I continued defending myself from it's continued attacks which is making it angrier by the second. I just hope it will give me an opening to kill it soon.
It continuously attacked me with it's claws and teeth without any intention of slowing down. I used my Red Blade to defend and occasionally tried to counter attack which was blocked by the Steel Teeth Rat.
It suddenly jumped towards my chest which gave me the opening I was looking for and used it without any delay.
SLUCH.. CLANG.. THUD
I dodged it's attack by taking a side step and brought my sword down slicing it's neck. It was stopped by the steel skeleton of the rat halfway, but the damage was done and it died before it fell near my feet.
I looked around to see people still fighting and many rats are coming out of the hole which is not expected by any of us.
I sense two more Steel Teeth Rats coming towards me. I gripped Red Blade with two hands ready to dodge and defend.
These two rats attack me at the same time, one aiming for my thigh while the other aiming for my neck which I dodged with no option to defend their such coordinated attack.
They again attack me, this time going for my thighs at the same time. I take a side step to my left to dodge one while swing my sword vertically top to bottom at the other rat to defend.
"Argh" I was able to defend one attack while the other rat used it's claws at the last second injuring my right thigh.
I bite my lips to control my scream as it will make me look weak as most of the volunteers fighting have already injured and only a hand full has screamed till now.
I wish I could use Air Strike to kill one and fight another with ease, but I don't want to use my best attack this early in a battle that is huge.
"Shit, How can I be so stupid?" I cursed myself as I just remembered one more skill called Infusion I have read when I learned my first skill Air Armor.
I focused my element energy to my palms. I felt the energy from my body getting concentrated in my palms and my Red Blade started to glow a little and has become more sharper.
It is difficult already for me to focus on my surroundings while I fight. Now I will also have to keep my energy flow to my palms continuously to help me in the battle.
This is the first time I am trying to use this after I have read about it, so it is going to be very troublesome for me. I have never thought I will be practicing a skill while in a battle this big.
I feel a little dizzy, but I controlled myself from falling down but to continue dodging the attacks of the two angry rats.
"Oof" I got another injury on the same thigh while I was focusing on the skill Infusion, but it didn't disrupt my focus. After the Red Blade started glowing, I swing it towards a Rat that has jumped aiming my neck.
SLICE.. THUD
To my shock, the cut was clean and the head was separated with only a little resistance from it's steel skeleton which was nullified with extra force.
I would have bought a different skill instead of the Air Strike if I had known this attack has such power. Now I have two attack and one defense skills in my arsenal with no skills for speed or strength.
PUCHI
I pierced the head of the other rat with ease as it got angry looking at its kin die by my sword and came at me with blind rage and all I did was keep my sword at its path. It died without knowing how.
I took a healing potion from my watch storage and poured few drops on my thigh and drink the rest.
I looked around to see the fight is still at full intense, more rats are pouring out of the hole by the minute. Dawn is fighting 3 rats at the same time and has not received a single injury till now.
I activated Air Armor to enhance my senses and looked at the Steel Teeth Rat's nest. I could sense rats are gathering at the entrance and by the hole.
By the look of it, I think they are getting ready to do a pincer style attack, attacking us from two sides at the same time which will be overwhelming for us.
The higher management of the Hammerand has badly predicted the strength of this nest. We have already dealt with 50 rats, but still I could sense about 300 more rats ready to come out of the nest to attack us.
I looked for Max and found him monitoring the battle standing a few meters away from me. I went to him without any hesitation to tell him what I have just sensed.
"What is it Alex?" He asks looking at me coming to him.
"We are going to need back-up Max. We are about to get attacked in pincer style from the hole and the entrance." I replied.
"How many?" He asks as he has come to know about my sensing ability.
"About 300 and some of them are as powerful as you are." I tell him looking at the entrance.
He just nodded trying to hide his surprise and concern, kept monitoring the battle to assist anyone who needs help.
When the battle that's been going on for 30 minutes came to an end, he Max shouted "Everyone, use your healing and stamina potions immediately, we are about to get a much larger incoming by any minute."
After giving a minute time he took his flare gun and shot a red flare towards the sky. I know the flares which we received from the Hunter's Guild is white and not sure what the red flare indicates or is it special for the Hammerand.
