Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Cherry?" Kyle froze in horror; he watched as his girlfriend was getting proposed to by the wealthiest guy in college Mark Aaron. Kyle had prayed that Cherry wouldn't accept the proposal. But then he was stunned when he saw that she said yes.

"Cherry?" Kyle couldn't call out, he was still in shock that his girlfriend would ever think of betraying him, Cherry turned to see Kyle standing there with a box in his hand.

"Kyle? What the heck are you doing here?" She looked at him in surprise, she didn't know why he was here. Kyle was delivering a box of chocolates to Sea Gate Hotel, but unbeknownst to him the same room he was delivering the chocolate to his girlfriend Cherry was inside there.

"I should be asking that question, what are you doing here and why are you with him?" Kyle looked at Cherry; he wanted to know why she was there with Mark; he didn't want to believe the scene in front of him was true. He wanted to believe that it was all a joke.

"What does it look like she is doing here?" Mark said as he pulled Cherry closer, Kyle couldn't move nor say anything as rage filled his heart. He looked at Mark like a predator that was about to pounce on its prey.

"Get your damn hands off my girlfriend!" Kyle was filled with rage, he grabbed Mark by the arm, his eyes were filled with rage. Kyle wasn't going to hesitate to beat up Mark, but then Cherry spoke up.

"Let go of him! You really think that I will want to be with someone as poor as you?" Cherry stepped in between Kyle and Mark; Kyle was looking at Cherry, the words that she used to hurt him. Kyle never in a thousand years would think that Cherry would ever use such words on him.

"Why would you say such a thing? Cherry, I love you, you know that. I will give anything to make sure that I show you that I love you." Kyle was trembling, he was fighting to hold back the tears in his eyes.

"What a disgrace, and you call yourself a man? You really think that she will really survive with your love alone? You really are something else, look dude face it she has chosen to be with a wealthy and rich guy who will take care of her for the rest of her life." Mark moved closer to Kyle to size up to him.

Kyle immediately felt intimidated, he looked at Mark like a towering wall that stood in front of him. He knew that everything that Mark had said was all true, he couldn't really do anything to take Cherry back.

The only reason he was working three jobs was to make sure that he had enough to survive, Kyle was known as the college mascot for poverty. The only thing that got him into the school was simply because of the scholarship that he had gotten, but then there was no way in fifty years would Kyle be able to afford that school.

Kyle always made sure that he always stayed out of trouble, he knew that he was at the bottom of the food chain and he wanted to make sure that he didn't do anything that would make him the scapegoat to mockery.

Kyle didn't have anything of value, only the small locket he always wore aside that Kyle was the poorest kid in college. Or as they would say in Nixon College, he was at the very bottom of the food chain.

Kyle knew that no one of higher class wanted to be with him, he only had two friends that always made sure that he didn't feel oppressed by the rich folk in college. Kyle didn't want to cause trouble but then he was not going to keep quiet and watch as his emotions got used.

"I don't even know how you kept up with him as a partner, he is ridiculous." Mark mocked Kyle, of course he was the son of the richest man in the city.

No one dared say a word or do anything that would make them be seen as an enemy in the eyes of the Aaron family. The opportunity Cherry had gotten was a golden one and things didn't seem like she was going to let that opportunity slip by her. Kyle stood in front of the both of them, he couldn't move; he was petrified and couldn't really utter another word.

He was still in disbelief that Cherry would even want to break up with him.

"I really don't know how you find delight in making a lady's life difficult." Mark began walking towards Kyle, he stopped once he was face to face with him.

"Please now, I will humbly ask if there is nothing else you want to say, you are free to leave this place before you fill it up with your horrible stench." Mark tried to push Kyle, but it was to no avail Kyle stood still like a rock.

He looked Mark straight into the eye, Mark felt fear that he had never felt in his life. "What do you really think you're doing?" Mark wanted to make sure that he showed Kyle that he was the boss here.

Kyle ignored him, he wanted to speak to Cherry directly and know why she was with Mark. The same moment he was about to talk to Cherry, the news team arrived at the scene. Mark had called the channel 4 news to give a hot spicy interview about his engagement to Cherry but then it looked like they were going to have to have two spicy news for the television.

Immediately they saw the commotion there they started recording and broadcast it live for everyone to watch, Kyle had no idea that he was being broadcasted throughout the city. He walked up to Cherry; he was attempting to plead with her.

"Cherry? Please tell me what are you trying to say? I have given everything to make sure that I see you smile. You even promised to be by my side till the end, then why are you doing this?" Kyle was looking at Cherry for answers. Cherry looked at him, she stepped back and went to Mark, "Don't you get it? It's over between us."
