Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The narrator said, "Ten years later, in North Dakota, two adults, Kent and Katie, with five kids, only lived with their two youngest children because the three oldest all went their separate ways when they were old enough. Megan, the firstborn, lived alone in Iowa initially, but then her brother, Joseph, the third born, moved in with her. Jeremy, the second oldest, lived in Oklahoma. Adam, the second youngest, packed up and decided to live with a couple of friends who were identical boy twins at first, but then he moved in with his girlfriend, Julia. They dated for two years and then broke up. After breaking up with his girlfriend, Adam moved back in with his parents and Noah, the youngest. Since they missed each other, Joseph video-chatted his friend, Franco, who lived in Romania, and they had a duel through their computers."

Both started at 2000 Life Points and dueled until Franco had 1250 Life Points and Joseph had 250. It was Franco's turn, and he played The Dark Magician Girl (2000/1700) in Attack Mode. Joseph said, "The Dark Magician Girl? Why play her? My Obnoxious Celtic Guardian (1400/1200) can withstand her attack since she has over 1900 points. Franco said, "Not after I play this. The Shield & Sword card. This card swaps all monsters' attack points with their defense points." Then The Dark Magician Girl's power became 1700/2000, and The Obnoxious Celtic Guardian's power became 1200/1400. Franco said, "You mentioned earlier that monsters with attack points higher than or equal to 1900 can't destroy Obnoxious Celtic Guardian. But since The Dark Magician Girl only has 1700 attack points now, she'll deliver the final blow. Dark Magician Girl, finish that elf off. Dark Magic Attack!" Then The Dark Magician Girl destroyed Obnoxious Celtic Guardian, and Joseph's Life Points dropped to 0. Joseph said, "Congratulations. That was a great match." Franco said, "You did great, too." Franco then turned off his webcam and ended the video chat.

Joseph then turned on the TV and saw his favorite singer, Paige Welsh, on TV. While Paige sang, Joseph sang along with her. Megan walked by the living room and heard how well Joseph sounded. When he finished, Joseph turned off the TV, and Megan clapped for him. Joseph turned around and saw Megan watching him. Joseph said, "Oh, Megan." Megan said, "That was great, Joseph. You sounded almost professional." Joseph said, "Thanks, but I'm happy with my job as a writer." When they got the mail later that day, Joseph found an envelope with his name on it. He opened it and read the papers inside. Joseph said, "It's a deed to a house in Transylvania. I can mail it back if I accept or tear it to shreds if I don't." Joseph showed Megan the deed, and she read it. Megan said, "Joseph, you can't be considering going there." Joseph took the deed back and said, "Oh, I am. You can stay in Iowa if you want, but I'm going. It's in Transylvania. That's where my best friend, Franco, lives. We'll finally be able to meet each other."

Joseph checked the accept box on the paper and mailed it back to Romania. Then Joseph packed up his things, and Megan did, too, since she was pretty sure Joseph was the only sibling she could live with because they were tight. A week later, when Megan and Joseph were packed entirely, they migrated to Transylvania together. Once they arrived, Megan and Joseph looked around the airport and found their luggage. Then, they picked up the things they brought and waited for the moving people to get the rest of their stuff to their new address. While at the airport, Joseph picked up and read a flyer for the vampire festival that's in town. Joseph said, "Vampire Fest. Where vampire lovers worship real vampires, get sold vampire protection and merchandise, and dress up like vampires too."

After seeing the flyer, Megan and Joseph got in a taxi and told the driver to drive them to their new house. Once they got there, they turned on the lights and saw how nice it looked inside. Megan and Joseph then went upstairs to find their bedrooms. When Megan found hers, she turned on the lights and thought the place looked nice enough to sleep in. Joseph found a different room, turned on the lights, and thought he would take it. Megan and Joseph unpacked their things and decorated their rooms with their packed furniture. When they finished, they went to bed since they had dinner on their flight, a long flight from the US to Romania. Since it would be a couple of months before their furniture arrived, Joseph and Megan made do with what they had and what the house came with.

The following day, Megan and Joseph looked around town and visited the museum's vampire exhibit. While there, they saw an empty coffin on display. Mary-Kate arrived and saw Megan and Joseph looking at Matt's coffin. Mary-Kate said, "A vampire named Matt used to be in there." Joseph said, "What happened to him?" Mary-Kate said, "A group of actors performed the resurrection spell from the Ancient Book of Vampires and brought him to life. He's been missing for ten years, but he was never destroyed. So, he's still out there somewhere." Megan and Joseph were slightly worried, so they left the museum and continued their day.

On their way home, Megan and Joseph discussed the story Mary-Kate told at the museum. Joseph said, "Do you think that story about the actors and the vampire was true?" Megan said, "Of course not. What kind of vampire goes missing for ten years and avoids all vampire hunters, not to mention the police?" Joseph said, "Hmm. You have a point. But Transylvania is known for vampires. I would feel much better if we went to that festival in town and picked up some vampire protection." Megan said, "Ok, we'll go. But only because it sounds fun."

That night, Megan and Joseph went to Vampire Fest and saw many people dressed like vampires. Since they wanted to come in and out of the festival, the man at the gate stamped their arms and gave them a mark that looked like the bite of a vampire. Then they looked around and saw Dracula's castle near the festival. While looking around the festival, Joseph and Megan bought vampire capes from a guy running one of the booths, and another guy sold them garlic necklaces to keep them safe from all vampires. Joseph said, "These garlic necklaces should protect us if that story is true." Then they started to hear a band playing. Joseph and Megan followed the music to a stage that had a bad dressed as the worst monsters alive playing music and singing. While they enjoyed the music, they also enjoyed the festival. Joseph wanted some of the vampire bat-shaped cookies while Megan drank some of the punch they called "blood" when they handed it out. The narrator said, "Megan and Joseph enjoyed the festival for as long as they wanted. When they were finished for the night, Megan and Joseph left the festival and returned home, but we'll get back to them later. Right now, let's check in on our friends, the vampires."
