Chereads / [HP x SL] The Desired Heir / Chapter 2 - Minerva McGonagall

Chapter 2 - Minerva McGonagall

1985

Hogwarts

The sky was covered in veil of night, the stars shining brightly in the cloudless sky, while in the Headmaster's office of Hogwarts, Deputy Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall and Headmaster Albus Dumbledore were looking at the name written in the Book of Admittance by the Quill of Acceptance.

"Edward BlackHeart..." said Dumbledore thoughtfully.

"How much sense does it make to accept a Muggle Royal family member into Hogwarts, Albus?" said Minerva McGonagall skeptically.

"The Quill of Acceptance's decision is final Minerva, we will have to send him a letter of acceptance when he turns 11." said Albus Dumbledore thoughtfully as he stroked his long white beard.

Albus Dumbledore was rightly quite lost in thought, calculating the potential impact of this boy would have on the Wizarding World, as in almost 1000 years of Hogwarts history, there had never been a Muggle Royal family member who had attended Hogwarts.

Minerva McGonagall could only sigh wearily and hope for the best, knowing that Dumbledore's comment about the Quill of Acceptance was true...

Palace of BlackHearts

McGonagall, accompanied by the Palace's Butler, walked through corridors filled with portraits and luxury items, finally reaching a black iron door with dragon designs on it.

The Butler slowly and professionally opened the door by holding the two handles of the door.

As the door opened and the view of the room was revealed, the first thing that caught McGonagall's attention was a boy with black hair and purple eyes sitting in a black leather armchair next to a fireplace filled with dancing flames, leaning back with a calm and noble air, his legs crossed, and carefully examining McGonagall with his calm and stoic face from where he sat.

After the butler opened the doors completely, he escorted McGonagall to the armchair directly opposite the fireplace, and then calmly stood next to his Master's armchair.

The boy maintained his calm expression and continued to examine McGonagall. His purple eyes could see McGonagall's magical energy.

''Your Majesty, this Miss claims to be a professor at a magical school called Hogwarts, and I can confirm that she is a witch from what I have seen with my own eyes.'' said Alfred, the butler who had raised the young duke since his parents died at an early age and who had served both his father and grandfather.

McGonagall's authoritarian and stern face did not change despite the butler's words, but there was still a curious look in her eyes towards the butler, because when she had cast the spell to persuade the butler, the butler had shown a worried expression with a slight frown on his professional face instead of being surprised, and although this worry was not currently visible on his professional face, it was slightly evident in his eyes when he looked at the young duke.

Minerva looked at Alfred for a moment longer before turning her gaze from him to the Young Duke and spoke.

"Mr. BlackHeart, I am Minerva McGonagall. I am the Transfiguration Professor and Deputy Headmistress at Hogwart School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," she said in a calm and authoritative voice, then she took out a letter envelope from her emerald green and black detailed robes and placed it on the table within easy reach of Edward.

"This is your acceptance letter and inside the envelope is a list of the materials needed for Hogwarts," Minerva added calmly after placing the letter envelope on the table.

Edward did not lose his composure and in the next moment the letter envelope was covered in a purple light and flew to Edward's face and opened, revealing the acceptance letter and the list of materials needed, and they hung in the air in front of Edward's face, shining with the same purple light.

Minerva was a little surprised by this effortless use of magic, but her expression immediately returned to its calm and authoritative state.

"May I refuse?" Edward said, speaking for the first time, his voice calm and good enough for a nobleman, and deep for a child.

Minerva was surprised by the sudden and unexpected question, but did her best not to show it on her face.

"Of course, Mr. BlackHeart, it is entirely your choice whether or not you join our school," she said in her usual calm and authoritative tone, using Occlumency to instantly calm her mind.

''Choice...'' Edward muttered as his gaze dropped to the ground for a moment and his eyes narrowed.

''Does this mean I have other options besides your school?'' Edward asked as he focused his gaze on Minerva again and his stoic and calm face returned.

Minerva was surprised again by Edward's question but this time her face did not change as she was actively using occlumency.

''Yes Mr. BlackHeart there are many other magical schools in the world but Hogwarts is the best and oldest magical school in the world.'' Minerva said calmly and with a hint of pride in her voice.

Edward thought briefly about Minerva's words, then picked up the acceptance letter that was still floating in the air with a purple light.

Edward read the letter quickly and saw the time limit, then calmly turned his head towards his butler and asked.

''What exactly did the professor do to convince you that she was a witch?'' he asked calmly.

Alfred, who listened to the conversation between Minerva and Edward carefully and with a bit of concern for his master, answered the question immediately.

''She turned the leaves of plants into iron needles, your majesty.''

Edward was surprised by the answer, now even more curious about the extent of his powers, which he had learned were magic.

''Can you turn inanimate things into living things, professor?'' he asked, quickly suppressing his surprise and putting his calm expression back on his face

Minerva gave a small smile with her eyes closed at the question and the short-term excitement of Edward, who was trying to act like an adult but was still a child inside, then she extended her hand to the table in front of her and the blue jeweled ring on her finger started to shine, then a blue magic circle appeared in front of her hand and the shape of the table instantly started to change and took the shape of a Bear.

Alfred tried to reflexively step in front of his master as soon as the bear appeared, but he had to stay in place because Edward was holding his arm.

Edward, on the other hand, was aware that the being in front of him was not alive because of his eyes that could see the spell, but a slight admiration and excitement appeared on his face because of McGonagall's transfiguration, but these were immediately suppressed and his calm and stoic face remained fixed.

McGonagall, on the other hand, could see the excitement and admiration that appeared and disappeared on Edward's face in an instant, so the corners of her lips slightly raised at this image.

After Minerva thought the show was enough, she instantly canceled the spell by waving her hand that her ring was attached to, and the bear returned to its previous state.

After Edward collected his thoughts, he asked the questions in his mind calmly. ''First of all, Professor, can you enlighten me a little bit about the Other Magical Schools and can I change my school immediately or a few years later after I accept to join your school?''

''In Europe, there are prestigious schools such as Durmstrang in the north of the continent and Beauxbatons in France, apart from Hogwarts, but of course, the schools in Europe are not limited to these and if you meet the requirements of the school you want to go to, Hogwarts will not prevent your transfer.'' McGonagall said calmly and in a slightly gentler voice, although not much.

Edward was lost in thought at McGongall's words. He wasn't sure that Hogwarts provided the best education as he claimed and he didn't think he would have any trouble in those schools either, after all, despite his young age, he could speak more than 10 languages fluently, including French, and he had enough knowledge about many countries in Europe to live comfortably there, but he was sure that wizards and witches, as they called themselves, had their own society and were quite different, after all, a society without magic and a society with magic couldn't be expected to be similar to each other and Edward didn't even know where he could get information about this society, so for now, going to Hogwarts and changing his school if he found the education worse than claimed was the safest choice for now.

Edward lifted his gaze from the floor and fixed his frowning eyebrows as he was lost in his thoughts, putting his calm and stoic expression back on his face.

"I accept to go to Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall."

After hearing the words she was waiting for, McGonagall got up from the couch and straightened her robes, then looked at Edward and spoke calmly.

''Very well Mr. BlackHeart then I will accompany you to Diagon Alley this weekend to get the items on your list of needs.''

''Thank you Professor but how exactly will I get my school supplies? I don't think our papers have much value in the Magical World.''

''There is a bank called Gringotts in Diagon Alley where you can convert a certain amount of pounds into Galleons every year.'' McGonagall replied calmly.

Edward nodded calmly as he understood and then the two politely said their goodbyes before Alfred began escorting McGonagall back through the halls.

"Do they actually use brooms and wear pointy hats?" Edward wondered aloud, a hint of surprise evident in his voice.

Author:

English is not my native language so please let me know if you see any spelling mistakes.

I have a lot of ideas and thoughts in my head right now and the idea for this fanfic suddenly came to my mind and I spent most of my day thinking about this idea and when I realized that thinking was not enough, I decided to put my thoughts in writing.

First of all, I need your ideas about the economy of the Wizarding World, for example:

How much should the Malfoys and Blacks' net worth be in Galleons?

How many pounds should Muggleborns be able to convert into Galleons annually?

... etc.

Secondly, do you think I should use dwarves instead of goblins? As for why I have this idea, when I think of goblins, I think of barbaric, short and green monsters, but the Goblins in the Harry Potter world are more similar to Dwarves. Also, in my plan, I need goblins as monsters because I am planning to use the Gates in Solo Leveling. The logic of opening the gates will be a bit similar to the creation of cursed spirits in JJK.

And probably lastly, should I kill James and Lily or keep them alive? And If you want them alive, do you think I should give Harry a twin sister?

I'm waiting for your questions about the Chapter here!

One of the questions I think you will ask will be about rings and magic circles so I will make an explanation here.

The power difference between Solo Leveling and the Harry Potter universe is incredibly large so I needed to make some changes to this alternate universe to make it more balanced so I gave this Harry Potter universe a big power up and I will make many more changes and I am trying very hard to write a logical backstory for it.
