Chapter 23 - Spread the Information about the Fortress

5:00pm

Bats went to visit Unit 203, the office of his father and the elders. At that time, They have a request to him, and that was to get for cements, smart/hollowblocks, rebars and other materials for construction. The reason was to change the barbed wire fence of the farmland at the back, livestock animals and also the solar plant from both side into a more reliable solid wall. The zombies doesn't feel even a slight pain. Though the people are safe from the fortress, they were afraid that if a horde came, the fence might not make it making their crops, the livestocks and the solar be destroyed. Well for Bats, the people's lives were important to him. He still has much food from his Space Store. But he agreed to their request as he want to expand the wall in the future making the houses of the villagers to be occupied again. He thought that the Fortress Building was almost full, there were only 6 vacant units.

Dec. 19,2024

Early in the morning, Bats was waiting for Samson to land the chopper at the rooftop.

Few minutes later...

"What about we transfer the fuel here, there are 5 gallons of diesel in the basement?" Bats shared his idea but,

Samson chuckled and replied,

"I'm sorry to say but the fuel we use on this chopper is different. There's a place not far from Loakan Airport, we must go there first and get some fuel."

Bats agreed on the spot. They needed that chopper to have a good view from above to plan for the safe passage transporting the materials they needed for construction. It would be easy if Bats uses his space ability, less manpower, less movement, less danger. But it's not time yet, he wants to let his team to gain more experience by venturing the city in this zombie apocalypse.

After an hour, Bats, Ricardo and Samson left. They arrived at the place where Samson was talking about. The place was an open area and there was a horde of zombies roaming outside the chain link fence. The horde of zombies started forcing themselves pushing the chain link fence just about 100 meters to them when they saw the chopper landing near the fuel station. The chopper landed.

Bats and Ricardo were in position taking cover if zombies started running towards them.

"Sh*t, there's no fuel coming out!" Samson said anxiously.

"How about those fuel tank trucks?" Bats replied.

Samson immediately ran then climb, he opened the lid of the fuel tank.

"No wonder theres no fuel coming out at the fuel station."

He immediately climb down then took the hose out. Good thing it reached the chopper.

"This will take time. I also need to fill this 5 gallons." Samson told them.

Bats took the opportunity to take the fuel at those remaining 5 big fuel tank trucks. Samson and Ricardo were curious of what Bats was doing. He waved his hand inside the lid making it hard to let Ricardo and Samson see a space fracture from his hand.

"Bats what are you doing climbing on that truck?" Ricardo asked.

But Bats didn't answer and repeat the process again. It took him less than five minutes to completely empty the 5 big fuel tank trucks. Ricardo and Samson were still a little bit confused and curious. Following that, the chain link fence gave up. The zombies started rushing...

"Sh*t! Incoming!" Ricardo shouted.

Gunshots started roaring. Every bullet shot the zombies. But there were too many of them, Ricardo was about to pull the pin of the grenade but was stopped by Bats.

"No, don't use grenades. It's dangerous, the fuel tank truck (The fuel tank truck used refueling the chopper) might explode." Bats told him.

Ricardo gritted his teeth as the zombies were too many.

"Samson, start the engine. Leave the gallons behind. We can't hold this horde. Five minutes and we'll be completely overwhelmed."

Samson rushed going inside and started the engine. The whirling sound started, Bats and Ricardo went inside.

"Bang!Bang!Bang!" The single shot mode coming from their rifles continue to roar. They were about 10 meters from the ground. But after a second, they saw a slow walking humongous sized outside the fence. It was about 6 meters in height and was fat probably a width of 2 meters. The disturbing scene was that, there were many zombie faces to be seen from this humongous creature.

The three were stunned for a while, their eyes widened as they were surprised seeing a creature like that. The three snapped when the saw a zombie flying towards them.

"Sh*t! This is not good! Fly away! Fly away Samson. That big guy is throwing the zombies!" Bats ordered.

Bats and Ricardo started shooting the humongous creature. Their magazines were emptied but the humongous creature wasn't dead yet. Seconds later, they were at least 200 meters away from the fuel station.

(That was close, I never thought we'd encounter that ugly Goliath.)

Mountainside Hotel

Gwen was crying inside her room. She was full of pain from losing Arthur and anger towards Bats. Her companions were anxious and trembling from the trauma they saw in front of them. Four of them were killed in the hands of Bats.

They didn't expect him to kill their companions on the spot. Following that, Gwen went out of her room. She began encouraging her companions to get revenge on Bats. But, she didn't expect that they replied her through complains.

"Gwen, didn't you just saw him? Not only he was armed, he didn't hesitated killing our friends. How do you expect us to take revenge on him?"

Gwen gritted her teeth seeing her companions doesn't have the guts and were not even trying.

"How about we expose his location? Not only that, but let's expose that his place will never worry about food. Imagine, survivors will start to venture going to his place or people in other surviving faction invade him."

"There will always be ruthless people surviving in this apocalyptic world. What do you think would happen if those kind of people go to Bats's place?"

Her companions became excited when they heard about her idea. For them, the internet is still working which favored them. Before they left Bats's village celebrating his sister's birthday, they took a picture of the fortress. They started posting about the location of Bats's Fortress via Facebook, Instagram, they even tried on TikTok even though they have less followers and also various group chat in messenger. After many hours of trying their best, their post on Facebook got a massive reply.

-Is this information correct? My team's supplies will be out soon and we're planning to go out later.-

-I'm an editor, and I could say this picture is real and not edited. Damn! That place must be heaven.-

-At last there's a safe place, I'll gamble going to that place instead of waiting to die in this city.-

-Judging by the wall, I bet that's made from a quality material! He must be a rich tycoon building such a place-

-Who wants to form a team on me? I plan to visit that place after New Year. Just DM me if you want to join my team-

-Will the owner even accept us if we go there?-

-If the owner doesn't accept us, how about we kick him out and take his place. We would rule that place. Judging by the location, that's a village I suppose. I bet the villagers there are not educated so we can brainwash them. Just saying. Hehe-

-That's right, we can brainwash the villagers and take control of that building.-

In Gwen's unit, evil smiles appeared on their faces. It was what they wanted, they totally exposed of Bats's location.

A prison in Baguio, there stood a bald man by the window with a phone on his right hand and a wine on his left hand. That man was a bit muscular and had a dragon tattoo on his neck and was wearing an orange shirt with a letter 'P' on the back. He was smiling like a pirate seeing a treasure.
