OAKLEY
Grams drove us to a mall nearby that was on neutral land not far from the pack. There was a lot of different supernaturals and humans there. We had decided since it was almost noon that we would go to the food court first. Neither of us wanted to do any shopping on an empty stomach. We got our food and sat at a table.
We chatted about what we were shopping for and I kept saying I felt bad about her spending her money on me and how I had some but not much.
"Do not fret about it anymore child. I have more money then I even know what to do with. Your my only grandchild and it's my job to spoil you. So I will spend as much of my money on you as I want. If you don't help pick things out that you like then I am just going to have buy the things I might think you like and then you may not like it." She said to me sternly.
"Yes ma'am." I said back. I wasn't used to this but I was going to listen to her. We went to a few different stores getting things to decorate my bedroom and clothes. We got toiletries and makeup and other miscellaneous items. We also got a bunch of shoes. We had more bags then we could carry. She really was spoiling me. I had never had so many nice things in my life. My dad would get me some nice things but my stepmother and half sister made sure it was minimal.
"We should get you a laptop." Grams said pointing at an electronics store. We went inside and started looking at the computers. We were chatting about them and trying to figure out which one to get when I looked up to see a woman walk into the store, her hair was bright red, she had a very pale complexion and she was tall and skinny. She had on a pair of skinny blue jeans, black biker boots and a red shirt that matched her hair. Her eyes were a bright red and they looked like they were filled with a lot of knowledge. She looked around like she was looking for something or someone when her eyes locked on mine. She smiled and started to make her way over to us. My grams noticed I wasn't paying attention and looked to where I was looking. She suddenly stiffened.
"Vampire." She whispered to me. It was my first time seeing a vampire. I had never left the pack lands before and so the only shifters I saw were the ones who came to events that our back would host. Vampires didn't usually go to events that involved wolves. While there was a peace treaty among them they were not very fond of each other.
"Hello." She said with a breathy voice as she reached us.
"Hi." I responded, wondering what she wanted with us.
"Can we help you?" Grams asked her, moving closer to me. She seemed like she was trying to move to a protective stance.
"Calm down wolf. I'm not here to hurt you. I am here to warn you. Someone pretty powerful is looking for you. He is after your powers and will do whatever it takes to get to you. Even if it means a war between shifters." She said.
"Who?" My grams asked. She didn't seem like she was very surprised by this which shocked me some. I wanted to ask her questions but I knew it was not the right time for that.
"I cannot give out that information. I'm already taking a big risk in warning you. I just know that there are many of us that do not want a war. I could sense her powers the minute I walked into this store. That's only going to get stronger as she learns to use them." The vampire said. I was confused about what she was saying. I was just a werewolf. I didn't have any special powers. I might have been bigger then normal but that was about it.
"That's not it but it's not time." Haven said in my mind.
"You knew about these powers and didn't say anything to me?" I questioned her.
"It's not time. I cannot talk about it yet." She was all cryptic about it. I was getting frustrated by her. I turned my focus back to my grams and the vampire in time to see the vampire walking out of the store.
"What's going on grams? What did she mean?" I asked my grandmother.
"It's nothing to worry about dear. We will talk about this later. For now just enjoy yourself. Have you decided which laptop you want? We have one more store to go to." She said. I felt that was a little frustrating as well but I knew we were not in a place where I could push the conversation and I also didn't want to make her mad. I chose a laptop and we found a case and some other accessories I might need. We paid and then left the store.
We made our way to the lower floor of the mall and to a store that had all the beautiful, expensive dresses in the window. One dress caught my eye instantly from the window. It was a blue dress with a v-neck. It was fitted at the top and from the waist down it flowed some. The sleeves were like spaghetti straps but a little thicker. It was beautiful. I didn't realize I had stopped and was staring at it until my grams cleared her throat. She looked to where I was looking.
"That dress is beautiful. It matches your eyes. You must try it on." She said.
"Oh no, I can't try that on. It's probably really expensive." I said.
"Nonsense. You let me worry about the price." She said as she grabbed my hand and pulled me into the store and to the nearest sales lady.
"We would like to try on that blue dress in the window in her size if you have it." She pointed at me.
"Of course. I'll be right back with that." The sales lady said. We looked around at the other dresses while we waited. When she came back with the dress she escorted us to the fitting room where I went in and put the dress on. I stared at myself in the mirror. The dress fit me perfectly and looked like it was made for me. It made the blue in my eyes stand out even more. I opened the door of the fitting room to show my grandmother.
"Ooh my goddess dear! You look absolutely stunning in that dress! We must buy it and you need to wear that to the festival this evening!" She exclaimed. She took out her card and handed it to the sales lady.
"Wait, do you have that dress in any other colors?" She asked the sales lady before she walked away.
"Yes. We have it in red and black." She said.
"We will take one of each of those as well." Grams said.
"Grams! That's a lot of money. You really don't need to do that." I said, secretly hoping she would scold me for not listening to her and letting her spoil me because I really wanted the dresses.
"Nonsense. Go change so we can get that dress home and start preparing for the festival." She said. I smiled so wide I thought my face would start to hurt. I could not remember feeling this happy in so long.
