It's the dark art often considered taboo by much of the Allied Nations. First, it requires rare dark-aligned magic to even use. Then, there's the matter of reanimating and commanding the dead—a practice avoided for cultural, religious, ethical, and many other reasons.
However, the Church of the Holy Light has often dealt with undead creatures, leading them to study necromancy in secret. They protected dark-aligned individuals born under unfair discrimination and had them assist with this research. As a result, they achieved basic techniques, like communicating with deceased souls or reading the final thoughts of victims at accident sites. They ensured that protecting the practitioner's mind was a priority, so they avoided advanced methods...
But as a frontline warrior, I was far removed from all that.
