Chereads / PATRA / Chapter 3 - QUEEN OF WOLVES

Chapter 3 - QUEEN OF WOLVES

The echoes of scream heard faintly outside the huge wall of the chamber, where stood the entire team of archeologists and they wondered where the girl had gone. Richard seemed worried to find out Susan was gone when he clearly told her to wait for the team to arrive. At first, they thought it was just a prank to scare them but after hours of searching, Susan wasn't spotted anywhere in the camp.

"Where did she go? There were no other exits present to leave the camp. I hope this won't be a silky prank, Richard. If any life is in danger, this entire research program will be banned and you will be behind the bars." The senior archeologist, Dr Reinhart glared at Richard for numerous seconds.

"If I had known where that girl went, I wouldn't have created a scene here. She is nowhere to be found and I am worried now. It's been more than six hours. I am sure this is no prank but that girl could be in danger. We need to find her." Richard claims after knowing the consequences of his actions. He regretted leaving Susan behind for a while and now everything he had achieved would go in vain.

"What do you suggest? I have sent a team behind her but if this rumor gets outside this camp, we all will be banned in this country, yet talk alone achieving the title of discovering the secrets of Mitamia." Dr Reinhart was annoyed and dismissed Richard to attend to important issues apart from the missing girl.

"Sir, her family had called many times on her phone and I had no courage to pick the call." A student approached Richard, handing him Susan's mobile phone.

There was no way a girl would be leaving her phone behind and missing for long hours. There was definitely something shady behind the shadows and all it took him back to the wall where Susan discovered Patra's portrait.

His eyes didn't leave the portrait and it was awkward to notice that those red eyes Patra had in the portrait glared at him back.

"Susan, where are you?" He talked to himself.

With a loud scream, Susan crawled back but the poor girl couldn't make it before the mummy got her hands on her.

"Leaving already? The feast hasn't started yet." The mummy whispered in her ears and Susan cried with hot tears pouring down like rain after drought.

"Please, forgive me for waking you up. I am begging you to let me go. I won't spill a bean outside." Susan was begging on her knees.

The mummy went to the casket and saot upon it like a Queen, glaring at the girl with her fierce red eyes.

"I never let my guests leave with empty stomachs. How about a little celebration for my resuscitation?" The mummy appeared thrilled and got down from the casket.

Susan was convulsing due to extreme emotional trauma she got. A dead coming back to life in front of her eyes, she never imagined that in her wildest dream.

"Are you really the Queen?" She asked when she noticed how the mummy danced around her chamber.

The Queen stopped and glared at the girl, she tilted her head to the side and chuckled lightly.

"Do you have any doubt, love? Oh! Now I understand why you said so. I look horrible, even though I used to look terrible before, now I am a mummy. A dead person who had been betrayed by his love. I needed to be loved but received a betrayal that cost me my life." The Queen appeared depressed and Susan thought of escaping the place but then she realized there was no escape but pleading with the Queen to spare her life.

"I am sorry that happened to you…" She uttered.

The Queen turned her head to Susan and she looked like a fire being set.

"I used to feel that way in my tomb. All these years, I was in vengeance. Why did he do that to me? For power! My purpose wasn't fulfilled and I refused to die and that's why, I lived hundreds of years in a void and waited to be resuscitated for my revenge. This fire that lived inside my heart burned it into ashes and now there is nothing left but darkness and cold. And that would be my fuel for the revenge I seek. I am honored that You resuscitated me but I needed a form to initiate my wrath on humanity." The Queen lifted her head and looked softly at the girl in front of her.

"What do you need?" She asked with a trembling voice.

"I need your youth to have a form like you. I can leave like this but, I needed to blend among your kind. I know the world outside is cruel, greedy and needs attention. Thank you for your service, my dear but it's time to say goodbye. I will never forget your favor." The sneaky smile on the Queen's face horrified Susan. When she put her hand over her face, only a fire ignited inside Susan's body, electric waves appeared due to intimate contact, turning Susan into an old hag before her body collapsed into sand.

On the other hand, the Queen stood in her human form, admiring her beauty once again. She concealed her red eyes and changed it with Susan's blue ones. With a smirk on her face, she took steps to leave the chamber after eternity.

For a glance, Richard heard her faint scream and his gaze went on the wall as he turned his heel to leave the place. His heartbeats fastened as he felt the trembled ground beneath his feet. It was unusual to happen but when the huge wall began to crack and revealed a hidden passage, his eyes were wide open to spot a figure approaching him.

His body went numb as he saw a beautiful woman stepping outside from the passage and she looked exactly like the portrait carved on the wall before it cracked and broke into pieces.

"Who are you? Never seen you here before? And how did you know to open the passage?" Richard was confused as He kept staring at the woman but behind his back, he dialed an emergency number. His hands trembled and the cell phone slipped from his grip. The weird noises coming out from the phone for Patra's attention and considering it as a threat, she glared at him with her red eyes and her hands turned into claws that pierced Richard's chest.

Richard began screaming and called for help.

The woman spoke an old language and smiled before crushing Richard's skull in the wall and stained her hands in the blood. She imprinted those blood stained hands on the ground and kept chanting in her old language. Suddenly, commotion distracted dher and her gaze went to the group of human and armored securities behind them.

Dr Reinhart's eyes saw Richard's dead body and the gore and blood that had covered the woman's hand.

"Shoot her!!!" He commanded his men and they began shooting at her.

The firing of the bullets had caused dust to cloud the area. Once the firing stopped and everyone waited to see the results of their action, they were flabbergasted to see the woman standing in front of them, unharmed and a group of weird looking wolves behind her.

"What the f…?" Said Dr Reinhart.

"How nice to welcome your Queen this way. I was gone in a blood bath and I have come back in the same way. Now watch me conquering this world." Patra lifted her head and chanted a phrase that activated Anubis to attack the men.

Within a few seconds, a river of blood flooded the ground and Patra left the shadows in pride. As she came out in the light, she covered her face due to the light and the people around her watched her as if they had seen an alien. People had heard the firing and approached the camp but they spotted the blood war and a panic caused in the crowd. It gave Patra an opportunity to escape without getting any attention on herself. However, the army of anubis crawled out and it chased the people of the area, killing each one of them. Their Queen's life was endangered and it was their duty to protect her. Patra was confused to see a foreign place instead of her kingdom and she randomly ran into several tents to seek a place for her safety. But many other men kill the wolves and look for her.

She found a pair of clothes resting on the mattress and she remembered that they were the same as the girl she killed. Without wasting the time, she slipped the shirt and trouser the way Susan wore and left the tent. She found people running away in panic and suddenly, someone grabbed her hand.

She turned to glare at the girl who held her hand tightly and pulled her, "This way! We need to be together."

Patra's face turned pale but she followed the girl where she took her to the safe barn, along with other survivors of the camp. She pensively gazed at the surroundings and retrieved her army not to get any suspicion on herself.

"Drink this… You will feel better." The girl offered her a water bottle and Patra watched her in confusion. She reluctantly took it and observed it carefully. Then she imitated the man in front of her drinking water through the bottle. She did the same and smiled curled up at the corners of her lips.
