Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Beginnings Pt.3

"Now as I was saying 'The Obelisks', well, to keep it simple... They are structures that govern this world and us humans who live in it… And you, my boy, are chosen by them to receive the gift of power that only 0.004% of the people in the whole world have received. And let me tell you... Even among them, you are special. I something in you, something which is better than them... The Academy will help you and hone you into into the best version of yourself. So what do you say, Wanna take my offer?"

Ember didn't need to think much about it at all, His life had suddenly taken a 180° turn; he didn't know if it was for the better or the worse, but it couldn't have been much worse than living his whole life paralyzed with no one to take care of him or Dead.

"Yes, I will take your offer."

Carasan's eyes lit up as he gave a warm smile to ember.

"Well, this was much easier than I anticipated." Carasan said as he took off a small ring of his finger and threw it in front of ember. It rapidly expanded to a massive size, big enough for an elephant to pass through as a purple vortex of energy appeared in it.

"Well, Shall we change the scenery a bit." He said, jumping into the massive ring, beckoning Ember to do the same.

'Oh well, This looks highly dangerous and could potentially kill me. But why do I feel this weird sense of thrill... My heart is beating louder than ever. It's telling me one thing on repeat... JUMP!'

And so That's exactly what Ember did, He took a small run-up and dove into the Ring. And in an instant he was teleported to what seemed like a Victorian-era mansion. All around him were fancy lamp, furniture, chandeliers and all sorts of things that he had only seen in those historical British dramas.

"I am glad that you liked it." Carasan spoke, standing by a table with prepared tea. "Welcome to my humble abode, Now why don't you get comfy, We can discuss further over tea."

Ember did as Carasan asked and got comfortably seated on a chair as Carasan poured him some tea.

"I have to say... I have never seen such a place; it's amazing," Ember said with an Awe.

"Ah yes, I decorated it myself; I am glad you liked." Carasan said as Ember looked around even more, Until his gaze landed on a mirror.

At first Ember wasn't even able to recognise his own reflection; he had changed that much. But surprisingly, it was his new strange hair that helped him recognise himself. After all, nobody else would have hair such hair as his, or, to phrase it more correctly, would want to have hair such his.

"Man… I look like a clown," Ember sighed, loudly enough for Carasan to chime in.

"Oh, If I were you, I wouldn't worry about the changes to your body If your physical appearance has changed, which I assume it has. Since I assume 'Normal' people don't have such eccentric hair, it's a good sign the more drastic the physical changes, the higher the Mana count and potential." Carasan explained, "And Besides that, In our world, There certainly are appearances which are much much stranger than yours. Trust me, you look fine, You would surely steal a lot of ladies's hearts like that."

Ember was just happy that he didn't look like a joker, He would just avoid the last line about ladies, deeming it a joke while in reality it was a compliment.

Ember picked up the cup from the table, He still wasn't used to utilising his own body to do things just now.

"Well, Now that you are here rest, I will explain rest of the things tomorrow, It's pretty late anyway," Carasan said as clapped twice. "Barhar, would you please accompany our young friend here and show him the guest room, Oh and get him dinner in the bedroom; I will be heading out."

"As you command, sire," Ember saw a man step out of the shadows in a butler's outfit.

Ember looked at Carasan, who nodded and beckoned him to go with Barhar the butler. The Guest room wasn't that far.

Both Barhar and Ember remained silent as they made their way over to the Guest room, Barhar left as soon as Ember had stepped in the room.

Ember decided to not think too much, although he was a bit embarrassed to stay here since he didn't even know Carasan that well; he hadn't eaten anything the whole day, and the fact that he had already died once suppressed his embarrassment.

As Ember looked around, it was quite the Regal place. The bed was huge compared to the orphanage, not to mention the mattress was much higher quality.

On the bed there was a fresh set of Night suits; he was almost instantly going to put them on, but then he noticed a giant bathtub in the attached bathroom. Ember quickly threw away the rags that he was covering himself with and jumped into the bathtub. It was filled with hot water and some special bath salts. It seemed because it was the most relaxing bath that he had ever taken, or maybe it was just because this new body was special or something.

After soaking in the bath for half an hour, Ember exited the bath completely refreshed as he put on the nightsuit and dried his hair. He had quite a lot of difficulty putting on the clothes, but buttoning the suit was so hard for him that he ended up breaking a few of the buttons before he successfully buttoned the few remaining ones, although those too had high difficulty.

After waiting for around thirty more minutes, Butler Barhar came back with dinner on a trolley. There were dishes on it that Ember had never even seen before.

"Please enjoy your dinner sir, and If you need anything there is a bell on the lamp stand besides your bed, just ring it twice and I will be here." Barhar said as he left the room.

Ember whose mouth was watering at this point jumped in on the dinner, trying everything. It was the most delicious and unique food he had ever eaten.

And this was the best day of life. After eating his fill, Ember went to sleep almost immediately. Having the best sleep he has had in his whole life.
