Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: A New Companion, First Training

Lily woke up early in the next morning, her mind still buzzing with excitement from the previous day's events.

She had spent the night replaying the moment when Amaura had been revived, marveling at how beautiful and serene the ancient Pokémon was. It had taken to her quickly, rubbing its cool nose against her hand, a sign of trust that made her heart swell.

She could still feel the icy touch on her fingers as she sat up in bed, smiling at the thought of the day ahead.

Happiny, always the early bird, was already bouncing on the edge of the bed, her small, round, and pink body filled with energy. She looked at Lily, chirping happily, eager for the day to begin.

"Good morning, Happiny!" Lily laughed, reaching out to pat her Pokémon's head.

"Are you ready to meet Amaura again? I think you two are going to be great friends."

Happiny beamed and hopped down from the bed, her little arms waving with excitement. Lily quickly got dressed, eager to start the day.

Today would be a special one, not just because of her new companion but because she had a plan. She had already told her mother she would be heading to Route 8 for some training instead of helping at the Pokémon Center, and now, with Amaura by her side, she felt ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead.

As Lily made her way to the lab to retrieve Amaura, she thought about how lucky she was to have been rewarded by Professor Thaddeus. His passion for fossils and his willingness to share that knowledge had opened up a whole new world for her. The fossil Pokémon Amaura was more than just a new friend; it was a bridge to a time long past, a connection to the ancient world.

When Lily reached the lab, Professor Thaddeus greeted her warmly.

"Ah, Lily! Just in time. Amaura has been adjusting well since its revival. It seems to have taken quite a liking to you."

Lily smiled, her heart lifting as she spotted Amaura resting peacefully infront of the aircon. Its icy-blue skin shimmered in the morning light, and its large, gentle eyes looked up as Lily approached. Happiny bounced forward, eager to meet the new friend once more.

"Hello, Amaura!" Lily said softly, extending her hand.

Amaura nuzzled her palm with its cool snout, a soft coo escaping its throat. Happiny jumped in circles around Amaura, trying to play with the larger Pokémon. At first, Amaura seemed unsure at the joyful Happiny, but soon, it began to lower its head, letting Happiny climb up its back.

Lily laughed at the sight. "You two are going to be great friends, I can already tell."

After some time spent playing together, Lily realized it was time to begin their training. She wanted to get along with Amaura while also helping it get stronger. Route 8, with its cliffs and beaches, would be the perfect spot.

Later that morning, as Lily prepared to leave for Route 8, she told Nurse Joy, her mother, about her plans.

"I'm going to spend the day training with Amaura and Happiny," Lily said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Nurse Joy smiled warmly, though there was a hint of worry in her eyes.

"Be careful out there, Lily. Route 8 can be a bit tricky, especially near the cliffs. But I know you're a responsible trainer, and your Pokémon trust you." Lily nodded, her resolve firm.

"I'll be careful, Mom. I promise."

With her bag packed and her Poké Balls secured, Lily set off toward Route 8, the sun shining brightly overhead. The path leading there was lined with tall trees and bushes, as well as, the sound of distant waves crashing against the cliffs filled the air. As she walked, she couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment swelling within her. Today would mark the start of something new—her first real training session with Amaura and Happiny.

---

Meanwhile, deep within the shadows of Glittering Cave, a group of Pokémon hunters gathered around a rocky table. The dim light of the cave reflected off the sharp edges of their equipment, casting long shadows across the rocky walls. At the head of the table sat the tall, menacing leader, his expression hard as he looked over the maps and diagrams scattered before him.

"We've lost our chance at the Archeops flock once," he growled, his voice low and cold.

"But we won't fail again. They've stopped to rest at the cliffs near Ambrette Town. If we act now, we can corner them before they take flight again."

One of the hunters, a wiry man with a scar across his cheek, nodded.

"Officer Jenny and her team have been snooping around ever since our failed attempt. We need to move quickly, before they find us again."

The leader scowled, his sharp eyes narrowing.

"We'll avoid them. We know these caves better than they do. Set the traps and prepare the electric nets. This time, we'll capture the entire flock. And if those trainers from the town get in our way..." He let the sentence hang in the air, but the implication was clear.

The hunters exchanged glances, knowing what needed to be done. The mission was risky, but the prize was too valuable to pass up. Archeops were rare, and their strength made them valuable assets in the underground market. Failure was not an option.

---

Lily arrived at Route 8, the cliffs rising majestically above her as the sound of the ocean filled the air. The sun reflected off the water, casting a shimmering glow over the sandy beach. It was the perfect spot for a day of training.

"Alright, you two," Lily said, pulling out Amaura's and Happiny's Poké Balls.

"Let's get some fresh air."

With a flash of light, Amaura and Happiny appeared, both of them looking around with curiosity. Amaura let out a soft cry, its breath fogging slightly in the warm air, while Happiny immediately started bouncing excitedly across the sand.

Lily smiled. "Amaura, today we're going to work on your Powder Snow move. Let's see how you do!"

Amaura stepped forward, lowering its head as it focused. A cool breeze began to swirl around it, gathering strength before it released a flurry of snowflakes into the air. The icy blast shimmered in the sunlight, coating a nearby patch of grass with frost.

"That's amazing, Amaura!" Lily cheered.

"Now, let's try it a few more times!"

They spent the next few hours working on Amaura's move. Each time, the Powder Snow attack became more refined, the frost forming faster and with more precision. Lily was impressed by how quickly Amaura was learning, but she wanted to involve Happiny too.

"Happiny, let's try something new!" Lily said, kneeling down to her smaller Pokémon.

"Use Copycat and try to mimic Amaura's Powder Snow!"

Happiny looked at Lily with determination in her eyes. She took a deep breath and attempted to channel the icy energy like Amaura had. It took a few tries, but soon, a weak flurry of snowflakes appeared from Happiny's tiny mouth, surprising even her.

"You did it, Happiny!" Lily laughed.

"Keep practicing, and you'll be able to match Amaura's strength in no time!"

The three of them trained for hours, the sun moving steadily across the sky as they worked on their moves. Amaura's Powder Snow grew stronger, and Happiny's Copycat became more accurate. Finally, after a long day of hard work, Lily decided it was time for a break.

"How about we take a rest by the beach?" she suggested.

Amaura and Happiny agreed eagerly. As they spent the next hour playing in the sand, Happiny chasing the waves while Amaura watched with amusement, its large eyes reflecting the afternoon sun.

Lily couldn't help but feel a sense of peace as she watched her Pokémon playing together. They were a team now, and she knew they were ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.

As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Lily gathered her Pokémon.

"Time to head home," she said, smiling down at them.

"We've had a long day, but we've all gotten stronger."

Amaura let out a soft coo of agreement, and Happiny hopped into Lily's arms, tired but happy. Together, they made their way back, the sound of the waves fading behind them as they headed home.

I apologize for the delayed update; I've had a busy month. Burdened with a lot of homeworks and having experienced a super typhoon. That's why I haven't updated for many days. I'll try my best to update 1 or 2 more chapters tomorrow.

Once again, thank you all for your support!
