Chapter 44: Ayanokoji: Why are you glaring ate me? I'm just watching the show.
______
"You bastard..."
Mizowaki and the others stared at the brazen freshman in disbelief. Hadn't they already made it clear that Boss Nagumo was the vice president? How could this guy still act so arrogantly?
"Don't get cocky, freshman. You just enrolled today, right? You probably don't know how powerful our boss Nagumo is. If you did, you wouldn't dare..."
"I know." Rin Matsuoka waved dismissively, cutting Dian He off mid-sentence.
"Nagumo, right? Vice president of the student council. I heard he's running the second years with an iron fist."
"So what?"
"Does being the vice president give him the right to deduct all my personal points?"
"Or does he have the power to expel me?"
"If not, then shut up and stop yelling." Rin waved his hand again, this time with clear disdain.
Denai and the others grew even more furious at his attitude.
Oddly enough, though, Nagumo himself began to calm down. It dawned on him that this audacious freshman wasn't the least bit intimidated by his title.
"Freshman, I heard you've been blackmailing your seniors. Is that true?" Nagumo asked coldly.
Rin feigned surprise. "Are you okay?"
"..." Nagumo's expression darkened.
"I'm a good guy. How could I do something as awful as blackmail? I even give up my seat to elderly ladies on the bus."
Daiki and Isamu nearly choked in disbelief. This guy? A good guy?
What a joke! He was clearly a shameless extortionist!
At this moment, an angry Gozo leaned in to whisper to Nagumo, "Boss, I checked the area nearby. There are no surveillance cameras. Let's just beat him half to death."
Nagumo, his face grim, almost agreed out of reflex, but his cooler judgment took over. That wouldn't be the smartest move right now.
"No," he shook his head. "Even if there aren't any cameras, there are still other people around. We can't just attack him like that."
"You're right. I wasn't thinking straight."
After saying that, Mizowaki threw a sharp glare at Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, who had been silently observing from the sidelines.
Ayanokouji Kiyotaka: ?
Why are you glaring at me? I'm just here watching the drama unfold.
Nagumo then focused on Daiki and coldly demanded, "Tell me exactly what happened."
Earlier, Daiki and Isamu had hurried to Nagumo, accusing Rin of blackmail, but in their panic, they had left out important details about the situation.
Before Daiki could respond, Rin chuckled, "No need for them to explain. I've got a recording right here that'll tell you all you need to know."
With a smirk, Rin took out his phone and hit play.
[Senior, are you trying to bribe me with your personal points so I won't reveal the information you sold me about class points?]
It was Rin's voice, loud and clear.
[Yes, yes, we're trying to bribe you so you don't expose the class point information.]
Daiki's voice followed, sounding as nervous and guilty as ever.
A stunned silence fell over the group. Nagumo and the rest of his crew turned their gazes slowly toward Daiki and Isamu, their expressions filled with exasperation, looking at them like they were complete idiots.
Daiki also recognized his figure in the recording. He immediately shouted angrily, "You bastard! You actually recorded it, and you chose that part to record. You're really despicable!"
"I'm going to cut open your chest and see if your heart is black!"
Rin Matsuoka smiled and shrugged. "Of course, my heart is a healthy red, how could it be black?"
Rin Matsuoka's heart wasn't black, but it was true that his intentions were anything but pure…
After listening to the recording, Nagumo looked at Daiki coldly and said, "If you want me to help you, then tell me everything that happened. Otherwise, we will no longer be involved in your business."
I can't get involved either…
Because the recording mentioned the words "class points."
Nagumo and the others all clearly remembered that in the first month of the freshmen's enrollment, they were not allowed to reveal any information related to the system to the new students.
Among that information, "class points" were the most strictly undisclosed.
Judging by the content of the recording—
Daiki and Isamu had the audacity to sell the information about "class points" to this freshman bastard.
They even planned to use their personal points to bribe this freshman, so he wouldn't reveal the information about class points to others.
Daiki placed all his hopes of escaping on Nagumo and the others, and didn't dare hide anything.
Afterward, Daiki and Isamu recounted how they quarreled with Sudo Ken, and how Rin Matsuoka had stepped in, paid compensation on behalf of Sudo Ken, only to be manipulated by them… They told the story in full detail, without omission.
Now, Nagumo finally understood why Daiki and the others said that this freshman was blackmailing them.
Nagumo looked at Daiki and Isamu with disgust. Not only did these two idiots fail to get the personal points from the freshman, but they were also betrayed by him using the information about "class points."
So useless!
Nagumo turned his cold gaze to Rin Matsuoka. "I have many doubts."
"Go ahead," Rin said readily.
"One question costs 100,000 personal points. Pay up, and I'll answer."
Rin's additional comment made Nagumo choke on his words.
Mizowaki glared at Rin Matsuoka. "You wish! A hundred thousand points per question? Why don't you just go rob someone?"
Rin Matsuoka smiled and ignored him.
A hundred thousand points per question? That speed of earning points was far faster than robbing people.
"Isn't 100,000 points per question too much?" Nagumo said coldly.
"I also think it's a bit much, so you can always ask and see if I decide to answer," Rin replied with a grin.
"…"
Damn bastard!
"Don't make that twisted face. If you've got questions, just ask. I'm in a good mood, so I might answer one or two for free," Rin continued with a smile.
Nagumo took a deep breath, his eyes flashing with malice. "Daiki and the others knew that if they told you about the class points, they'd be expelled. So why did they still tell you?"
"This doesn't make sense."
Rin Matsuoka looked at Nagumo in disbelief. He didn't expect the guy who unified the entire second-year class to ask such a simple question.
"Didn't I already tell you? They didn't give me the information about class points for free. They charged me 200,000 personal points before selling it to me."
"Haven't you read Das Kapital?"
"When profits reach 10%, they're willing to make a move."
"When profits reach 50%, they're willing to take risks."
"When profits reach 100%, they'll trample on all human laws."
"And when profits reach 300%, they'll risk being hanged."
