After inspecting the area the whole day, Bats, Ricardo and Samson returned to the fortress late at night. Bats assembled a meeting consisting of him, Ricardo and Eric. There were two main problem from the inspection happened. One, the road was completely blocked by cars. Two, there were many zombies roaming around at least more than hundreds of thousands. Bats was dumbfounded thinking if he will continue executing the mission. It will be more like a gamble. He never expected to see such number of zombies in the city.
Two hours later, a loud noise from a rotor blade of a chopper can be heard, it was a UH-60 Black Hawk. The inside of the building was a soundproof so they can't hear what was happening from the outside not unless the windows are open. Christian suddenly called Bats via a radio. Three of them immediately went outside when they heard about Christian's concern. When they were outside, a flash of light came from the searchlight from the rooftop appeared pointing the helicopter to land on the ground near the entrance while the three M249 of the front watchtower and snipers from the rooftop were pointed at the helicopter. Minutes later, the chopper landed. Then five armed men came out.
The security in charge that night were vigilant as they pointed all their guns towards them. Five armed men raised their hands as they walk closer towards Bats.
"We come in peace. We do not mean no harm."
Bats replied with his hand on his holster.
"Why should we believe you? And who are you?"
The captain of the team, Adam, answered.
"My name is Adam, the captain of this team. We're from the military camp at Baguio. We're here to discuss things with Bats. Let me pick my ID in my pocket."
Captain Adam slowly took his ID out his pocket. Ricardo was walking closer towards Adam while pointing his pistol.
"Bats, they're really from the military."
Bats was still hesitant at first but later on signaled all his companions to lower down their weapons.
Unit 202
Bats, Ricardo, Eric and Adam were only at this unit. He didn't want to let Adam's men to enter inside. He was still cautious.
"So, Captain. What would you like to discuss about with me?" Bats asked.
Adam replied,
"An order came from the upper up. They want me to inspect this place if you're either be trusted or not."
Bats furrowed his brows,
"What do you mean trusted or not? I would have already killed you the moment you landed and would had taken your chopper."
Adam smiled,
"Haha, you're right. But even though you had attacked us, I bet we would surely wipe you out. Not unless..."
The three were a bit shocked of what he meant just now. What do he mean they would wiped us out when three M249 light machine guns were pointed at them?
"You must be joking Captain." Ricardo expressed but then Adam replied,
"Ricardo Dalisay, codename Lone Ranger. If it was the past, you alone could kill me and my team. But, not only the mutation occured, there were also other people that have what you call superpowers. But we call it the 'Gifted'."
Ricardo and Eric laughed, the virus outbreak alone is more to think but people having superpowers? They cannot believe it.
Adam suddenly took out his pistol then aimed on his head. The three were stunned for a moment.
"Bang!!!" A gunshot came out from Adam's pistol.
A bullet fell, it was like a crumpled paper.
The three were surprised, how can a man shoot himself. This Captain is crazy. Then, they fell into a moment of silence as they cannot believe it.
"As you can see, I cannot be harmed by these bullet. I am one of those Gifted."
"Not only I have physical enhancement but I also have an x-ray vision. I already scanned the structure of your fortress before we landed. I can say you had it coming don't you?"
Bats laughed for a moment not because of his question but the one he mentioned, the 'Gifted'. In his past life, there were no such thing existed. Did the future changed? Was this a butterfly effect? He knows his future had changed but these people? Superpowers? How come? He had never heard of it in his past life nor they existed. He was thinking maybe he never had a past or was that only a dream?
"These....Gifted you mentioned. How many are you?"
Adam coughed,
"Sorry but that's a classified information. We do not spread our information, not that we don't trust you but we're just being cautious."
"What do you mean?" Bats calmly asked.
"I'll give you an information. In exchange, we would like to have food resources in the future either livestocks so we can also breed it or seeds so we can plant it. Base from what I saw, not only you had a vegetable farm but also you had a breeding farm for your livestocks."
Bats was hesitant, though food resources wasn't a problem for him but he also want an information about these people with superpowers as he doesn't know about them. He only thought that he was the only one with a superpower.
"Information isn't enough, you know. Why don't you add ammunitions too, Captain."
Adam wants to confirm first about Bats's demand to his superiors. Few minutes later, Bats was overjoyed as Adam's superior agreed to his demand. On the other hand, Adam was also overjoyed because according to their logistics, their food resources will only last for at least 6 months considering they had thousands of army plus survivors in the military camp to feed.
"Thank you. Now for the information, there are 5 levels. Level 1, people that can be considered support type users, x-ray vision, healers, etc...
Level 2, people who can transform themselves into a humanoid animal or who can enhance themselves making their bodies stronger than steel, they can kill a few dozens of zombies. Level 3, those that have dual type like me that have x-ray vision and can enhance my body.
Level 4, people that can manipulate elements, either water, fire, earth, etc..., they can kill hundreds of zombies due to their AOE attacks just like in games.
Level 5, those who can handle thousand or more zombies. As of now, we do have a level 5 in our camp. If only we can last long.... Moving on, zombies also have categories...."
Bats suddenly interrupted as he was confident about the zombies,
"Are there people who can use space?"
"Yes, we do have two in our camp. They can store anything except for living things though they can only store up to 50 cubic meter." Adam replied.
(Only 50 cubic meter? I'm also a space ability user but my space doesn't have a limit.)
"They only store things for about 50 cubic meter? Don't they have other abilities?" Bats asked.
Adam replied then began testing Bats.
"No they don't, but still they are helpful for being a porter."
Bats suddenly thought of something.
"By the way, I noticed that there's still a signal and even a free internet. Days passed after the apocalypse yet we can still use it?"
"About that, the President ordered to have a free internet access to the whole country as a last resort for communication for the survivors though the government had a problem with the server. But estimated date will last this Christmas. Many cell towers and other network towers fell down already. It's best to have radio to be ready."
"The President ordered to make it last longer before the apocalypse descended. Thanks to someone who left that note, the President also ordered every military camp to stock food and medicine supplies in advance."
Bats was a bit nervous as he coughed twice and changed the topic. It was already 1:00 am when they finished talking. Captain Adam and his team already left. Bats, Ricardo and Eric stayed as they continue on making the plan. It was already 2:30 am when their meeting ended.
All in all, sand, stones and hollowblocks were solved. Bats suddenly thought of the small manufacturing company of sand, stones and hollowblocks, just 30-40 minutes drive away from their village. This will make it a beginner's experience for his team as their municipality was more of mountains and doesn't have much people like in the city.
{fyi, there's still less infected/zombies in Bats's Municipality and there's more of his neighboring village survived due to the location. Later on zombies from the city will start roaming towards this mountains.}
As for the cements and rebars, that would be his, Ricardo and Samson's mission, wherein they'll use the chopper as it could carry a maximum of 1000 kg.
Hours later (8:00am),
Even though with only 4 hrs of sleep, Bats assembled a meeting again but with the elders, his companions, and the 3 doctors. Due to encountering Captain Adam's team last night, Bats planned to tell them about what why they were here. Few moments later, of course they were surprised hearing about those 'Gifted'.
"That's what Captain Adam told last night. I want you to be aware and be ready as some of you might be Gifted in the future."
Bats didn't told them yet that he is one of those as he already planned the day to tell them. Now that there are people with superpowers, it's a good timing for him.
Bats, Ricardo, Eric and Samson left leaving the crowd full of questions. They were outside assembling the team. Eric and 9 other people were incharge for the small manufacturing company. They used 2 elf trucks (these elf trucks were owned by the villagers used for transporting the vegetables to the city) while Bats, Ricardo and Samson used the chopper.
Exactly at 9:00am they departed. The security of the fortress was temporarily led by Christian and Bats's companions.
