I was in my office doing some work when Ken informed me that my girlfriend was downstairs and she wanted to see me.
"Huh?" I asked Ken with a doubtful expression. How did I have a girlfriend without my knowledge?
"It's Laureen Sir" he said
"What is she doing here? What does she want now?" I asked but I knew Ken wouldn't know either.
"The receptionist said she insists on seeing you. Should I go get her?" he asked me
"It's alright, I'll do that myself" I told him before heading to the elevator. As soon as the doors of the elevator opened, I saw Louis, my nephew holding Laureen in a manner that I didn't like. He had some nerve to touch her after treating the poor girl the way he did.
I had asked my private investigator to carry out a background check on Laureen after the incident at the party because I couldn't get her out of my head.
She and Louis used to date for about six years until he ended things with her and got together with some Patricia girl, a friend of Laureen. I don't what he saw in Patricia, she wasn't finer than Laureen. Stupid guy!
"Are you alright honey?" I asked her before she practically dived into my arms. Louis must have really been stressing her.
"I'm alright" she said placing a hand on my chest.
"I wasn't doing anything wrong" Louis let out when I didn't even ask him anything
"You already delivered the document, you should have left a long time ago" I told him
"I'll be leaving" he declared
"How long have you known her?" he asked me instead of leaving as he said
"Do you like her?" I asked her
"No, I don't" he said and made his way to the exit without giving me a chance to speak further.
I took in her full glamour. Why was this Laureen of a girl so cute? Her eyes sparkled and her glossy lips were even more noticeable. Blue was certainly her color, she looked so clean in that flowery blue sundress and what was that fragrance? She was stirring up something strange in me that I hadn't felt before in a long time. Why was she carrying a big bag?
"What's with the bag? It's bigger than you" I said in a flat tone but she flashed me a cute smile that melted my insides and said the most surprising thing ever.
"I brought you lunch" she said and almost shoved the bag into my face.
"Lunch? For me?" I asked her but she just smiled again in reply
"Yes" she responded
"You cooked food for me?" I asked her again. I wanted to be sure that I heard it well the first time she said it.
"Yes. You can just take the bag so I can take my leave" she said
"Why?" I asked her
I couldn't remember the last time someone brought me food let alone cooked for me, I was struggling to control my excitement as I saw the lady at the reception and a few employees looking our way. Gossips!
Thumbs up, Laureen. She made me declare publicly that she was my woman, not once but twice as of today.
"Why?, i can take it back if you don't want it" she pouted.
"Come up" I held her hand and dragged her with me to my office before she could decline.
"Hey…. You are pulling too hard" she said
I pressed her against the wall as soon as we got into the elevator, I raised her hands above her head and pinned them on the wall, letting the bag she was holding drop to the floor.
"The food.." she tried to say something but I wasn't paying attention.
We were so close, our lips almost touching each other. Her eyes were so beautiful and held purity and sincerity, I could tell from her eyes she was a good person.
"What do you want?" I asked her
"What is wrong with you Sir Ethan?" she asked me with innocence.
"You want something. Is it money? You want to sleep with me again?" I asked her
"No, none of that" she replied
"I was your boyfriend only for that night. Why do you come here telling people that you are my girlfriend? Do you know the consequences of what you have just done?" I asked her
"I didn't mean to take advantage of your kindness " she said
"But you did" I said
"I mean it. I brought food to thank you for the night at the party. Louis was there, I just had to use your name again" she confessed
"You are hurting me sir Ethan" she said
I let go. I didn't know I was pressing too hard or maybe she was just too fragile.
"Ethan" I said
"Call me Ethan" I said again
"Okay" she replied
The elevator doors opened and I led Laureen into my office. You had to pass through Ken's space first before getting into mine.
"Miss Laureen" Ken acknowledged her when she got in
"Hi, Ken" she greeted in return.
"I'm glad you guys didn't leave for lunch yet. I brought lunch for your boss, there's a bowl for you as well as some desserts" she beamed while taking out the bowl and placing it on Ken's table.
"Thank you. That was so thoughtful" he complimented her.
I never saw a lady who looked so happy to serve others.
What was her hidden motive?
"Ethan, come over here" she gestured to me to come over to the couch section and I obliged like a child taking instructions from his mom.
"Here, this is yours. There's orange juice and desserts too" she said
She prepared a lot.
"You are not eating?" I asked her
"Nope. I'll go back home and eat" she said
"You didn't eat yet? Why?"
"I wanted to get here on time before you left for lunch break" she responded
So she didn't eat after cooking, she only cared to rush here and bring me food.
"Sit" I told her
"Let's eat together" I ordered
"I'd rather not" she said
Stubborn girl!
"If you don't join me, I won't eat" I told her
"That's not fair" she pouted
"I won't eat" I insisted
"Okay fine" she sighed in defeat then sat next to me.
The food was delicious, she was a great cook.
I didn't know when I stopped eating and began staring at Laureen.
She ate silently but there was food at the corner of her mouth.
"Head up" I told her causing her to lookup at me.
I brushed my fingers gently by the side of her mouth, our eyes were locked into each other's. God knows I was going to kiss her because I kept leaning in but she didn't back down.
"What's the matter?" She suddenly pulled away and asked me.
"You can't even eat properly" I told her but her eyes showed that she didn't believe me
"See?" I succeeded to wipe the corner of her mouth
"You could have just told me" she replied before grabbing a napkin to wipe the corners of her mouth.
"You and Louis?" I asked her.
I wanted her to talk about it that night in my car but she didn't want to.
She sighs heavily.
"Why do you need to prove to him that you now have a boyfriend so bad?" I asked her
"He was my boyfriend, we were even engaged. He ended things between us in the most humiliating manner ever" she said
"That night at the party, I was attacked by his new lover. They told everyone that I was the one who cheated on him so he broke up with me. Can you imangine?" She asked me
"I can't" I replied
She was recounting a story I already knew about but I let her narrate it anyway.
"Those girls said no man would ever want me. I was just going to ignore them but I felt the need to rub some mess in their faces, that was when I saw you. I didn't know it was you until you turned and looked at me" she said
"Are you sure you didn't know it was me?" I teased her
"I promise, I didn't know who it was" she said sounding very serious
"Are you aware I'm years older than you?" I asked her
She swallowed hard.
"I've heard the rumours" she said. I found her amusing and fought the urge to not laugh.
"Be careful when playing the games you playing with me" I warned her
"You coming here with food. I easily get aroused you know and you are fucking adorable, so watch it. Don't repeat this again" I said so casually.
"So you find me attractive then" she said more like it was a question.
"Yes, but you're too young. I wouldn't want to have anything to do with you" I told her but I doubted my own words.
"You already did and I'm not that young" she smiled
My little brother jumped in excitement in my trousers.
"Pack up your things, my driver will send you home" I told her
"There's no need for that, I brought my car" she told me.
"Desserts. Make sure you taste them, they are delicious" She smiled before getting up, packing her things, and then heading out.
