"And, I'm one-hundred percent broke!"
Yuna sings balancing on the park bench. Her arms were stretched out.
There was no one but her and the fireflies dancing around the street light. She didn't want to think about the burger she spent the last of her money on. Sure her job is covering her apartment but, she has the feeling that her landlord won't be happy to see her. No matter how many excuses she comes up with, she'll just be met with an open palm.
Sure she has friends, but she'll be embarrassed to ask to stay there for a while. She doesn't want to call her sister either, don't need a broke auntie sleeping on the couch. Maybe she'll take some money from her savings to rent a hotel room.
"Please, god give me a sign-"
There was a loud crash from besides her. It was a man whose head was deep in the garbage can. His legs were dangling in the air.
Is that a homeless person? Wait is that rude to say?
Yuna thought to herself as she cringed at the man's struggle. She jumps off the bench and jogged towards garbage man.
"Hey, calm down, let me help!" Yuna screamed as the man's wild kicks slowed down. "Just hold still."
***
"Thanks!" The Homeless man laughs as he was scratching the back of his head. His hair was black with his bangs covering his eyes. He wore a long black coat as if trying to blend into the night sky. Her wore a golden key around his neck. "What are you doing here?"
"Nothing, just enjoying the night air." Yuna explained as she looks away from the man.
"Ah, don't know where to go?"
"No, well, kinda." Yuna grumbled.
"Me neither." The man chuckled a bit. "How was the walk going?"
"Okay, nothing much to do." Yuna looks at the homeless man again. "May I ask why you were in a garbage can?"
"Was trying to run away from my problems. More like my roommates." He smirks.
"But, why go garbage diving?" Yuna rises her eyebrow as she was examining the man. He looked around his mid 30's.
"Because, that's where I belong. I've done something really dumb. Like, really dumb. I don't think I deserve to live there anymore." He whispered as his sly grin shifts to a bitter smile.
"Come on man, don't say that. I'm sure once you buy them pizza you'll be forgiven." Yuna commented as she lightly pat his back.
"You mortals are so simple minded. I find that endearing."
"Uh, you're a mortal too." Yuna shot back with a chuckle.
"Here, have this." The man took off the golden key around his neck. "You need it more then I do."
"Wait, is that the key to your home? I don't need it!"
"Oh trust me, you do. I think it's my time to go." The man said.
"Wait, you didn't even tell me your name, or where you live or even if your roommates are okay with this-" Yuna was complaining but the man shoved the key onto her hands.
"Oh trust me, I know you're homeless right now. And just take the red train to the last stop, and yes it's the large abandoned house with the purple roof. You'll see someone waiting at the door." The man was on explaining as the wind around them picks up.
"What? Who even are you?" Yuna shouts over the winds.
The man smiles as he stands up and grins. "Just tell them that," the winds picked up as it revealed his crimson eyes. "Roy sent you and you're the new Saint of Red."
"Wha-"
The winds roar as the autumn leaves block Yuna's vision and there was an abrupt stop.
The man was gone. Roy was gone.
"The fuck is the Saint of Red?"
