'There's only darkness and silence around. Apparently I'm dead. I never got to avenge my comrades. Hell, I almost killed the boss.'

But suddenly the senses began to return, Risotto began to feel warmth. He began to feel life coming back to him.

Waking up, he got to his feet and looked around. It looked like he was in a lift.

'What happened? Where am I? What is this lift and where is it taking me?' - A multitude of questions began to arise in his mind.

He decided to think back to recent events.

'The last thing I remember is the battle with the boss. I almost managed to defeat him. If it wasn't for that damned Narancha, I would have finished him off. Then I died and found myself in this lift.'

Gathering his thoughts and calming down, Risotto decided that the best solution at the moment would be to wait for the lift to arrive at its destination and proceed as the situation dictated.

When the lift doors opened he saw a tunnel filled with people of all sorts. Since he had nowhere else to go, he decided to find out where he was and what was going on.

- Take a slip, you're number 406. - Some strange looking man approached him.

Risotto didn't ask any questions and just took the slip, then some fat guy came up to him.

- Hi, I see you're new here, why did you decide to become a Hunter?

- Who's Hunter and what is this place? - Risotto asked with interest and a little disdain.

- Heh heh, you're funny. This is the place where the Hunter's exam is held. A Hunter is a profession, someone who pursues hard-to-reach goals, such as finding rare species of animals, untold treasures, exploring uncharted places, or even catching dangerous criminals. The whole world recognises their exclusivity and their extraordinary rights.

- And who are you, and why have you come to me?

- I'm just an ordinary exam participant. I'm here to meet the newcomers and help them with advice if they need it.

- I see. - Risotto didn't ask any more questions and decided to think about the information he had.

- Hey mate, do you want to try some juice? - Said the fat man as Risotto turned round to leave.

- No, I'm not interested.

- Come on, just try it, you'll like it... - The fat man suddenly grabbed his throat and collapsed to his knees, bloody blades spilling out of his mouth.

- What... Blades... But how... - There was a grimace of horror and incomprehension on the fat man's face.

- I told you clearly that I'm not interested. Helping newcomers? Yeah, right. You're pretty good at hiding your true intentions, but I can see right through you. All you can think about is doing something mean to someone. If you talk to me again, you'll die. - Risotto said with clear contempt and threat, and then went to look around.

Risotto watched the people around him. He noticed a few people that he thought were potentially dangerous or stood out from the rest. There was a blond boy who looked a bit like a girl, two boys, one with grey hair and one with spiky greenish-black hair, a man with needles on his head, and a clown with bright pink hair who everyone else was most wary of. There were a few others who looked a little more imposing than the others. The rest looked like normal people.

'We need to consider the information we have. It seems that I've travelled to another world after I died. It's hardly our world, the way we speak, dress, all of it suggests that it's most likely another world. At least it's not Italy, these people are not stylish enough for Italians. However, the final conclusion can be made when I get out of this tunnel into the open world. I wonder if I've been sent here by some higher power. Or maybe there is no paradise, and rebirth in other worlds is the true life after death? Or maybe this is the work of an enemy booth? Well, it doesn't matter now. What's important is that my booth is still with me in this world, which means I can stand up for myself. And these Hunters, they must be a respected profession to have such a large number of people taking this exam. And it looks like I'll have to take it with them too, since I have nowhere else to go.'

Suddenly, a man with lavender coloured hair came out from somewhere.

- As of this moment, I hereby declare that the recruitment of participants is complete. I am Satoz, the examiner of the first stage. I will guide you to the second stage.

'Hmm, if we're going to stage two now, that means stage one is probably

'is either happening right now, or it's about to start. But what is the challenge of the first stage?'

- Follow me, and keep up. - Said Satots and slowly started walking.

Almost two minutes later, he quickened his step. He continued to gradually speed up his step at intervals.

'I see, so it's a test of endurance. I just hope I don't have to run for too long.'

Satotz continued to quicken his stride gradually changing to a jog. Risotto noticed that there were fewer and fewer participants, many of them unable to keep up with such a long distance. Some were falling over or losing consciousness, others continued to run, breathing as if they were going to spit out their lungs, but some still showed no signs of serious fatigue, even though they had been running for over an hour.

By the way, the fat man on whom Risotto used his stand had collapsed at the very beginning. In addition to the damage to his insides, he had less iron in his blood, which made it much harder for him to breathe.

Suddenly Risotto noticed two boys, the same ones he had noticed at the beginning, with grey and dark green hair, rushing ahead of him.

'They're playing a race, aren't they? Well, they've got a lot of stamina. But I don't need to prove anything to anyone. The main thing now is to conserve as much strength as possible, otherwise I risk not making it to the end.'

The run had been going on for about four or five hours since the start. Risotto was seriously tired. It seemed to him that a little longer and he would begin to spit out his lungs.

But then the light at the end of the tunnel began to appear.

'My God, will this torment finally end?' - Risotto rejoiced, feeling great relief. After a few dozen metres of climbing the stairs, he was finally able to get out of the tunnel he had already cursed.

The tedious run in the tunnel was over.
