Oops she dropped the bombshell.
Amanda stared at her mom for a few seconds. God, she was 18, not too young to have a job but it somehow disturbed her.
Mandy dear, I only said that because things are really getting hard for us, Irene said when she didn't get a response from her daughter.
Uhm mom its fine. It's just that I need to think. It's kind of a big new, Amanda finally replied blinking her eyes.
My dear, Irene called while getting closer to hold her hands. I don't hate you, am just doing this for you. I really want you to go to college and I don't want this opportunity to pass you by.
Mother, Amanda called. I know you are doing this for my sake and I won't let you down. I will find a job so that I will support myself in college too.
Oh dear, her mom cried. Thank you so much dear. But do not stress yourself. If you are not able to find a job, let me know and I will help you.
Okay momma. I need to sleep now so that I can be strong tomorrow while looking for a job, she said showing her muscles and laughing. Her mom joined her in laughter too. They kissed each other goodnight and Amanda retired back to her room.

Ahhhhhhhhh, Amanda yawned stretching her body. She turned her phone on and checked the time.
God its 10 already. She was late. Why did she sleep like that?
She stood up and dragged her legs to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and took her bath. She started drying her long black hair which stopped at her waist. After that, she wore a short floral skirt and a crop top which went with sneakers. She tied her hair into a ponytail, grabbed her phone and bag and ran downstairs. She met her mom in the kitchen making breakfast.
Good morning momma, she greeted kissing her mom's cheeks.
Finally, you decided to wake up. For a moment, I thought you were dead, Irene said holding her chest dramatically.
Mom!!!! Don't say that.
But you really slept like a fat pig, Irene said jokingly.
MOM!!!! Amanda screamed. Am not a pig. Besides what are you making for breakfast?
Your favorite. I want you to eat to your fullest so that you will be able to find a job, Irene said winking at her.
Oh mom, you are the best. She gave her mom a tight hug.
Hey young lady, don't squeeze me to death. Go and set the table, she ordered.
Amanda quickly left to set the table so that they can eat their breakfast. Her mom later served them. They ate and chatted for a long while. After they were done eating, Irene went to work leaving her daughter alone at home. After Amanda was done with everything, she dashed out from the house to start her job hunting.
She stepped outside and the mild wind blew on her face. She looked around and saw her best friend Cherish, walking towards her.
Oh, wow Amanda, are you still alive? Cherish asked her sarcastically.
Hey it's not my fault that I didn't call. I was busy. Besides if you were really missing me, why didn't you call? Amanda fired back.
Cut the crap. I missed you, Emily said hugging her.
Where are you heading to?
Just looking for a job, answered Amanda.
What!!!!! Seriously you are a big girl now, I will miss that baby side of you, and she said holding her chest dramatically.
Stop that, Amanda said. Besides I need to go now. Bye.
Immediately she ran and left her friend. She started going through her list and searched for each company. First, she went to a baby store.
When she got there, she went straight to the manager's office. After a while, she came out dragging her feet. Obviously, she didn't get the job. She went to six other companies but she still didn't get the job. Feeling down and tired, she decided to go home and rest. When she got home, nobody was there. She went straight to her bedroom and changed her clothes. After changing, she set an alarm on her phone and slept off.
