Pending Quest
Leaving the test room, Tahir and his group used the teleporting machine and appeared in front of the admission office, where they were handed some key passes.
"Welcome to the academy, lads. Don't let your power level discourage you. You can only give up when you're at your limit. Till then, keep pushing," the admission officer told them before dismissing them.
Tahir and Kris were in the same room.
"This place is cool. I wonder how the girls are doing," Kris asked.
Tahir didn't answer Kris. From his observation, Kris was either a lover boy or just interacted freely with people.
"Hey, kid, why are you making a mental note of your roommate?" Shawn asked.
"And why should I answer you?" Tahir replied almost immediately.
"I just asked a question, kid. You shouldn't get all worked up over it," Shawn said.
Tahir announced to Kris that he was going to take some rest, and Kris left to get something to eat. Just then, something came to Tahir's mind. He was thinking about what Bruce said earlier about being a vampire. Muttering System, an interface popped up, and Tahir could see the interface that appeared before he fell unconscious.
[Welcome, you acquired the Tribrid System.]
"Uh, Tribrid System? Doesn't that mean I have a vampire trait in me?" Looking at the mirror in the room, Tahir discovered he was looking pale. He hadn't eaten anything since yesterday, and he wasn't feeling hungry at all.
Wait, I'm really a vampire now? Tahir asked, not speaking to anyone in particular.
"You're more than a vampire, kid. You're three monsters in one," Shawn said to Tahir.
Sigh, could today get any worse? Tahir voiced out.
Immediately, he stood up to check out the school when he overheard someone saying that the older students with level 9 abilities were ganging up on some new students.
"Where are they?" Tahir asked the student.
"They're at the hall right now."
Heading to the hall, Tahir found a bloody Kris lying on the ground. Kneeling beside Kris, he asked, "Can you stand?"
"Yeah, I can stand," Kris answered.
"Then let's get out of here."
Just as they were about to leave, one of the bullies blocked their path and asked, "Where do you think you're taking our toy? We're not done breaking him, so you should leave him where you found him, or we'll turn you into a toy too."
Tahir smiled, though his face was calm. "And what made you think I'd let my friend down just because you asked nicely?"
"Don't try to act tough, you level 2 piece of crap," the bully said while channeling his earth ability. Earth slabs moved toward Tahir fast, blurring with speed. Moving out of the way quickly, all the slabs crashed into each other.
Everyone, including Kris, was shocked.
"He didn't just dodge that slab at such speed?" some of the students murmured.
Just as Tahir thought it was over, he felt a piercing pain. An ice spear stabbed him in the side, narrowly missing his vital organs. He winced in pain while clenching his fist. It was clear he was losing his patience. He could feel the pain, but at the same time, the wound was closing up. Then, an interface popped up.

Looking up, Tahir saw that he and Kris were surrounded. Kris stood up, taking a fighting stance. Nudging Tahir, he told him, "At least if we're going down, we should do it fighting."
"Yeah, you're right," Tahir replied, preparing and getting ready for the impact of the slabs heading their way. He crossed his arms over his chest.
Just as the earth and ice slabs were about to slam into them, they crashed into an invisible barrier.
Looking behind him, he saw Esha and Zahra. Zahra slammed her feet into the ground, creating some kind of earth hut to cover them. Moving quickly, Zahra created two ice spears and hurled them at the bullies. Covering themselves with an ice and earth wall, the spears crashed into the walls, cracking them. Both girls were ready to fight and protect the boys when a teacher arrived and separated the fights, calling both parties to his office.
Looking at the injured Tahir and Kris, the teacher asked, "What started the fight?"
Looking at the two bullies, Kris pointed at them both and replied, "Both of them started the fight. I was just coming back from the school shop when I accidentally bumped into these two. Even after apologizing, they punched me in the face. I retaliated, which led to all this."
"If it was only you and them, then how did these three end up getting involved?" the teacher asked Kris.
"We're friends, that's why they stepped in to save us," Kris replied while maintaining eye contact with the teacher.
Sigh, looking at the bullies, the teacher said, "Meet me after afternoon class."
Immediately, the bullies left, and the teacher turned to the others.
Sigh, "You guys can't go around getting yourselves involved in a fight like this. These two children are from powerful families, who would do anything for their kids. The school can't suspend them or punish them, because not only would we lose our jobs, but maybe our lives too. So I'm sorry I didn't punish them. You guys might want to get yourselves checked up to heal your wounds before you lose too much blood."
With that, they all left the teacher's office.
Turning to face the girls, Tahir bowed his head, saying, "Thank you both for your help. I'm very grateful."
Zahra playfully punched him on the shoulder, saying, "Come on, man. What are friends for?"
On their way to the nurse's office, Tahir bailed, giving an excuse that he needed to use the restroom.
Upon reaching the toilet, Tahir lifted his shirt, only to discover that his wound had completely healed.
