Chapter 10 - Chpater 10: Close Call

The night had been still and tense as Lily and her mother, Nurse Joy, sat in their house, waiting uneasily for news. Outside, Ambrette Town was quiet, but the air crackled with anxiety. Even Amaura, and Happiny, who had fallen asleep after their day of training, seemed restless. Lily paced back and forth, her heart racing as she thought of Officer Jenny and her team trapped in Glittering Cave.

Suddenly, the stillness was shattered by the sound of loud, panicked roars echoing through the town. Lily rushed to the window and gasped. High above, the flock of Archeops and Archen was in disarray, their wings beating frantically as they tried to escape the electrified nets thrown over them by the Pokémon hunters.

"Mom! Look!" Lily cried, pointing to the sky.

Nurse Joy was already moving, grabbing her medical bag.

"Lily, we need to go. The hunters are attacking, and the officers will need our help. Chansey go grab the medical supplies and be ready to heal any injured Pokémon."

"Chan, Chansey!" Replied, as the round pokemon ran to cabinet to get the medical supplies.

They rushed out of the house and into the streets of Ambrette Town. The sight that greeted them was pure chaos.

Officers and their Pokémon were engaged in fierce battles with the hunters, who were determined to stop anyone from helping the flock. The trapped Archeops and Archen struggled against the nets, some managing to break free, only to be stunned by the hunters' Pokémon.

A group of hunters worked together, using electric-type Pokémon like Manectric and Heliolisk to weaken the flock further, capturing the dazed Archeops and Archen in Poké Balls and shoving them into bags.

The townspeople, too, had released their Pokémon, trying desperately to help the officers. But the hunters were well-prepared, using brutal tactics to hold off the citizens.

Lily saw a woman's Floette go down, knocked out by a powerful Thunder Fang from a hunter's Luxray. The woman rushed forward, crying out for her Pokémon.

"Lily, start healing the injured!" Nurse Joy commanded, already kneeling beside an officer's fainted Machoke.

Her Chansey was by her side, hands holding a glowing egg using the move Soft-Boiled.

Lily nodded, and rushed toward the scene. She set down her bag and called out to her Pokémon.

"Amaura, Happiny let's help them!" she ordered, her voice firm.

Amaura let out a soft cry of determination, and Happiny bounced forward, eager to assist. Lily quickly handed out healing potions to some of the townspeople, directing them to use them on their Pokémon.

As she worked, she kept an eye on the hunters, who were making steady progress toward capturing more of the flock.

Suddenly, an idea sparked in her mind. She turned to Amaura.

"Amaura, use Powder Snow on the hunters! We can slow them down, you too Happiny use Copycat on Amaura! "

Amaura and Happiny stepped forward, their breaths fogging in the cool night air. With a flick of Amaura's head and Happiny gathering power, both unleashed a flurry of icy snow, sending it swirling toward the hunters who were standing near the cliffs.

The snow hit them from behind, catching them off guard. One of the hunters slipped on the newly frozen ground, dropping a Poké Ball that rolled out of reach. The flock, sensing a moment of weakness, started to struggle harder against the nets.

"Great job, Amaura! Keep it up!" Lily cheered, moving quickly to another exhausted Pokémon, her hands moving skillfully as she applied a healing potion to a wounded Ninetales.

For a moment, it seemed like they might turn the tide. But then, one of the hunters saw what Lily was doing. His eyes narrowed, and he pointed directly at her, barking an order to his Heliolisk.

"Parabolic Charge, now!"

A yellow flash of electricity surged towad Lily, crackling through the air with frightening speed. She froze, eyes wide in panic. The attack was coming too fast. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the hit.

But it never came.

A loud roar echoed through the chaos, and when Lily opened her eyes, she saw a massive, dinosaur-like figure standing in front of her. The Pokémon had a large sail on its neck that glowed like aurora borealis. It had blocked the attack, and now it turned its head slightly, its eyes glinting with cold fury.

"Aurorus," a voice commanded from behind Lily,

"Use Ice Beam!"

A beam of freezing energy shot from Aurorus's mouth, striking the Heliolisk head-on. The electric Pokémon was frozen in place, encased in a block of solid ice. The hunter cursed and called it back into its Poké Ball.

Lily turned in astonishment to see a tall man walking toward her, his calm demeanor contrasting with the chaos around them. He extended a hand to help her up.

"Are you alright?" he asked, his voice steady.

Lily nodded, still in shock. "Y-Yes. Thank you."

Her mother, Nurse Joy, rushed over, her face pale with worry. "Lily! Are you hurt?"

"I'm okay, Mom. Thanks to him," Lily said, glancing at the man who had saved her.

Nurse Joy smiled in relief and turned to the man. "Thank you, Grant."

Grant, the Gym Leader of Cyllage City, smiled warmly.

"Just doing my part. Aurorus and I couldn't stand by while these hunters wreak havoc." He glanced at the towering Aurorus beside him.

"And I see your Amaura is on its way to becoming just as strong." Lily's eyes widened as she looked at Aurorus.

"Amaura will evolve into that someday?" she whispered, awe in her voice.

Grant nodded. "If you train it well, yes. One day, Amaura will become a powerful Aurorus."

Amaura looked up at Aurorus, its eyes filled with admiration, and Lily smiled.

"We'll get there together," she whispered to her Pokémon.

But there was no time to relax. Nurse Joy turned to Grant. "The flock is in danger, and the hunters are still out there. We need to free the trapped Archeops and Archen and get Officer Jenny's team out of Glittering Cave."

Grant nodded. "I'll help with the flock. And I'll send some of the officers to rescue Officer Jenny's team."

---

Meanwhile, deep inside Glittering Cave, Officer Jenny and her team were still trapped, surrounded by the electrified net. Arcanine paced anxiously beside her, its fur bristling.

"We need to get out of here," Jenny muttered, scanning the area for a way to break the net.

Suddenly, she spotted a weak point where the net was fraying near the cave wall.

"Arcanine, use Flamethrower!" Jenny commanded.

With a flash of red burning light, Arcanine fire a jet of flame toward the weakened section of the net, tearing through it in a flash. The electric sparks fizzled, and the net collapsed, freeing the team.

"Great work!" Jenny said, relief flooding her voice.

But they weren't out of danger yet. A massive boulder blocked the entrance to the cave, placed there by the hunters. Jenny didn't hesitate.

"Arcanine, break that boulder with Extreme Speed!"

Arcanine charged, smashing into the boulder with full force. The rock cracked and crumbled, clearing the way out. Jenny and her team rushed out of the cave, running into the officers from Cyllage City who had come to rescue them.

"We're heading to Ambrette Town!" Jenny shouted as they joined forces.

"The hunters are there, and we need to stop them now!"

Together, the two teams raced toward Ambrette Town, ready to end the battle once and for all.

---

Back in Ambrette Town, with the arrival of the Cyllage City police officers and Grant, the tide of the battle was turning. The hunters, realizing they were outnumbered, began to retreat, but not before a final, desperate attack.

As they fled, Lily's eyes scanned the battlefield. The chaos had subsided, but the town was still on edge. She took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the day's events. They had won the battle, but she knew this wouldn't be the last time they'd face such a scene.
