2000 Hours
[Andre's POV]
Navigating through the abandoned streets in the downtown. Andre, in his SynthMech suit, moved cautiously. He was at an unfamiliar territory and the enemy may ambush him any time.
Looking at the panel screen in front of him, he was looking at the energy reserves. He only has four hours' worth of energy. Conserving energy is a priority and wasteful movements is out of the question.
"I am a few kilometers away…" Andre thought as he was looking at the GPTS (Global Positioning and Tracking System) to his target location.
Andre knew he had to hasten his pace. He was still at least twenty minutes to where Dorothy Dawn and the others were located.
Suddenly, the sensors detected a weapons lock and sounded.
"I am being targeted!?" Andre, shocked, made evasive actions and hid through the abandoned buildings.
The sound of the sensors warning him faded and Andre felt relief. He was catching his breath as he calmed himself down. The space inside the SynthMech was suffocating, making Andre claustrophobic.
Andre used a drone that was attached on the shoulder of his SynthMech and used it to scout at his surroundings. After scouting for a while, he saw one enemy SynthMech carrying a rocket launcher on its shoulder. It had a high caliber weapon on its left hand as well.
"Enemy SynthMech pilot, there's no use hiding!" The enemy SynthMech pilot operated his loudspeakers, said.
"This may be a trap!" Andre thought and continued to scout further.
"We know where you are hiding. There's no escape for you!" The enemy pilot said.
Andre checked his weapons. He had an array of anti-SynthMech weapons and some powerful ones as well. On the panel, he had a shock baton at his right arm. It was a close quarters weapon, capable of delivering a shock equivalent to 50,000 Volts.
The shock has the potential to disable an enemy unit if it hits its vital parts. Repeated shock attacks could harm the enemy and its pilot.
Other weapons include a rocket launcher with four missiles and a mine launcher. These weapons were also powerful enough to deal damage to any enemy Andre would face.
"This would come in handy!" Andre said, looking at the panel.
He decided to lay some mines in the surrounding area. His plan was to lure the enemy and disable him in a swift and decisive attack.
Despite learning of the basics, Andre knew he had no experience in fighting with his SynthMech unit. He had to improvise if he were to win the fight.
After laying his mines and traps, Andre navigated his way to a different path. Ensuring of his safe passage from any enemy he might face. If it were infantry or other lesser enemies other than Mechs of SynthMechs, he would just swat them like flies.
The detour would take Andre thirty minutes more before he could reach Dorothy Dawn's team. He had to act fast, knowing that the enemy was after him.
Andre took the alternate route he devised and carefully navigated it. He continued until the mines he had laid earlier exploded. The enemy must have triggered it when they pursued him.
"That will cause them problems. However, I am quite certain that they would catch up. Until then, I need to keep up my pace!" Andre thought, looking at the screen.
The feed from his drone had shown movements from the northeast. Using infrared and nightvision, he saw it was infantry and some IFVs. They were intending to cut him off.
However, they were too late to seal Andre's path, as he had crossed it before they arrived. Explosions continued from the northwest of his location.
"Persistent, are we?" Andre commented, and he used his drone to scout further.
Andre decided to delay the enemies by using his rocket launcher. One missile carried cluster munitions. It may be smaller, but had explosives powerful enough to tear through light armor and infantry.
"This will be perfect!" Andre said and aimed his missile to the northwest of his position. He grinned after he had a lock using the aid of his drone and said, "This is nothing personal. I hope this won't ruin your day!"
Andre launched the missile from the launcher of his SynthMech unit's right shoulder. As the rocket raced to the sky, it homed itself to the enemy formation that was heading closer to Andre.
Explosions followed soon after, tearing through anything in the area. Most of the enemy in the front of the formation was annihilated by the blast of the cluster munitions Andre used.
Andre celebrated the minor victory with a smile. He piloted his SynthMech unit to the designated coordinates. This time, he did not bother to be careful and just rushed to his mission. He had to make up for the time he lost earlier.
As Andre continued on his way. A projectile that stopped him in his tracks that suddenly hit his Synthmech Unit. It was a powerful round that sent shockwaves inside the cockpit of the unit. Andre felt the concussive force that disoriented him.
"What? Who did that!?" Andre asked himself.
As he looked at the panel, he noticed that the feed from his drone had been disconnected. "I think someone shot down my drone!" Andre thought.
"There you are, my little puppy!" The enemy SynthMech pilot said and then a huge humanoid figure appeared in front of him.
Its skin was jet black and had metal fittings and armor protecting the chest area. Andre, looking from his screen, noticed it was an enemy SynthMech. He didn't know what model it was because it looked different and sophisticated.
"Running time is over. It's time to get serious with you!" The enemy SynthMech pilot said.
