Chapter 2 - Infiltrated the security center

Rami began his journey home after buying some food from the market. On his way, he encountered Edmund, the gang leader, along with the people who had attacked him previously. He tried to avoid them quietly, choosing to walk along side streets to evade any confrontation.

When he arrived home, his sister Layla greeted him warmly. He handed her the food he had bought, as their supplies had run out this week. Soon, the delicious aroma of the meal Layla was preparing filled the house; she was talented in cooking and had made a warm and appetizing meal. While waiting for the food, Rami sat in a corner of the house, lost in thought.

He pondered the information he had overheard at the security center about the special serum. He knew that this serum could be the key to transforming him into a sorcerer or warrior—a rare opportunity in their world. In this world, those who possess such powers can attract investments, attain high positions, and potentially become a city lord if they advance further. This would bring him closer to achieving his revenge.

However, Rami understood that infiltrating the security center was no easy task. Although most guards were ordinary individuals, there were officers with superhuman abilities, making it difficult to access the serum without being detected. As he considered how to breach the center, the flames in the kitchen caught his attention, sparking a risky but feasible idea.

Layla asked about his well-being, and he reassured her that it was just a minor issue. To ensure her safety and to take precautions, he asked her to spend the night at a friend's house. Although surprised by the request, she agreed immediately. He wrote a note for her to open if he was late in the morning. After taking Layla to her friend's house, Rami returned home. On his way, he passed by Edmund's house and noticed the family's clothes hanging to dry. A clever idea struck him: he took the clothes Edmund had worn and returned home.

Rami waited until nightfall, then donned old clothes and covered his face. When he arrived at the security center, he saw two guards at the gate and decided to climb the wall. He headed to the southern part of the center where the storage building was located and climbed the wall with difficulty. Once he confirmed that no one was nearby, he rested. Despite having healed, his body was still weak, and he had never learned self-defense or practiced any training in his previous life. After resting briefly, he decided to move forward. Instead of heading north to the serum, he went south where there was only one guard due to most guards being relocated to the prison.

He avoided the guard and reached the weapons and gunpowder storage room. As a cleaner, he was familiar with all the locations in the center. He started a fire in a wooden box, avoiding igniting the gunpowder directly to prevent a massive explosion.

He ran quickly, leaving the center without being seen. After a minute, a huge explosion occurred. He looked up at the sky, wishing his sister were there to see the beautiful view, as it looked like fireworks.

He tried to ignore the beautiful sight and headed towards the prison. After the explosion, he expected everyone to go put out the fire before it spread to the security center. He knew that most of the guards were unaware of the special serum and assumed that someone was attacking the prison to free a prisoner. This was not the first time they had received such news, so it did not surprise anyone. The security chief had hidden the serum to prevent theft by the guards, which led to their negligence in guarding the prison.

Upon arriving at the prison, the situation was as chaotic as expected, with everyone running around. He took advantage of the chaos and walked calmly towards the prison. No one paid him any attention amidst the confusion. He reached the entrance, where a single guard stood, confused about whether to join the others or remain at his post.

When the guard saw him, he drew his weapon and asked who he was. Rami quickly waved his hand and said, "I am Rami." As the guard approached and saw his face clearly, he asked, bewildered, why he was there at that time. Rami waved his hand and explained that he had forgotten something at the center and had returned to retrieve it. He had seen the explosion and happened to see the chief, who had asked him to deliver a message to the person guarding the prison.

Despite the flaws in his story, the guard didn't suspect him due to the chaotic situation. Rami approached him and asked him to lower his head. Though puzzled, the guard complied, thinking it might be important. Rami whispered, "You should have gone with the others," into the guard's ear. Before the guard could react, felt a knife pierce his head.

The feeling of disgust was overwhelming; it was not only Rami's first time killing someone, but the experience was more unsettling than he had anticipated. He felt a strong urge to vomit, but he forced himself to endure it to avoid detection. In this world of supernatural powers, who knew what methods might be used to track someone? It was crucial to remain calm and focused to avoid any potential tracking.

After completing the task, Rami quickly covered his head again to avoid being recognized by any prisoners. Since he was in a relatively dark area, the prisoners had not had a chance to see his features clearly, only catching a glimpse of his silhouette. He avoided any unnecessary movement to prevent his position from being revealed.
