Chapter 18 - Chapter 9- A cheerful presentation

Judith's POV:

"Although I was aware of the impact of the news, I didn't expect Hasumi and Janeth to go crazy."

Although my original intention was to give the news and take the reins of the meeting to establish some kind of strategy against the heroes, the news was much worse received than I expected. Even after trying to calm them down, I haven't really made much progress. When I thought I couldn't move forward in the meeting, a thunderclap resounded throughout the room accompanied by a deep sigh.

- Janeth, Hasumi, could you get serious for once?

- Y-yes, Madam

Cathelaya with a bitter expression looked at them both with disapproval while sighing, it was quite frustrating that she fixed it in such a simple way.

"If I could do that, I would have wished she would have done it from the beginning."

- Do you have something to say Judith?

- No, ma'am.

- I thought so.

With that, the 3 returned to their seats. When I did the same, I noticed that Nath wasn't in her seat. After briefly scanning the room I saw her lying on the drug addict's lap next to my seat. When I tried to complain to Carla Cathelaya's piercing gaze sent a chill down my spine so I decided to sit down first. Another deep sigh was heard in the room.

- Why do I have to take care of the kids? I'd appreciate some help here you know? Emily, Mia.

At the mention of her name, a small child looked up from a watch he was holding.

- Me? Why would you involve a poor child like me in an adult talk, Grandma Cathelaya?

A sad expression crossed the child's expression as Cathelaya looked at him with contempt.

- Grandma Cathelaya? Do you think you can fool me with that? You're older than me!

- How cruel!

Despite Cathelaya's complaints, the boy only smiled maliciously at Cathelaya. As if giving up on him, she turned to look at Emily.

- And you? What's your excuse?

- Hihihi, isn't it more fun this way?

Another long sigh echoed in the room. It seemed like Cathelaya was about to cry. I cleared my voice to avoid a serious fight between Cathelaya and Emily.

- Back to the topic. It's vital that we organize some countermeasures against the demonic swords.

- Can't we just let them be? It's not like it's a problem for me really, in fact, I almost wish they would come for me. I'm longing for a change of look.

Mia's look, even as a child, sent a chill down my spine.

- Don't say it as if we're all as strong as you, you damn monster.

- Not all of us have survived a holy war, old woman in disguise.

Hasumi's audible complaints echoed at Mia's words.

- Hehehehe, I thought you were just a cowardly brat, but you have guts after all.

- Hiiiii

Hasumi's face turned into dread. She immediately ran to hide behind her chair, almost trembling.

- Don't bully Hasumi too much.

Cathelaya tried to avoid bloodshed in vain.

- Didn't you hear that insolent woman? I'm not liking this form anymore. My subordinates are forgetting their place and becoming insolent.

After that, the child exploded into a mass of disgusting flesh that writhed vigorously. After a few moments of writhing, he slowly took the form of an older woman of great stature with enormous muscles.

- I haven't seen you in that form for a long time, Mia.

- Of course not! I prefer a cuter way when we have these little talks with each other, but if someone is going to underestimate me for that, then that's a different matter.

A small groan came from behind the furniture Hasumi had hidden behind. The conversation between Cathelaya and Mia had gone off topic again.

- Could we get back on topic already? At this rate the meeting will never end.

At my complaints, Mia just snorted in rejection while looking at me over her shoulder.

- Shut up! That forming groups thing is only for the weak. I don't need such an annoying meeting.

- Hey…

After saying those words, Mia vanished through the double doors of the living room.

- Hihihi, in that case I'm leaving too.

- You too Emily?

- I mean, Mia's right this time. Forming groups isn't fun.

After saying that, she also vanished through the door.

- I-Is she gone already?

After saying that, Hasumi walked out of her spot and sat back down in her seat looking relieved. I had no choice but to sigh and continue with the meeting.

- Getting back to the topic, to avoid getting killed we need to make groups that will help us exploit our strengths to survive.

- And what will we do with that pair?

Janeth, who was panicking a moment ago, had finally calmed down and started to speak.

- As they mentioned, both Emily and Mia are the strongest witches among us. I don't think they'll have any trouble surviving on their own.

A sigh came out of Janeth's lips.

- Poor souls who don't know love...

In the middle of our discussion, a small hand rose in the air.

- Nath? What's wrong?

After hesitating a bit with some nervousness, she looked up and finally began to speak.

- Is Mrs. Mia that strong?

The room fell silent momentarily while the other witches looked at Nath with curiosity or pity.

- It's true that I haven't introduced you yet, right? I suppose this is a good opportunity. Girls, that little girl over there is called Natasha and she will be the flower witch.

At my introduction, Nath timidly lowered her head while still sitting on the drug addict's lap. Taking the lead, she introduced herself.

- Then I'll start, nice to meet you Natasha, I'm Carla the potions witch.

At the drug addict's enthusiasm, the others introduced themselves energetically.

- I am Janeth, a slave, passionate desirer and promoter of love. I am also known as the witch of charm.

-…Did you have to say it that way?

-Love is something that has to be transmitted with passion and strength, where was my presentation wrong?

A deep sigh came out of my throat, I just hope that nothing strange sticks to Nath.

-I am Cathelaya, the weather witch. It's a pleasure, little one, you can call me grandma.

-You are so weak with children, grandma.

At the drug addict's comment, Cathelaya only turned her face away in embarrassment.

-A-am I the last one? I am the dice witch, Hasumi. A pleasure, little lady.

-The dice witch?

-Oh? Are you curious about my power, little one?

At Nath's nod, she got up from her seat and went to the coffee table in the living room, there she took out from under the sleeve of her strange dress a small box from which 3 dice came out.

- Could you give me some numbers miss?

- A number? … five?

- Well then let's get started.

After saying that, she took the box where the dice were and began to turn it around the room as if she was dancing with it. After a few moments, she opened the box and placed all the dice on the table while they were still spinning on their own axis, after a few moments the dice stopped exactly on the number 5.

- Ohhhh

Nath let out a snort of admiration as he watched how the 3 dice ended up on the number 5.

- And it's not over yet!

Taking another box out of her sleeve, another 3 dice were taken out of them and she tossed them into the air dramatically as she spun them erratically until they landed on the table showing a 5 on the 3 new dice. Nath's hands clapped energetically as he looked at the dice still with his blank expression.

- As you can see, Hasumi is the weakest witch among us, since her power is only to manipulate the dice in this way.

- I would prefer that you did not formulate it that way…

Hasumi gave me a reproachful look at my comment.

- But it is incredible!

- Just as a street show.

Hasumi, offended by my comments, took the dice she had left on the table and sat back down reluctantly.

- Well, although they are not here I suppose that I will introduce them, the witches who left are Emily, the witch of death and Mia the witch of appearances.

- Of appearances?

- Yes, her power is basically to take the form of any living being she touches, although before she made that grotesque transformation, her changes are not so slow.

She seemed genuinely impressed by the powers of the other witches. Given this good atmosphere, something broke the silence.

- Taking advantage of the fact that we are together, I want to bring up a topic for conversation.

The drug addict, who had remained silent until that moment, spoke while raising her hand.

- I would like the right to be Natasha's teacher to be transferred to me.

- … Ahh?

Before I even had time to process what she said, my hostility shot out towards the drug addict who still had Natasha on her lap.
