Chapter 20 - Interlines 2- The determination of lightning

Alejandro's POV:

A white hall with flashing gold and gem inlays fills my view as I look up. There, a huge demon with snow-white wings faces 7 other beautiful angels, each with different weapons in their hands. A crude and clear image of good versus evil.

"Was it really okay to just leave like that?"

- I lost all my motivation to attend when they decided to put me on reserve, I can't believe they won't let me go hunt the beast witch now that I have you Chan.

A small spark of light fluttered on my shoulder as I walked down a luxurious hallway and listened to myself complain.

- I mean, they let the fire brat have his first big victory and they want me in the rear? I can't stand this stupidity.

"Even if you say that, what else can we do but follow orders? After what happened with the Shadow Witch, it's likely that the witches will also organize themselves to prevent us from hunting them."

- Organize? They're merely witches Chan, they're no different than rabid beasts with too much power.

"You say that, but do you think you can fight the legendary Witch of Deception and the Witch of Beasts together?"

- Ummm…, I guess even for me that would be too much. But that's not the only thing that worries me, I suspect there's a new witch that we don't know anything about.

"A new witch? What makes you think that?"

- My subordinates found 2 bodies of the Lightning Gang on our last excursion. One of them seemed to have died because of a wild animal but the other… ughh, it was so grotesque that I don't even want to remember it.

"Even if you say that, was it really a good idea to not say anything about that matter at the meeting?"

- Of course I considered it, but there were 2 compelling reasons why I didn't say anything.

"2 reasons?"

- The first is because I have no proof of it yet, it could just be that the Witch of Deception or the Witch of Death passed by and killed my companion. I have no solid proof of the existence of another witch.

"And the other?"

- That my honor as a Lightning Hero is at stake here. If I depend on the Apella for any problem that arises in my territory, the other heroes will begin to take me lightly. That is something that for the sake of Granest I am not willing to tolerate.

"So in the end it is your pride…"

- Don't misunderstand Chan, it is not only my pride, but that of my entire nation that I carry.

Waving my cape, I quicken my pace as I look ahead, determined to protect my country with my own hands.
