Chapter 1 - Tomi The survivor

Date

[06/11/ 50052:]

[In A-1 laboratory located in Laxative moon.]

"DON'T LET HIM ESCAPE!"

The cold, deep voice echoed through the chaotic corridors, cutting through the metallic clamor of battle.

The air was thick with the sounds of the F2 Mecha pilots—known as the Fighting Force—engaged in a desperate struggle against the invading dark mechas on a rescue mission.

Their massive forms clashed outside, casting eerie shadows that flickered across the dimly lit interior of the facility.

Tomi bolted through the darkness, the only light coming from the faint glow of computer screens and the thin, pulsing wires snaking from the massive tubs where other test subjects floated in a twisted mockery of life.

The sterile scent of antiseptic mixed with the acrid tang of burning metal, stinging his nostrils as he ran.

"I can't die here," Tomi thought, his breath coming in ragged gasps, each inhale searing his lungs.

His head throbbed violently, a sensation like electric sparks firing in his brain, making his vision blur with each painful pulse.

He staggered but kept moving, driven by pure instinct as his muscles burned and his heart pounded against his ribs.

"I don't want to die yet," the thought hammered in his mind, over and over, as if sheer repetition could keep death at bay.

His eyes burned, vision swimming with tears he couldn't stop. Behind him, the sound of pounding boots grew louder, voices barking orders—hunters closing in on their prey.

Suddenly, Tomi skidded to a halt. His blood ran cold as he looked up, eyes widening in sheer terror.

Above him, the massive foot of a dark mecha hovered ominously, its blackened metal gleaming in the sparse light. The building around him groaned and cracked, on the verge of collapse.

"Dead!" The word screamed through his mind as his body froze, paralyzed by the overwhelming fear gripping his soul.

Just as Tomi's world seemed about to end beneath the crushing weight of the dark mecha's foot, a sudden force yanked him off the ground.

He barely registered the cold, metallic fingers of a mecha hand closing around him before the sickening crunch of the mecha's foot slammed into the floor where he had just been standing.

The laboratory around him crumbled in an instant, the walls collapsing inward with a deafening roar.

"Hey, kid, what are you doing?" a sharp female voice crackled through the speakers of the mecha.

Tomi's body, now cradled in the protective grip of the mecha's hand, went limp.

The overwhelming noise and sheer exhaustion finally overtook him, dragging him into unconsciousness as the world blurred and darkened around him.

Inside the cockpit, Layla gritted her teeth as she maneuvered the mecha with precision, navigating through the crumbling laboratory.

The massive structure was falling apart around her, beams and debris crashing down as she sprinted down the long, wide halls, her mecha's footsteps reverberating through the chaos.

"Leader, I've found one survivor," Layla reported, her voice steady as she glanced at the data scrolling across the HUD in front of her.

The screen displayed her leader's name and status, the connection pulsing with each word.

["Tracking. But what's the status of your situation?"]

Mike's voice came through clearly, the words also appearing on the transparent visor inside Layla's helmet.

"Smoothly navigating my way out, sir," Layla replied, her voice laced with calm determination as she steered her mecha toward the last exit before it sealed shut.

["Alright, make sure the survivor is safe."] Mike's voice echoed in her helmet, his command clear and firm.

"Roger that!" she responded with a smirk, adrenaline coursing through her veins.

Her eyes flicked to the countdown ticking away on her visor's clear display, every second pushing her closer to the edge of collapse.

[7, 6, 5,] The system counted down, each digit flashing in sync with the tremors rattling the facility.

"Activating B2,"

Layla commanded, her gaze locked ahead as she weaved through the falling debris, her mecha's movements fluid and precise.

The seconds bled away, leaving her just three left as she dodged the collapsing structure around her.

[B2 activated,] the system confirmed, a mechanical hum resonating through her cockpit.

In an instant, her mecha surged forward, breaking free from the crumbling laboratory just as the structure gave way.

She shot out of the massive building, the last remnants of the lab collapsing with a sickening thud behind her. Layla's mecha skidded to a halt outside, its back turned to the ruins, dust, and debris billowing in the wake of the catastrophic collapse.

Layla's gaze flicked to her crew members battling the colossal dark mecha, its shadow looming ominously over the landscape.

"Looks like it's heading to headquarters," a male voice crackled over the comms.

It was one of Layla's teammates, circling the massive mecha in his flying unit, the hum of engines barely audible over the chaos below.

"Interesting," Layla mused, recognizing the voice of her senior, Kai Benz. There was a hint of challenge in his tone that sparked her competitive edge.

Her focus sharpened as she spotted a pair of dark mechas—a Fox-1 and a Lion-1—approaching her position. Their sleek, predatory forms cut through the dust and debris, heading straight for her.

[Dark Mecha: Fox-1 and Lion-1 detected.]

[Threat level: Low,]

her system chirped in its monotone, calmly assessing the situation.

"This should be fun," Layla thought, a thrill of excitement coursing through her as she eyed the cores displayed on her screen.

The system highlighted the precise locations of the energy cores, glowing markers overlaid on the mechas' frames. She was already planning how she'd extract them when suddenly, a new alert flashed across her visor.

Layla's smirk faded as the helmet's screen switched to a readout of Tomi's vital signs. His temperature spiked dangerously high, a red warning indicator flashing insistently.

"This is bad," she thought, her excitement replaced by a gnawing concern.

Tomi was running an unusually high fever, his body in a state of distress.

"Layla, what are you doing?" A sharp voice broke through Layla's concentration, snapping her back to the moment.

"Tijona?" Layla replied, her eyes widening as she saw Tijona's pink and white mecha swoop in front of her, its sleek form a stark contrast to the dark, hulking figures surrounding them.

Tijona's mecha moved with lethal grace, grabbing one of the Fox-1 dark mechas and hurling it with tremendous force. The enemy mecha crashed into the leg of the massive dark behemoth, shattering upon impact with an explosion that sent fragments flying.

"This survivor is running an unusual fever," Layla said, her voice tinged with worry as she glanced down at the readouts on her screen.

Despite the chaos, she couldn't help but feel a flicker of admiration for Tijona's fluid, aggressive fighting style. It was like watching a master at work.

Tijona's voice came back, calm and authoritative. "Alright, head out. We'll handle this."

"Roger, senior," Layla responded, snapping back into focus.

With a final glance at the battle raging around her, she turned her mecha and dashed away from the collapsing laboratory site.

Behind her, the ground shook with every step of the massive dark mecha, the sickening sound of crushing buildings echoing through the air.

Her teammates continued their fierce battle, their mechas darting around the giant like determined wasps.
