Chapter 5 - 05: Dr. Flint with Two Faces

Many people in this world have two sides.

Jacob Flint is one of them. He treats everyone politely; even the colleagues at the hospital's nurse's desk like him very much.

"Director Flint!"

"Director Flint!"

As Jacob Flint passed by the nurse's desk, he greeted them with a smile, "Morning!"

"You're working hard!"

"It seems there will be more people today!"

The two nurses at the desk replied politely, "You work so hard!"

Jacob Flint suddenly had an idea. He stepped forward and smiled, "Oh yes, I heard that the family in Ward 294 is struggling financially!"

"It's really not easy to get medical treatment these days!"

"I think they're pitiful. If they haven't paid the hospitalization fees yet, give them a few more days to gather the money."

With a look of compassion, Jacob Flint said, "Alas, I have a soft heart and can't bear to see people suffer."

"If the hospital asks about this, just tell them I approved it."

"Try to give the patients as much time as possible to raise the money."

The two nurses at the desk, unaware of his true intentions, really believed that the director was a kind man. They immediately praised him: "Oh, you worry so much!"

"You're such a kind person!"

"Yes, always thinking of the patients!"

When they praised Jacob Flint like this, he waved his hand playfully and said, "No, no. We all understand each other. Help out where you can!"

After that, he turned around and said, "Okay, I'm heading back!"

This was a subtle misunderstanding.

On the surface, Jacob Flint seemed like a compassionate man, always thinking about the patients. This is why, whenever a complaint arose, his colleagues across the entire hospital department found it hard to believe.

In the eyes of most people, he was a good, warm-hearted doctor.

How could he possibly exploit patients, extorting money from them or even driving their families to despair?

But in reality, when he fought to delay the hospital bills, it was only to give the families more time to gather money for him.

...

Tick.

Tick.

Time continued to pass, and finally, the fourth day arrived.

The wind in the middle of the night was slightly cool, and on the quiet street, everything seemed normal.

Arthur was wearing a gray coat. He smiled and warmed himself with a sip of hot milk tea. It was eleven o'clock at night, and there were still several hours left before his plan would unfold.

He had actually been hiding in the shadows these past few days, observing the entire action plan and the changes in the world.

He repeatedly compared the real world with the image in his deduction.

Since the video of his final deduction had been downloaded and saved, he was more confident in the success rate of his plan after comparing them.

Everything was exactly the same.

The timing of passersby, the time it rained, even the moment a leaf fell by chance—everything was completely synchronized with the video saved in the game.

This meant that he only needed to repeat what he had done during the deduction at the same key points, and the disastrous accident would unfold as planned.

There was a hint of amusement in his eyes, but in truth, he fully understood what Dr. Flint had done.

Dr. Flint's evil deeds, including the tragic fate of the family harmed by his negligence, would eventually lead to an investigation into the car accident.

But that didn't matter.

Arthur had left no incriminating traces, and it was destined to be ruled an accidental car crash with no connection to him.

In fact, Arthur had prepared an anonymous letter of evidence, which detailed all of Dr. Flint's ugly and unethical behavior.

Of course, Arthur wouldn't deliver the letter himself.

Doing so would place him on the suspect list.

After the accident, he would deliver the evidence to the victim's family in a special way, avoiding any detection through his repeated deductions.

Let the family of the person driven to death by this morally corrupt doctor decide whether to expose Dr. Flint's crimes.

The crime would be revealed after death.

It would serve as some consolation for the patients who had suffered under his care.

"Well, it's almost time!"

Wearing a hat, Arthur walked down the street where the accident was set to happen in two hours and entered a stairwell.

He looked up at the stairwell. It was his first time here in person.

But through his infinite deductions, Arthur was already familiar with every part of the terrain. Even if he closed his eyes, he could still walk upstairs without a mistake.

It was remarkable, truly remarkable.

If anyone had witnessed this, they would have been shocked.

Arthur closed his eyes but moved as if he had insight into everything—the spots where the stairs were dirty, where there were banana peels, where bicycles were blocking the path, and where there was dirty water.

He navigated it all perfectly.

A smile crept onto Arthur's face, and he closed his eyes with a meaningful expression.

He had walked this staircase at least eighty times during his simulations.

If he had to climb it in real life, he would have refused, but since this was part of his deduction and simulation process, he didn't mind at all.

In fact, he was tireless.

He closed his eyes, relying entirely on the memory stored in his mind, and made his way to the ninth floor—his planned destination.

Here, a quilt was hanging outside on a clothes drying rack, swaying in the breeze.

Arthur slowly opened his eyes and chuckled softly, "It's you!"

Then he stood still, quietly watching the time on his watch...

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

Not a single second could be missed, because the moment of the car accident was fleeting.

Finally, the time came.

Arthur reached out and gently pushed the drying rack three centimeters outward. It seemed like a small, insignificant movement, but those three centimeters would set off a chain reaction in two hours.

And ultimately, it would lead to a tragic car accident.

Let that well-dressed, morally corrupt doctor be sent to hell...
