The evening unfolded effortlessly with this intriguing man. He served me his special drink, and at last, I understood the buzz surrounding it. It was affordable yet potent—an aftertaste of orange mingled with a satisfying burn in my chest. Truly refreshing.
We settled into a comfortable silence, observing the lively crowd. A fight had erupted earlier, prompting me to switch seats, but honestly, that turned out to be a blessing—more privacy and fewer prying eyes.
"So, do you have a girl or something?" I inquired, taking a sip of my drink while he stared ahead, lost in thought.
I shot him a sideways glance before finishing my glass. "I used to, but not anymore," he replied unexpectedly.
"And what happened? You cheated on—"
"What makes you think I was the one at fault?!" he snapped, casting a hard glare my way.
"Hey, just asking. No hard feelings," I replied, raising my hands in surrender.
