"Hey," a voice broke the silence. I turned to see Lily looking at me from the other bed.
"Hey," I replied, matching her tone. She chuckled softly.
"Thank you," she said, her smile radiant. For some reason, seeing her like this filled me with an inexplicable satisfaction, as though a weight I hadn't even realized I was carrying had been lifted from my chest.
"For what?" I asked, keeping the conversation alive.
"For everything," she said, her voice warm. "For giving me a reason to be happy… for giving me hope."
I stared at her in silence for a moment before smiling. "I didn't do anything, Lily. If anything, you're the one who saved me," I admitted.
