After a hard day of picking grass, the duo was greeted by the old guard who was impressed by the cleaned-up grass, although, Rey had already released the rabbits out into the wild without anyone noticing.
"Wow, I can't believe both of you have rooted the weed out in less than a day!" - The old guard.
"Thanks mister! we certainly did work very hard, especially my good friend Rey over here who did a lot of work!" - Akuv.
Rey coughed loudly when Akuv brought his name into the topic.
"Oh, um, Akuv, you are really full of humility, you know that is not true at all." - Rey.
"Oh both of you deserve credit! Here, as what has been promised by the noble, here is the sack containing your payment!" - The Old Guard.
"Thanks mister!" - Akuv.
"Thank you." - Rey.
"Okay lads open up the gates! let the grass pickers out! And see you guys some other day when the noble needs your help!" - The Old Guard.
"See ya mister! take care!" - Akuv.
"Till we meet again, sir." - Rey.
The duo took their leave from the noble's home and walked back home. Along their path, they passed the nearby port town of Kyabe. In the evening, some stalls and shops seemed to have been opening up, which was noticed by the duo.
"Say I am hungry Rey, we should grab some dinner from one of these stalls!" - Akuv.
"Akuv, we are broke, BROKE, we can't afford to spend unnecessarily, and besides, how much did we earn anyways?" - Rey.
"Let me check." - Akuv.
Akuv emptied out the coins from the sack, only to reveal two silver coins. Rey couldn't have had a more disappointing expression.
"Right, I guess we can share half of the pea today." - Rey.
"Hey come on don't be like that! we can have one pea each!" - Akuv.
And so the duo walked back home, disappointed, but not surprised. Yet another day about to end, and a new one to start tomorrow.
