Chapter 25 - A Bottle of Truth Serum

Inside the carriage, Su Hao watched the still bustling crowd on the street and thought to himself that sometimes ordinary people are better at adapting to life.

"Young Master, the old master has instructed that you should stay at the Su mansion recently and not spend nights outside," Su Ping, who was driving the carriage, said softly.

This morning, the old master had specifically instructed him. During this period, all kinds of changes could happen, and Su Hao, being a direct descendant of the Su family, could easily get into trouble. So Su Ping was told to inform Su Hao when picking him up that he shouldn't spend nights outside anymore.

"Stay at home? I'll see about that. If it doesn't work out, tell my father to arrange a few more skilled guards for me," Su Hao replied. He didn't think much of it, considering himself just a playboy who shouldn't be targeted by anyone.

Moreover, in a while, he would be going to the county town below. At that time, he wouldn't be able to enjoy himself as much as now, so he wanted to have some fun outside for a while.

"By the way, why would Sima Mingyue appear in Fu City?" Suddenly, a question flashed through Su Hao's mind.

Fu City was Su family's territory, with most of the business controlled by them. The Sima family had some products in Fu City, but they were insignificant and not worth Sima Mingyue's personal visit.

"Could it be related to the Young Marquis's matter?" Su Hao couldn't help but wonder.

"Maybe I'm overthinking it. The Sima family has long sided with the Weeping Blood Marquis. Could they be planning to make a move against my Su family?"

"Never mind, as long as Third Uncle brings back the antidote from the black market to cure the Young Marquis's Black Blood Poison, even if someone has any schemes, they'll be in vain," Su Hao thought coldly.

The carriage soon arrived at the constabulary. Seeing the constables walking back and forth and the captains on horseback, Su Hao felt a bit out of place.

"Looks like I need to find a fine horse. Riding a stallion in my luxurious constable uniform would surely attract a crowd of girls!" Su Hao imagined.

"Young Master, please be kind and spare some change!" At this moment, a young beggar appeared in front of Su Hao with a broken bowl, pleading.

"Go away! Go away!" The guards at the gate immediately came to drive the beggar away when they saw him begging from Su Hao.

"You two, continue your watch. Little beggar, I'm in a good mood today. This is for you," Su Hao waved the guards back, took out a piece of broken silver from his pocket, and tossed it into the beggar's bowl. He then turned to enter the constabulary.

"Young Master, someone asked me to give you this!" The little beggar blocked Su Hao's way and handed him a crumpled paper.

"Hmm!" Su Hao took the paper from the beggar's hand, opened it, and immediately frowned. He then took out another piece of broken silver and said, "Tell me who gave you this note, and this silver is yours too!"

"Young Master, I really don't know who it was. The person who gave me the note wore black clothes and a cloak!" The beggar's eyes lit up at the sight of the silver in Su Hao's hand and immediately told him about the note's origin.

"Take it!" Su Hao tossed the silver to the beggar and quickly entered the constabulary.

The content of the note surprised Su Hao greatly. It said that Sima Mingyue was actually a member of the Blood Moon Cult and was planning to work with Blue Moon, the vice altar master of the Blood Moon Cult in Fu City, to capture him and exchange him for resources from the Su family. It warned him to be extremely careful.

"Who could have gotten this information? Why tell me?" Su Hao pondered as he walked.

"Oh right, didn't Lu Zheng capture Li Xing from the Blood Moon Cult's Fu City branch yesterday? Perhaps I can get some information about this Blue Moon from him!" Su Hao suddenly slapped his forehead.

He wanted to inquire about Blue Moon, mentioned in the note, from Li Xing. As he was thinking, Su Hao arrived at the courtyard.

Entering the yard, he saw only one constable, Little Liu. The other constables were not in the yard, and Little Liu seemed distracted and a bit dejected, not even noticing Su Hao's entrance.

"Little Liu, what are you thinking about? Where is everyone else?" Su Hao couldn't help but ask.

"Deputy Chief Su, you're here!" Hearing Su Hao's voice, Little Liu snapped back to reality and said glumly, "They've all gone out to secretly search for clues about the Blood Moon Cult. My strength is too low, so they didn't let me go!"

"Indeed, your strength is a bit low," Su Hao had seen Little Liu's file; he was only at the second level of the Human Realm, just a beginner in martial arts cultivation, most suitable for doing odd jobs in the constabulary.

"Go help me investigate where Li Xing and Han Lu, who were brought back by Chief Lu yesterday, are being held," Su Hao said, seeing the young man's dejection and deciding to give him a task.

"Deputy Chief Su, are you planning to interrogate them? Can you take me along?" Little Liu immediately perked up, pleading in a low voice.

"Go investigate quickly, and I'll take you along when the time comes," Su Hao nodded.

"Alright!" After getting Su Hao's promise, Little Liu quickly left the courtyard.

Su Hao then pushed open the door and entered his room. He began his daily check-in.

"Host, for the third consecutive day of check-in, you are rewarded with 40 check-in points. Using the double check-in card, you gain an additional 40 points, totaling 80 check-in points. As a random reward, the host receives one bottle of Truth Serum, which has been stored in the item inventory."

"Hmm, there's a random reward this time, and it's Truth Serum? Does the system know I'm going to interrogate someone? Is this specifically for me?" Su Hao looked at the system, feeling like it was reading his mind.

"It wouldn't be bad to have a few more mind-readers like this!" Su Hao opened his item inventory and saw the newly added bottle of Truth Serum. He clicked to view its details.

[Truth Serum]: This is a special potion developed by the distant Galactic Federation for criminals. After drinking it, the criminal enters a state of confusion and answers the interrogator's questions with 100% honesty.

"Just as I thought!" Looking at the description of the Truth Serum, it was exactly as he had guessed.

"Once I get information about Blue Moon from Li Xing, let's see how I deal with you all. You think you can kidnap me? Am I someone you can just kidnap?" Su Hao snorted coldly.

Although the information on the note given by the little beggar might not be accurate, Su Hao had already decided in his heart that it was correct.

Then Su Hao opened his system interface:

[Name]: Su Hao [Realm]: Human Realm Fourth Level [Check-in Points]: 600 [Item Inventory]: 3 Bronze Draw Cards, 1 Li Xunhuan Limited Time Possession Card, 1 Lower Ninja 3-Ninja Team Card (13 days remaining), 1 bottle of Truth Serum.

[Skills]: Golden Bell Shield: Second Layer (Can be upgraded, consumes 100 skill points to reach the Third Layer, increases strength by a thousand jin, doubles physical toughness, can resist ordinary club attacks.) Great Strength Stone Splitting Hand: (First Layer) (Can be upgraded, consumes 25 skill points to reach the Second Layer) Brahma Raging Flame Technique: (Entry Level) (Can be upgraded, consumes 20 skill points to reach the First Layer)

"600 check-in points can only be exchanged for 60 skill points. The Third Layer of Golden Bell Shield can't be upgraded. Should I upgrade Great Strength Stone Splitting Hand and Brahma Raging Flame Technique?" Su Hao pondered. Both Great Strength Stone Splitting Hand and Brahma Raging Flame Technique were offensive skills. If he upgraded them a bit, he could fight more aggressively and wouldn't have to always be on the defensive.
