Since David was already here, Herald decided to take David out to show him something. From where he was, he called David's name. On hearing his name, David turned to see his uncle standing over there and so he walked up to him.
"I want to show something, come with me." Herald said to him.
"Where are we going?" David asked.
"You will know when we get there, now come on lets go." He answered.
David could not do anything but follow his uncle even though he was not done talking with the other men.
Herald went one and David followed him, they went out of the compound and started to walk on the street.
David was clueless about where they were but he could not ask his uncle about it. After a while, herald stop in a street and it seemed like he had arrived at his destination but David was confused because they were just in a street.
"Why did, we stop?" David asked.
"We have arrived." Herald answered.
"Arrived where? Where are we?" David asked again.
"Since you have joined the family, you should know how to identify a family member anywhere not only in the compound." Herald said.
David was sure he could identify them because most of them wore the same thing, but when he looked around, not of the people around wore what he thought which was surprising to him and he could not identify them.
"You need to know that the people that stay in the street are our eyes, they watch the street and tell us any strange activities going on that can implicate us or course us any trouble." Herald explained.
Herald looked at David and he knew that David was not going to try, so he decided to tell him more things about the eyes on the street.
"Our eyes on the street are not men, they are boys, some around your age and they do not stay at the compound, only Hitmen and above can stay at the compound.
That way the eyes can still live their lives without being watched a lot by the police." Herald explained. "So now there are four eyes now in this street and you should tell me who they are." He continued.
After all Herald said, David could not identify who the eyes were but he also had a lot of questions going through his mind but he did not ask his uncle any of them.
He looked around and realized that most people in the street are around his age and it was still hard to know whom the eyes were.
He just stood there looking. He did not want to tell his uncle that he did not know how to identify the eyes because after all his uncle's explanations, he was expected to know them.
He decided to think, if he was an eye on the street where would he stay, what would he be doing and how are he going to look.
David looked around the area again and realized that there were two people who had been standing next to a wall for a while now and they were not men so he knew that those two were among the eyes on the street.
"Over there." David used his head to point at a direction. "Those two standing near the wall there." He continued.
Herald shock his head to show that he was right. David felt happy but he knew that he still had two left to find.
David went on to look around the area, then he saw some group of people gambling at one corner of the street and from the look of it, just one guy was smiling a lot there because he was wining and he gambled with a lot of money.
David thought that in this city, for a young person to have that kind of money, he had to be into something serious and for him gamble, meant that the way he got the money was not the right way.
David was not completely sure if the person was one of the eyes on the street. But then he was completely sure when the same person walked past the other two eyes and the way he looked at them with the smile on his face made him sure.
"The guy that just past those two eyes is one of them." David said to Herald.
Herald shock his head again but David did not understand why his uncle was just nodding his head, he thought that he would have gotten a better reaction from him.
David lost interest in trying to impress his uncle and now he just wanted to find the last person and get this over with.
David went on to find the last person. While he was looking, he could not find anyone. This final one really got to him, after a while, he could not find anyone so he started to think that maybe there was no other person, he thought his uncle was just messing with him.
On the other hand, his uncle never mess around or joke with anything so he kept on looking. There was a shop at the other side of the road and someone came out of the shop, immediately David watched him because that was the only person he had not seen.
The person walked around for a while but he did not seem to leave that area so David knew that he had to be the last person, he was not sure but he just had to say it because he was tired of standing and watching the street.
"That guy over there, they one that is walking, he is that last one." David said without looking at his uncle.
Herald was impressed that he managed to find him but he did not ask him how.
"That was really impressive." Herald said. David was surprised that his uncle said something. "Now you know how to identify any of them, don't go talking to them much, there are some things you can't say to them, I know you are smart enough to know that. If you want, you can come back to the compound."
David watched Herald as he left but he did not want to go back to the compound so he just stood there looking around, after a while he went to the apartment.
Some few days past and David was surprised that Leonard had not called him since then.
One mind of his did not want Leonard to call him while another wanted him to call because somehow, when he did the last assignment he had never felt better and he just wanted to do it again.
It was morning and David just woke up, he took a shower and ate. Herald was not in the apartment and after David joined the cartel, he has not been at the apartment, he comes rarely and David did not know why.
