Austronesian Republican Empire
The streets are lit, laughter, singing, and the strings of musical instruments join together to perform a harmonious class of musical notes that reverberate throughout the surroundings. The expressions of delight and drunken expressions seem to overshadow the state of the world it is in. At this moment, the people could finally feel peace and harmony.
It was now December Thirty-One Nineteen Ninetynine, and tomorrow was the start of a new century, a new century. So, there were new beginnings; thus, even people of all ages were widely awake even in the dead of night, just waiting for the turn of the century to happen right before their eyes. It was such a joyous occasion that everybody expected because of their country. The Austronesian Republican Empire has recently just weathered through a difficult time.
Just a month prior, on the evening of November One, a peace treaty was signed, ending the fourth world war between the warring factions of a Resurgent Warsaw Pact, New Millenium Axis, and what remains of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as well as the members of the New Treaty Of Sadabad Pact.
How did this happen? The entire motion was set when the Paternal Autocrats headed by Douglas MacArthur in the Nineteen Fifties, after rejecting the use of Nuclear Bombs against the People's Republic of China on the eve of the Korean War, led a coup d'état against the Government of the United States Of America his homeland.
It was an unprecedented event in the entire history of the United States, as it set off numerous events. Immediately upon seizing power, the Paternal Autocrats strengthened their grip on power and forcibly dispersed the ensuing protesters, with some reaching the point of a shootout. Various governors supported MacArthur. Therefore, they reached a state majority, demoralizing states that wanted to secede, so a civil war was averted. However, it is essential to note that it was at the height of McCarthyism in the United States, which might also be the reason why governors supported him and why the secession was averted. It was to keep the Reds out of the continental United States.
This was the biggest mistake in history when the Military One Party Dictatorship was instilled in the seat of the strongest country in the world. All hell broke loose. Nuclear armaments were immediately used to strike critical cities in the People's Republic Of China. Further worsening the outlook of the Chinese People, this then turned into mass migration out of the country, which resulted in the fury of Chairman Mao Zedong as there weren't any workers left to work for the factories and people to work in the fields, there wasn't anybody there to sustain the economy and the food supply, mass famine broke out across all the People's Republic Of China, and with a decree and order being passed down all over the country to close all borders and to shoot anyone daring to go outside of the border.
Thus, with the worsening conditions in the world, the newly borne Republic Of The Philippines, the Republic Of Malaysia, and the Republic Of Indonesia, as well as the Republic of Singapore and the State of Brunei. The Republic of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Brunei were released on the eve of the Third World War that the United States incited. The Republic Of The Philippines was quick enough to invite them to form a Union between the countries before their political status quo stabilized. So, a few months after the start of the Third World War, the Austronesian Republican Empire was born.
It was declared an Empire due to practicality. To define Austronesia as a single ethnic state is a tumultuous mistake, as it comprised various ethnicities and tribes. So, calling it an Empire was enough as an Empire is made up of multiple territories and people of different ethnicities spanning thousands of kilometers. It might have been called an empire, but it did not have any expansionist desires; instead, it wanted to safeguard its citizens' people from harm and promote their ultimate welfare and social well-being.
Now, shortly after the Austronesian Republican Empire was borne out of different nations, they immediately declared absolute armed neutrality in the ensuing chaos that was transpiring worldwide. Unfortunately, they were still harassed and faced coercion as Austronesians did not have a proper navy and were still wrecked due to the Second World War that happened a decade earlier.
So, to counter this, the government declared that it would temporarily stop fishing in the open waters. Stick close to the shores and only travel between territories unless needed. With it, they focused heavily on research and development, including improvement in agriculture, communication, manufacturing, and military sectors.
The Third World War rumbled on for two decades, just for it to end with absolutely nobody satisfied. However, the Soviet Union lost the Iron Curtain; honestly, that's the fruit of this event. The People's Republic Of China kept its borders, and the Soviet Union could stay united, except for the lost Iron Curtain. It was as if the Soviet Union's borders were back before the National Socialists in Germany invaded them on the eve of nineteen forty-one.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, as the United States still being firmly held by the Paternal Autocrats, with its leader replaced as Douglas MacArthur died in the nineteen sixties. While the Third World War was flaring up in the entire world, the denazification in Germany was unfortunately not completed in time; with enough maneuvers, a resurgent National Socialist Party came to fruition and took over Germany by force a decade after the Third World War. With the Germans feeling unsatisfied with how they've been treated and the fact that their population was forcibly displaced during the reign of the Allies in their homeland, they were out for revenge.
All this time, the Austronesian Republican Empire continued to reach new heights in technology and advancements in every sector of society. It became a haven for refugees running away from all the chaos, which the Austronesians welcomed with open arms. It significantly benefited them because numerous scientists worldwide were moving toward them to seek safety.
With enough population, fertile lands, and knowledge, the Austronesians could speed up their industrialization, especially by introducing an Industrial Policy and welfare for their citizens. By this time, the Austronesians were a place of envy by numerous nations, especially the degraded United States, whose economy tanked and is struggling with a second economic depression and brain drain.
Now, a decade after the signing of the treaty that ended the Third World War, the resurgent National Socialists made a shot that echoed through the entire world by invading its neighbor, Poland. This event, however, once again set off a chain of numerous events.
The Paternal Autocrats saw this as an opportunity to revamp their economies, so they crossed the pond and invaded the Fourth Reich. The Soviet Union, seeing this as an opportunity to reassert their influences in Eastern Europe and possibly central and western Europe, marched their armies west of their country.
Unfortunately, many people still have fresh knowledge of what happened before this event, refusing to be invaded again and being humiliated. The Germans invaded Austria, pierced through the Italian Alps, and made their way towards Rome, supported by various Italian Mafias. A new Fascist Italy was born, so the New Millennium Axis arose from the ashes of its past. Nations that refused to be influenced by the Soviets again joined the AxisAxis, such as Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Czechoslovakia, with the Czechoslovakians still bitter that they were annexed in the past, begrudgingly joined them in a united effort to stop the red menace.
Though they were surprised that Czechoslovakia joined the AxisAxis, it must have been a desperate time. Now with fascist powers beside their borders, Yugoslavia, headed by Joseph Tito, made arrangements with the Soviet Union to join a Resurgent Warsaw Pact; although they had disagreements in the past, a united effort was a must; with fascism back in Europe, they must undoubtedly stop their influence from breaking out. Thus, the tables are now in place. The Fourth World War started and ended with the signing of the Treaty of Manila on November Nineteen, Ninety-Nine. It had left much of the world's power in political disarray and economic downturns for almost a decade.
The resulting great power turned out to be neutral nations like the Austronesian Republican Empire, Thailand, Spain, and India, with almost all South America reaching a formidable amount of power. Unfortunately, the Middle East could have been a significant power, too; however, being such a strategic place, due to oil, they were invaded, too. Still, they refused to join anybody's faction. Instead, they created their faction, the New Treaty of Sadabad Pact, consisting of Iraq, Syria, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia, among others.
Nevertheless, it is such an understatement to call this a bloody century that everyone wants to leave the century behind already. Thus, everyone was waiting for the turn of the century so that peace might ensue. It is utterly ridiculous to think that in an entire century, Four World Wars transpired, and they were all interconnected; it was as if there was a delete button in the world, and some mad douchebag spam clicked it. Millions upon millions, quite possibly reaching a billion, lives have been lost.
The actual number of deaths might never be known, but as the days of war progressed, thousands of thousands of holes filled with dead bodies were being filled; indeed, it was a sight of mass graves. It was so much that people that the people who were supposed to be counting the dead had joined the ranks of the dead. With such dwindling human resources, they couldn't spare a single human resource to count their losses, so the loss of life might never be known.
