Chapter 1 - Body trade

Time of the incident: August 2017

Case Summary: The body was sent from the scene of the car accident, raising numerous doubts. An autopsy revealed that the body inside the vehicle was not the owner, and the deceased had died before the vehicle caught fire. The identity and origin of the body remain unknown.

Who will the deceased be?

Autopsy analysis: Uterus observed in the pelvic cavity, female.

The body is completely carbonized, the skull is shattered, the trachea and intestines are exposed at the neck, and the limbs are severed. The degree of burning is unusual.

The internal organs in the abdominal cavity are severely decomposed, and the body has already begun to decompose before being cremated.

At the conference to formulate the capture plan, a room full of detective brothers surrounded my senior, the short detective Mas Wang, in the center.

The captain looked at this group of usually bold guys, who were now all acting timid. With no choice, he called out Mas Wang's name, asking him to definitely participate in this capture operation.

In theory, detectives only deal with the "motionless" on the autopsy table and do not participate in capture operations. However, this time, the detectives were very resolute: if the detective wasn't brought along, they wouldn't go.

The captain said to Wang Mas, "With you accompanying us to the front, the others will feel a bit more at ease."

After more than 20 years as a detective, Wang Mas has seen countless corpses and is well-informed. For the first time, he feels like "Zhong Kui," being taken to the scene of a capture to "exorcise evil."

Everyone present has been to crime scenes, no matter how brutal, but when it comes to the place where this arrest is to take place, everyone feels a sense of dread deep down.

And all of this must start with the strange corpse that Detective Mas Wang took over.

That day, King Mas changed into a new pair of gloves and turned his gaze to the last body bag on the gurney in the dissection room. It had been lying in the freezer for three days. Inside was a body handed over by the traffic police, and since there had been no family members to sign, the procedures for the mandatory autopsy were only completed today.

Maw Wang opened the body bag, and the corpse was completely carbonized, resembling a curled-up black shrimp, with a shattered skull, exposed intestines, severed limbs, and charred bone stubs visible.

Three days ago, a body was found in a burning BMW car.

At the first glance of the corpse, King Mas felt puzzled: the hair on the corpse had been completely burned off, the trachea in the neck was exposed, and the body looked charred all over; through the burned chest, one could even see the blackened lungs. Can a car fire burn a body like this?

Most of the bodies handed over by the traffic police are those that died from injuries sustained in traffic accidents. Burning is just a subsequent damage; it is really rare to see bodies burned like this in a car accident.

With a slight movement, the ashes of the clothing on the surface of the corpse fell down. He turned the body over and found no intact, unburned skin. With the naked eye, it was impossible to tell if there were any signs of bleeding, scabbing, or other "life responses," making it difficult to distinguish

This type of "fire scene corpse" tests the meticulousness of detective work and the sensitivity to clues. Not only can a large fire destroy the body, but the large amounts of dry powder foam and water used in the later firefighting can also damage the clues on the body.

The charred corpse was no longer recognizable, but King Mars insisted on "asking" it about its identity and cause of death while it was alive.

The black ashes stuck to King Mas's gloves. He changed to a new pair and picked up the scalpel. The ribs were cut open, and a strange burnt smell mixed with a foul odor suddenly surged out.

Foul smell? The smell of decay.

The charred corpse should typically emit a burnt "meaty aroma" during the autopsy, but this body has been stored in the freezer since it was brought in, so how could there be a foul smell of decay?

Masi Wang was feeling uncertain, and he quickened his pace as the scalpel reached the abdomen.

He found a uterus in the pelvis; it was a female corpse. This did not relieve him, as he soon discovered that the organs in the abdominal cavity that had not been burned were indeed in varying degrees of decay.

After the traffic accident, the body was immediately sent to the funeral home. Even after several hours of thawing, the degree of decay of the internal organs would never be this severe.

There is only one possibility: this is not a traffic accident; the body had already begun to decompose before being charred by the fire.

Maswang took off his gloves and called the captain.

From now on, this is no longer within the scope of responsibility of the traffic police.
