Chapter 3 - The party

Ethan

"Stop the car" I requested and the car came to a halt.

"Ken, I want you to follow those two women and eavesdrop on their conversations. They are trying to get into that dress shop, do you see them?" I asked him while pointing to two women, the one putting on a green dress was my one-night stand.

"Yes sir" he responded

"But why?" He asked me

"Just do as you are told, do you want to get fired?" I asked him

"Is this part of job description?" Ken mumbled but I heard.

"Did you say something?" I asked him

"Nothing sir" he responded.

"Now off you go" I said while I waited in the car.

He returned after 15 minutes.

"Why did you take so long?" I was getting impatient.

"I'm sorry sir" he apologised

"What did you find?" I asked him

"Laureen is the one in green and Mimi is the other" he told me

"They were looking for party gowns, seems you all attended the same school" he said

"How so?" I thought

"They mentioned your school and talked about the 60th- anniversary party" Ken reported

"I see…" I said only.

"Can we leave now, Grandma Gina is waiting" Ken asked me

"Grandma can wait. We'll wait here till the ladies finish shopping, I want to know where she leaves" I told Ken

"Sir, who is this lady?" he asked me

"It's none of your business" I fired

I waited for about two hours until they finished shopping before quietly towing behind them. Why did women always take a long time to find just one dress?

Laureen

"I think this is better" I told Aunt Mimi.

We were in a dress shop, looking for outfits for tonight's party.

"No. I need something that will concentrate all attention on me. I want everyone to know I'm in the room, they should look at me three times in a row" she demonstrated swaying her hips left and right.

"You are such a drama queen" I told her

"No denial" she said

"So let's continue looking. I'll know it's the one when I see it" she told me

"Your dress is too simple" she told me

"I love it" I told her. I chose a simple black gown that reached my ankles. The back was all open and it was short-sleeved. The dress had a slit in the front, from my thighs to my ankle.

"Well, happy you. I haven't seen what I want, I'll buy three gowns just in case I change my mind when I try them on at home.

"Look at this" she called my attention.

"It's transparent" I told her

"I love it" I she told me

"But…" I wanted to say but she stopped me.

"I didn't ask you to change your dress when you said you loved it" she told me

"Fine" I said in defeat.

In the end, we left the shop with about 8 shopping backs. Five of the shopping belonged to Aunt Miranda.

It surprised me that we were greeted by Luca when we got home. I pulled my aunt to the side.

"This is new" I whispered

"What's that?" she whispered back

"Luca. What's up with you guys? He was here for dinner last night and breakfast before we left for shopping. I thought he must left, but he's still here" I told her.

"I don't know either but he's still here" she smiled

"You liar" I said

"It's good to have a man in the house, they come in handy. He helped us with the shopping bags just now" she laughed

"Keep it down. He might hear us" I said

"Let's go get ready" Aunt Miranda said

"Exactly my point. We start early so that we save time in case of any unforeseen circumstances" she said

We both went into our separate rooms to get ready.

I took a bath and started to get ready. I had to fix my hair and do light make-up as I didn't like heavy make-up.

There was a knock on my door when I sat down to fix my hair.

"There's a man looking for you at the door" Aunt Miranda told me

"What man? don't tell me Louis had the nerve to come here" I asked furiously

"Do you think I'll let that guy step foot in my house?" she asked me

"So who is at the door then?" I asked her

"I should be the one asking, he came here for you. He is so handsome Laureen, he looks like a demigod" she said

I moved past her to see who came looking for me. I was shocked when I saw my one-night stand standing in the center of the living room, looking at me.

I knew he was a good-looking man when I stole a glance at him yesterday morning before I left the hotel but he was looking hotter this morning.

His suit looked so elegant on him

"God must have made you on a Monday" I mumbled to myself

"Stop staring" he simply said with a grumpy face, jolting me back to earth.

"You are the guy from last night" I said

"Yes" he responded

"Why are you here?" I asked him calmly

"You owe me" he said again. He seems like someone who didn't talk a lot.

"What do you mean?" I asked

"Why did you snuck out of bed yesterday?" he asked me again

"Did you expect me to stay? What are we?" we kept asking each other questions

"You owe me" he said again but I wasn't getting any hint he was giving.

"I told you my body wasn't for free" he said

"Omg, you went to bed with a sex worker" Aunt Mimi voiced out.

"Not now, Miranda" I waved at her from a distance

"So you came here for the payment. How did you know where I live? Are you stalking me?" I asked him

"Quit asking me questions" he ordered

Who was this man?

"Fine. I said I'll pay you today, how much do I owe you then?" I asked him

"Five million dollars" he said

My ears burnt when I heard the amount he called.

"Why? Is your body made up of gold?" Aunt Mimi asked in a scream

"You can't possibly be serious" I said

"What is wrong with you? I can't give you five million for a one-night stand" I said

"You should have thought about that before begging me to sleep with you and promising to pay me the next day" he said without caring.

"Stop saying that" I scolded him

"But it's the truth" he said

"Who cares" I said in anger

"I'll be back. Hope you have the money when next I visit" He said before heading out.

I didn't know what to say anymore.

"What just happened?" Aunt Mimi asked me

"I have no idea" I answered honestly

"He is so handsome though" she said causing me to roll my eyes

"Did anyone else notice he's older or it's just me?" Luc asked

"Yes. You said what I was thinking" Aunt Mimi said

"What?" I asked

"He has good genes. He looks young but he's definitely older, like 45" she said

"I'll give him 46" Luc said

"What's the difference?" I asked

"One" Luc said with a smile

I groaned.

"What happened at the bar last night?" Aunt Mimi asked me

"I may have asked him to go to bed with me. He asked for money but I said I didn't have any on me at that moment so I promised to pay him the next day. In my defense I was drunk" I explained

"Ok?" she said in a questioning manner

"He was still asleep when I left the hotel room in the morning" I said

"Let's hope he doesn't come back, he looks like trouble" Aunt Mimi said
