Chereads / Beyond The Red: A New Era / Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2

I was reborn in 1978 in Ogun state, Nigeria to my parents who both met while studying in the University. My Child was vibrant and although I struggled to adjust due to the fact that Nigeria had just gotten out of its first military rule I still made the best of my situation. When I was five, my parents, moved us down to Lagos in search of better opportunities. The city was a whirlwind of energy, and it quickly became my second home.

Growing up in Lagos, I found my footing in school, excelling academically while also developing a passion for sports. I played football with friends. By the time I was 13 I was done with primary school and enrolled in the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to study Economics in 1996.

During my time at UNILAG, I started sports betting using my future knowledge to predict outcomes. One of my biggest bets came during the 1998 FIFA World Cup where I placed a bet on France to go all the way and win the competition. Another major win came during the NBA playoffs that same year. I bet heavily on the Chicago Bulls to win against the Utah Jazz in Game 6 of the finals. Those bets allowed me to accumulate a sizable amount of Money which I used to buy land in areas I knew would become high value like Ikoyi, Lekki, Ajah and Ikeja.

However, I realized that I could only truly leverage my financial potential once I left Nigeria. Once I graduated In 1998, with my winnings from sports betting, I made the bold decision to move to the United States. This was where I could explore new opportunities, including investing in high-value stocks. Upon arriving, I quickly immersed myself in the financial landscape, identifying promising companies like Microsoft and Coca-Cola. My foresight paid off, allowing me to build substantial wealth as I navigated this new world.

In 2005, my passion for football and ambition led me to purchase a 10% stake in Manchester United. This move was not just a financial investment; it was a commitment to a club I had admired for years. By 2009, my dedication and vision earned me a seat on the board of directors. I was thrilled to be part of the decision-making process, influencing the future of a club that meant so much to me.

Fast forward to 2013: after years of success in the U.S. and my growing influence within Manchester United, I knew it was time for a bold leap. With the resources I had accumulated and a vision for the club's future, I decided to buy a controlling stake in Manchester United, ready to usher in a new era.

Besides I know the woes the team would face for the next 10 years and I was here to stop it.
