"What's wrong" Lucas asked after seeing Liam's incredulous expression.
"Nothing." Liam said shaking his head.
Liam stared back at the girls but this time he couldn't hear them, he could only see faintly their mouth moving in silence murmur.
Liam felt like he just hallucinated and what he heard wasn't real.
But he wasn't a small child anymore, he could tell when he heard something. And he could swear that he heard something just now.
But why couldn't he hear them anymore?
Meanwhile, Max walked to and fro in a cell like room as his face looked very worried. He was paicing around and once in awhile he'd put his hands on his head in worry.
His mind wandered on what he could do but after s long time of thinking there was nothing he could do.
Evening was slowly approaching as the day was coming to an end.
Max who was sitting down in deep thought suddenly stood up as his eyes flew open.
The hunger!!!
It was coming, he could feel it, after some few days of being vampire, he could tell when that strange hunger for blood was coming.
Max face changed drastically as the hunger took hold of him, this time though it was slowly coming and he could hold himself but he knew he wouldn't be able to do so before the next day came.
And he wouldn't be able to tell what he will do when his consciousness fades.
Two hours later towards late evening Max by now was already shaking due to the hunger, it was driving him insane. But for now he could still hold on.
Suddenly, the door of the cell opened and a man in uniform entered with a tray of food, it was for Max.
Max looked up, his eyes bloodshot, as he saw the man, the man's veins became easily visible and blood flowing sound were sounding like drums in his ears.
The man's heart beat became unusually loud.
"Go away." Max shouted as he looked away from the man. He felt the urge to rush up to the man and fill up this insatiable hunger.
"What do you mean." The cop said looking confused. Max clutching of his head and shouting somehow striked fear into him.
"I said drop the food and go away." Max roared.
The cop man was immediately annoyed.
Who the hell was this prisoner raising his voice for?
"You've got to be kidding me, who the hell are you shouting at." The man out of anger also raised his voice.
Max slowly turned around his eyes blood shut, the color in his eys red.
"I said you should get out of here" Max said every word slowly as he stepped closer to the man, his voice was unusually deep.
The man immediately panicked as he saw what Max looked like, he immediately panicked and hastily dropped the food on the ground as he turned tails and ran away from the cell.
He got out and immediately locked the cell while his heart was beating rapidly.
This was 8:30pm and Liam stood outside the school gate his face filled with worry.
Max wasn't back yet, he wondered why the cops took him. But that wasn't what worried him the most.
Max bloody hunger!
That was what bothered him the most, if that hunger should kick in then Max might just be killed in that station as they'd see him as a beast.
He stood outside here because he was trying to take a cab to the station. He couldn't let Max get killed.
Meanwhile in an office, dimly lit with white light, Dan sat on a chair and there was a table filled with books and files in front of him, he looked at a man who was standing in front of him incredulously like he just heard the biggest joke ever.
"Lieutenant Dan, I'm serious about what I just said, I don't know where you brought that young man from but you have to take him away from this place, he is a monster" The man in front was unsurprisingly the man that was shooed away by max few minutes ago.
"Did his teeth change to that of an animal?" Dan asked curiously. This strange report just seemed to rhythm with what that young man in the hospital said about Max
"No..no it didn't, but his eyes had no white color and only had red in it." The man replied.
"Sam, you know that there is no cameras installed in the cell we put Max in, he has committed no crime yet as far as we could prove, and what you just said seemed too bizarre to be believed" Dan shook his head, from his observations Max seemed like any normal student on a normal day.
And to him Sam just seemed to be seeing things because he was present when he was interviewing Max, so he'd carry this subconscious thinking with him that Max was a monster.
So he might have just be seeing things.
"You have to believe me, you can go check for yourself" Sam said as he turned and walked out of the room.
Dan sat down contemplating on the words Sam told him, after thinking about what the young man told him about Max, his curiousity piqued.
What if the man wasn't seeing things and Max was a monster, a human monster?
Dan immediately got up from his seat as he made way towards the cell.
As he headed towards the cell, a man on uniform came up to him, his uniform seemed quite different from the others working as cops.
"Sir Dan!" He called out.
"Yes?" Dan answered as he turned around.
"A young man came requesting that he wanted to see his friend." The man replied.
"And that is what you came to report to me? Quickly send him out and know how to do your job properly!" Dan said with annoyance.
"I tried to send him out but he told me about you, he said he knew you" The man said with his head lowered.
"He knew me? Did he tell you my name?" Dan asked confused, who could that be? He thought.
"Yes, he did"
Meanwhile Liam stood just outside the gate his face twitching.
At first he didn't know that man's name but his super hearing kicked in again and he heard the conversation between Dan and the man called Sam.
So Liam knew, he knew that Max was getting hungry again!
