Inside the Marine cafeteria, Chiba devoured food at an astonishing pace. He grabbed the thick, tender garlic-flavored lobster meat and swallowed it whole, not even bothering to chew. He then picked up a fifty-pound braised pork knuckle, biting into it as oil dripped down his chin. One hundred pounds of grilled lamb chops disappeared just as quickly.
In the blink of an eye, Chiba had consumed six hundred pounds of meat.
"More! Keep it coming! Don't stop!" Chiba shouted.
The food was digested almost immediately upon entering his stomach, barely quenching his hunger. Plates of meat continued to arrive, stacking into a mountain beside him. The surrounding Marines watched in disbelief.
"Who is this guy? Did he starve to death in his past life?"
"This is insane! Did he just eat 800 pounds of meat?"
"Is he another Devil Fruit user? I've heard that those monsters can eat several thousand pounds of meat in one meal."
"I know who he is—he's the Rear Admiral Chiba who just got promoted."
"Wait, you mean the Chiba who created the Haki training method for ordinary Marines?"
"Yeah, that's him. I heard he's developing a method for rapid physical enhancement. Could it be that he succeeded again?"
"No way. Physical improvement takes time—eating tons of meat, intense training, and gradual body conditioning. Building strength overnight is against all logic."
Hina observed Chiba in shock. She had lived with him for three months and knew his usual appetite—about five hundred pounds per meal. She had even teased him, saying that if he ate so little, he wasn't a real man, just a skinny dog.
In the Marines, strength was everything. To some extent, one's appetite reflected their potential and strength. The larger the appetite, the stronger the body, and the greater the combat power.
There was an old saying in the Marines: if someone could eat ten pounds of meat in one sitting, their highest potential was lieutenant. One hundred pounds, and they could reach the level of a commanding officer. A thousand pounds signified the potential to become a general.
Compared to her, Hina could consume over three thousand pounds of meat in one meal, indicating her massive potential to become a Vice Admiral with sufficient effort.
Chiba's usual five hundred pounds seemed meager in comparison—barely praiseworthy. But now…
"How many pounds has he eaten?" Hina asked the cook.
"Eight hundred pounds already," the cook replied, concerned. "Colonel Hina, Rear Admiral Chiba usually eats around five hundred pounds at most. If this continues, he might exhaust himself."
"Three hundred pounds more than usual?" Hina was startled, noticing Chiba's stomach swelling before deflating back to its normal size in seconds. Could it be that he really developed a new body training method? she wondered.
Hina kept her eyes on Chiba as he continued to eat without pause.
Eight hundred pounds… nine hundred pounds… one thousand pounds.
When Chiba finally stopped after consuming one thousand one hundred pounds, he collapsed onto the floor, let out a loud belch, and promptly fell asleep.
Hina's expression was one of disbelief. The jump from 500 pounds to 550 was within the realm of fluctuation. But an increase from 500 to 1,100 pounds in one night?
Hina's eyes widened in shock. "In just one night, his appetite more than doubled. Chiba Rear Admiral, can you tell me how you did it?"
She looked at Chiba intensely, and the surrounding Marines gathered, their eyes fixed on him, awaiting his response.
"Over the last three months, I've developed a body training method," Chiba said, still lying on the floor. "Ordinary Marines can use it to triple their physical strength in a year or so. With dedicated practice over several years, their strength can increase up to five times."
He continued, "Of course, they won't be able to cultivate the Divine Elephant Suppressing Prison Force like I can. That technique is too advanced. But I will simplify and adapt the Giant Elephant chapter of the method to make it accessible."
Chiba explained that the simplified version would enhance cellular energy but wouldn't awaken the particles or form the giant elephant placenta. While it wouldn't compare to the full power of the Divine Elephant technique, it would be easy enough for most Marines to learn and practice.
The surrounding Marines were stunned. They didn't doubt Chiba's words; his recent feat of eating over a thousand pounds of food was proof enough.
Their eyes lit up with excitement. As Marines, they all aspired to be stronger, to wield great power. Many had hit a physical plateau; they knew that if they could just strengthen their bodies a little more, they could awaken Haki, master powerful sword techniques, and unleash sword energy.
But they had been stuck, unable to surpass their limitations despite years of effort. Some feared they'd never awaken Haki or manifest sword energy, becoming their lifelong regret.
But now, with Chiba's new method, they saw hope. If their physical energy could increase three to five times, they could achieve more than they ever dreamed—awakening Haki, mastering sword techniques, and even reaching the level of Haki infusion or projecting sword energy.
The Marines looked at Chiba with eyes filled with determination and anticipation.
