Chapter 26 - We'll see about that

Sara stared at Alex, waiting for him to speak, but it didn't seem he would be doing that any time soon. She coughed to get his attention, but he didn't look up at her, causing her to frown. "Mr Legend, I think I am ready for the explanation now," she said, but all she got was a hum and a soft nod of his head.

Waiting a few more minutes and still nothing changed, she stood and went around the desk to stand by his side. She opened her mouth to speak but went silent when she saw what was on the screen of his computer.

"Give me a moment more, and I will explain everything to you," she thought he would close the page on her, but he did not. She saw everything that was in it.

She could not believe it was a chat with his first secretary, and it was centered around her. Sara blinked and blinked again, but she still saw the same thing.

"Is this a game to you?" She asked. throwing a sharp glare at him.

Alex sighed and closed the chat and then looked up at her. "I was only asking hom to return because I need him here. There is no need for him to delay his return. Why do you look so angry, Sweartheat?" He asked, but her gaze did not soften. "Beside, you were drunk last night. Today you are in a mess. I need someone who can hold his wine ans work everyday or at least a substitute."

"His return? And a sub?" She asked, and he nodded his head very innocently. His exoressoonalso threw her off because it looked as if she was accusing him of a crime he did not commit. "Why am I all over it?" She asked with her hand on hips. He smiled, and she increased the intensity of her gaze, and the smile retreated.

She looked so adorable like that it took him a lit of effort, not smiling, and pinch her cheek. Did she k ow she was acting like a dominant wife right now? He doubted she noticed that.

"He said you are here, and he isn't needed. Nothing much," Alex replied, but she didn't buy it. There eas too much about her on that screen that she would believe it was just the silly words that they exchanged.

There was more than that in their discussion. He let her see their conversation, thinking she might grasp it, but she didn't, and this had him rethinking his decision to tell her now. Perhaps it still wasn't the right time to let me know what was happening. He could still keep her hidden for a while longer, and once he couldn't anymore, he could then tell her. Leaving little hints for her to pick up wouldn't hurt.

"Fine, I'm leaving. I still have to go work," she said, and he raised a brow. "It's Friday," she said, and he chuckled.

"You aren't well. I will let you off of a sick leave, rest for today, and resume once you are better," Alex said. She didn't seem to realize how late it was, and the fact that she still had a headache also seemed to elude her at the moment.

"But…shhh," she closed her eyes and hissed. It was as if the headache wanted to prove that he was right and she needed the rest. "Fine," she sighed and resigned herself to wasting her day. She could go out with her friends again because they would either be in the same position as she was or worse than her. "I'll go home then. Thank you for taking care of me."

"It's was a pleasure to have so close to me. You have no idea how happy I am," Alex replied, and her glare returned.

"This cages nothing, Alex," she said, but he smirked.

That was a lie, and she knew it.

Who spends a night on the bed of the man they knew had a thing for them and expects nothing to change? First, it was a kiss she couldn't bring herself to evade, and now, she was sleepy peacefully in his arms for an entire night. She was not a brick to not have felt a thing.

It was her fault for thinking drinking could help get rid of those thoughts and warm feelings that were starting to envelop her heart. Was her resolve so shallow?

"We'll see about that," Alex replied with confidence in his tone.

The confidence in his tone irritated her, but she also knew if she wasn't careful, he would have his way with her. Those words will become reality.

"It is not proper to drink as much as you did yesterday, Sara. You don't seem to be one who call hold her alcohol. Please don't do tha again," he said before she could leave.

Sara stopped by the door ans heard what he said. She didy turn to look at him and she didn't either. Once he was done talking, she left ans closed the door behind.

She heaved a sigh of relief after closing the door. She placed a hand over her chest as she felt her own heart beat against her palm. She didnt know how or when it syaryed but he heary started to beat faster eveuthing she wws near him. Even the mere thought of him has her heartbeat accelerating. Everything started since that kiss yesterday which was what prompted her to drink so much. Yes she knew she couldn't hold her drink but she wanted to get lost and out of those thoughts. But now, she onky made things worse.

Inky she knew how comfortable she felt when she woke up ans found an arm draped around her, holding her close like she was a precious treasure. The warmth from his body sipped into her which momentarily made her immobile and wanting more sleep. It was until she realized that she didn't have any man in her life that sprung up and out of bed immediately. Seeing the man's face, her already accelerated heartbeat stabilized.

She refused to believe that she was relieved that he was the word and rather flared at him. How could be received to be in his arms? It was absurd even thinking about it.

"Are you alright, Miss," Mrs Lawson's voice pulled her from her train of thoughts ans she smiled.

"Yes. I am I alright," she replied and quickly walked past her. Remembering so.ething she stopped. "Mrs Lawson," she called and the woman turned to face her. "My clothes, are they ready?" Sara blushed because she had forgot she was still in Alex's shirt.

"Yes, but rhe Young Master has ordered a new set of clothes for you. They are in his room. You will find them on the bed," tye woman replied.

"Okay, thank you," she said and left after Mrs Lawson nodded her head.
