, we almost gave up hope." The nurse muttered the last part, making Amber furrow her brows.
A week? It was only a cut on the wrist.
As if reading her mind, the nurse responded, "You lost far too much blood, we had to give you some blood as well."
"Oh." Amber mouthed, looking at the drip that was connected to her hand in awe.
"Did anyone call or come looking for me?" Amber asked, her family must have been dead worried.
What if they came now and saw Dante, it will be bad news, he will be able to figure out that they sent her and might take actions against them.
"Not really, the cleaner that found you just called the ambulance over and never visited, the only visitor you've had so far, is this gentleman."
"Which is very hot, by the way." She commented, whispering into Amber's ear.
Amber gave her a tight smile, her worries concerning her family eased, but still, she was disheartened at the fact they didn't even come to find her at all.
Did they even now she is missing? A week is enough for any normal family to notice but-
"Didn't you say you want to go call the doctor?" Dante reminded the nurse in a polite manner, causing her to hit her head with her palm and jump away from Amber's side.
"I'll be right back." The nurse said, her head sticking through the door before she finally left.
In her opinion, patients like Amber who tried to commit suicide needs happy people around them, and should be surrounded with things that make them happy as well.
Recollecting when she tried to contact Amber's parents and their response, the nurse shut her eyes in disbelief, shaking her head.
What kind of parents wouldn't care if their child is on the deathbed?
They were pretty pathetic in her opinion.
BACK TO THE HOSPITAL ROOM.
"What do you want from me?" Amber questioned Dante, it was obvious he sent the nurse away so as he can talk to her.
"To see you suffer." Dante said with a shrug taking out an envelope from inside his covert coat and flung it at Amber, hitting her on the face.
Amber bit her lip, trying to hold her tears before sitting up and opening the envelope.
"What is this?" She asked as she read the heading confused.
Why the hell did it read marriage contract?
"I believe you have eyes." Dante pointed out sarcastically, taking a sit on one of the chairs, crossing his legs.
Amber stared at the man, utterly confused on what is going on, but he just sat there, his powerful aura not daunting one bit.
"Why will I want to marry you? I hate you and your very existence, why will I want to be associated with something I hate?"
Amber yelled throwing the papers away, causing it to scatter about the whole room while Dante just watched with a smirk.
The smirk on his face could only terrify Amber more, as she wondered what the mad fellow would do next.
This is not how he should react, he should be angry, hell! The moment he found out she was in the hospital and escaped death, he should have arranged for her to meet with death again.
"Well, even if you disagree, your parents have very well blessed our union."
'M..y… Parents?" Amber stuttered with disbelief, it can't be possible, they would never do that to her.
"They were really nice people, but seems they did something horrible in their past life to end up with a daughter like you." Dante sneered at the ending.
From the way he spoke, it seems like he didn't meet the Talesmans, but the hired actors they hired just In case a situation, Dante wanted to meet her parents.
But even if so, the actors can't do anything without the Talesmans permission, so in actual words her parents wanted this for her.
"Oh, I forgot to mention, as they are nice so are they illiterates, you could look at the second document in that to see that you've been successfully sold to me."
"So even if you don't marry me, you are still mine."
Amber looked at the brown envelope and Dante interchangingly, there's no way that could happen.
He was just pulling her legs, there's no way her parents would give her up like that to the enemy.
Taking a deep breath, Amber's shaky hands opened the file to see the document staying peacefully in it.
She dragged it out, her heart beating faster with anticipating, she hoped he was just doing this to scare her.
That hope dashed the moment she read the first paragraph, a tear dropping unto the paper, she felt like nothing but a mere commodity at this point, as the document confirmed her to be owned by Dante, with her actually parents signature underneath it.
It was one they didn't use so frequently but she knew it like the back of her palms.
How could they? Amber thought with tears gathering her eyes.
The documents states that from now henceforth she reports to Dante for everything and anything, does all his bidding and anything he wishes, she even needs his permission to go out.
Disobedience comes with a heavy compensation price.
"Marriage is just a sweet way to put this Amber, you are nothing but a thing I own and hell will you wish to die, you'll be on the brink of it many times, but I would never give you that."
"You hear me? Never."
Even though he sat afar, the glare from his glasses got to her, her grip on the documents tightened as she stared at him red eyed.
"I'm back." The nurse entered cheerfully, immediately coming to a halt when she noticed the gloomy atmosphere and the papers on the ground.
