Chapter 2 - #2 Death And Miracles

"Ngiinggg...."

The sound inside Alfeus' head kept echoing, slowly bringing him back to consciousness. As Alfeus became aware, he realized that his body was chained all over.

Sedane, who saw Alfeus wake up, said that the chains were not there for the reason he might think. Sedane tried to calm Alfeus down despite him being bound in chains. At the end of the prison door, Safiri swung the handle and entered. The wooden plank he held in his left arm made Alfeus anxious.

As Safiri slowly raised the wooden plank, Alfeus thrashed as if he already knew what Safiri was about to do. Sure enough, the plank swung and struck Alfeus' unfortunate face, as if the hope he had given the two of them had disappeared.

With a guiltless expression, Safiri continued to beat Alfeus with the wooden plank in his hand. As if that wasn't enough, Sedane pulled out a needle from his pocket. Without remorse, he stabbed it into Alfeus' left eye.

At that moment, Alfeus truly lost hope, groaning in excruciating pain. His body trembled, signaling he could no longer bear the agony.

The needle that had pierced Alfeus' left eyelid was then pulled out and targeted another part of his body. Like flesh being pierced, the needle was thrust through the palm of his left hand.

The hand that Alfeus used to pick up trash and search for food was now useless. The sharp, ten-centimeter needle had embedded itself into his palm.

The once plain room where he had been chained was now filled with blood, the blood that flooded the room's floor showing what true suffering looked like.

Alfeus desperately wished for death at that moment. He didn't want food or water; instead, he wanted death to come and take him.

At the brink between life and death, Alfeus, who had begun to lose consciousness, stopped screaming. Sedane and Safiri thought that Alfeus had died at that point. They released the chains that had held him. "Wait, no... that's impossible..." were roughly the words that came out of their mouths as they witnessed a miracle. Alfeus, who had risen, felt that revenge was the only path forward.

In a rage, Alfeus grabbed Safiri's face and hurled him against the concrete. Sedane, terrified, tried to strike Alfeus with his needle. As if possessed by magic, dark energy surged from within Alfeus, throwing Sedane into a pile of empty crates.

In a panic, Sedane couldn't find Alfeus where he had been standing. Before he could utter his final words, one of the empty crates flew through the air and struck Sedane's face about ten times, killing him instantly.

Safiri, still alive, witnessed his friend's face being smashed by the flying crate. Safiri screamed in terror as if experiencing the same suffering. Alfeus, who miraculously appeared before him while holding the needle, gave Safiri a clear picture of what his fate would be.

In a cruel, merciless way, Alfeus tortured Safiri as Safiri had tortured him. In Safiri's final moments, Alfeus gripped his blood-soaked face. "Die!" he said, and with that word, Safiri disintegrated into dust, leaving only bones behind.

Seeing that everything had finally ended, Alfeus slowly collapsed, his consciousness slipping away from his physical body.

---

It was unclear how long Alfeus had been unconscious, but he was utterly shocked to see Safiri and Sedane's bodies reduced to bones. Sedane had lost half of the flesh on his face, and Safiri had turned to dust.

Alfeus could only remember being tortured before losing consciousness. He recalled going blind after his eyelid had been pierced by the needle, but his eyes had returned to normal as if nothing had happened.

It seemed that his body had healed itself while he was unconscious. Without thinking twice, Alfeus ran towards the door and left the place.

He returned to his life of collecting trash and searching for leftover food. He also noticed that his left arm had healed, although it bore scars that looked like puncture wounds.
