Chereads / [HP x SL] The Desired Heir / Chapter 5 - Ollivanders

Chapter 5 - Ollivanders

Percy Weasley, the Gryffindor Prefect at Hogwarts, and Penelope Clearwater, the Ravenclaw Prefect, were currently guiding two Muggleborns and their families through the streets of Diagon Alley.

One of these Muggleborn girls was Hermione Granger, the daughter of a dentist Muggle couple with brown bushy hair and brown eyes like her hair. She had an excited and ecstatic expression on her face.

The other girl had long and wavy snow white hair, icy blue eyes and very white skin, all of which made her look like an angel. This girl was Alisa Evangelina. She didn't have the excited expression on her face like Hermione's, she had no emotion on her face at all.

Alisa and Hermione followed Percy and Penelope in front, while their families followed behind them.

While Hermione's parents mostly talked among themselves and looked around in amazement, they occasionally tried to include Alisa's aunt Annabella Evangelina in their conversation.

Annabella had light blonde hair like most Evangelinas and green eyes which were less common in the family.

The Evangelina family is a noble house with a rich and noble history in Spain. According to official records, the family's history dates back to the 14th century. The last head of the house was Annabella's sister Phoebe, but she almost died after Alisa's birth and her body was very weak after birth, which led to her death a few months after birth.

It was not a known fact in the Evangelina family who Alisa's father was, but no one dared to question it, after all, Phoebe's will clearly declared Alisa as the heir to all the House's assets, but since Alisa was still a baby, she needed a regent, and this caused confusion in the family, until Annabella showed up with a letter bearing her sister's signature and the Matriarch's seal.

The letter clearly showed Phoebe's handwriting, the content of the letter was Phoebe's kind request to Annabella to look after her daughter and therefore she appointed her twin sister Annabella as regent.

Back to Alisa and Hermione, these two were classmates in primary school and while Hermione was ostracized because of her formality and Know-It-All compared to her other classmates, Alisa was ostracized because of her insensitivity and being scary compared to the others and these two ostracized friends became friends.

The most important thing Hermione noticed about Alisa at the beginning of their friendship was that her beautiful bestie could not understand emotions at all and therefore could not convey her emotions.

Hermione has been trying to teach Alisa more about emotions since that day and even though they are progressing at a snail's pace, progress is progress, right?

Evangelina and the Granger families had converted their pounds into Galleons at Gringotts and were now heading to Ollivanders, which would be their first stop for shopping, under the guidance of Percy and Penelope.

After a short walk, they finally arrived at Ollivanders. They quickly walked inside and the first thing that caught their attention was a sales counter right across from the entrance, a few shelves and stairs attached to the wall going up.

"Welcome little witches!" they heard a voice from above them and when they turned their heads towards the direction of the voice, the sight they saw was a little unbelievable for them.

This average-sized store, which looked like a simple and elegant store from the outside, seemed to have no end to its ceiling. There were circular stairs attached to the wall, countless shelves built into the walls, and of course, there was an old man whose body glowed with a bluish aura, slowly flying down to the ground.

"Oh! Percy Weasley and Penelope Clearwater, I still remember the day I gave you both your rings, even your ring-" the man who started talking excitedly and looked like a mad scientist was cut off by Percy.

''I am well aware of the materials of my own ring, Mr. Ollivander, but now it seems like it would be better if you helped these little witches find their rings.'' he said calmly and with some respect for the old man, after all, making magical rings was both a very skilled and dangerous profession, and the man in front of him was probably the best magical ring maker in the world.

Ollivander's attention this time turned to the little witches he had greeted earlier and smiled.

''So which of you would like to go first?'' he asked.

Hermione involuntarily stepped forward due to her excitement, but before she could pull back or get mad at herself for being so impatient, the old man had grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the middle of the store.

Before Hermione could realize what had happened, a white column appeared from under the wooden floors of the store, and immediately after the column appeared, a blue magic circle appeared on the floor, enclosing Hermione and the column.

''Put your dominant hand on the column, please.''

Hermione complied with the old man's orders, who looked like a mad scientist, and placed her dominant hand on the smooth surface of white column, which reached her belly, and as she placed her hand, a blue magic circle appeared on it, completely covering the area where she placed her hand.

Shortly after the circle appeared, some of the rings on the shelves began to fly and circle around the magic circle Hermione was in, and after the magic circle where Hermione placed her hand absorbed some of Hermione's magic, the circle turned brown, and then the other rings returned to their places until only one ring remained.

The magic circles that Hermione was in and had placed her hand in faded away, and the only ring left, a ring with a brown stone on it, flew up in front of Hermione's face, and fell into her palm as Hermione pulled her hand from the column.

''You seem to have a strong affinity for the element Earth, Miss?''

''Hermione, Hermione Granger.'' Hermione said as she looked at the ring in her hand in awe, trying to figure out exactly what had just happened.

''The stone in the ring you have in your hand is a piece of the heart of an Earth Dragon, Miss Granger, I am sure it will accompany you well on your journey through the Wizarding World.'' Ollivander said as Hermione was still examining the ring.

After Hermione finished examining the ring, she placed it on her index finger, and the ring, which was too wide for her finger at first, suddenly shrank and fit her finger perfectly.

Hermione happily looked at the ring on her finger when the door of the store opened and a black haired, purple eyed boy in elegant clothes who had the noble air that Hermione sometimes felt around Alisa, a grey haired butler like man carrying a handbag in one hand and an old woman wearing black and emerald green robes and a witch's hat entered the store.

Hermione's eyes widened when she recognized the boy because the boy in front of her was the Grand Duke of Scotland and one of the princes of the United Kingdom.

It wasn't just Hermione who recognized Edward, both Mr. and Mrs. Granger and Annabella recognized Edward immediately and were just as surprised as Hermione, if not more so.

McGonagall calmly walked towards Ollivander and introduced her purpose of coming first and then Edward.

While Edward was waiting calmly, he heard a voice from next to himself.

''You fit the description of the Cold Princes in the novels, are you like them?'' The voice was still angelic, even though it was emotionless, the owner of the voice was Alisa Evangelina.

Edward couldn't quite believe what the girl said, he couldn't understand if she was just asking out of curiosity or if she was trying to insult him because the girl's facial expression was as flat as his stoic masks and he couldn't even detect any emotion in her voice.

"Was that a compliment, my lady?" Edward asked calmly and royally as he turned his head slightly towards her.

Alisa tilted her head slightly as Edward studied her face, her expression still impassive.

"If you can see it that way," she replied in the same impassive tone as she continued to look into Edward's eyes, her head still slightly tilted.

Edward nodded calmly and looked away from her, slightly uncomfortable with the way she was looking at himself.

Hermione, Mr. and Mrs. Granger, and especially Annabella were all surprised by the casual tone Alisa had just spoken to a member of the Royal family.

Hermione knew that Alisa was simply trying to get Edward's attention in order to engage him in conversation, as she had taught Alisa, so she knew that she was responsible for what had just happened.

Annabella was calculating whether Alisa's actions would cause her any trouble, she really had enough of this horrible girl! But she still kept that fake gentle smile on her face that was almost perfect, she had to continue her role as the gentle and caring aunt.

Just as Alisa opened her mouth to speak again, Ollivander, who had finished talking to Minerva, addressed her.

"Now it's your turn, young witch."

Alisa gave Edward one last quick look before nodding and walking to where Hermione had been and another blue magic circle appeared under the pillar and Alisa.

Alisa placed her hand on the white pillar and a blue magic circle appeared under her hand and some rings flew off the shelves and circled around the magic circle that Alisa was in and after absorbing some of her magic like it did to Hermione, the circle glowed white and the other rings returned to their places until only one ring remained.

A brightly shining ring with a white stone flew towards Alisa and landed in her palm, Alisa examined the ring with barely visible curiosity in her eyes before placing it on her finger and the ring shrank to fit her finger perfectly.

Edward was quite curious about Alisa because her magical energy was more intense than anyone he had ever seen before, he had been observing the magical energy in everyone's body since he had stepped foot in Diagon Alley, so it was quite striking and he was quite certain that she was a rather strange girl after their little encounter.

"Oh! You seem to have quite an affinity for life, young lady, the stone in your ring is made from the crystal eyes of a Phoenix." Ollivander said excitedly.

"I am quite certain that you will achieve great things, Miss?"

"Alisa, Alisa Evangelina," Alisa replied after looking at her ring for another second, in the same emotionless voice.

After Alisa got her ring, it was finally Edward's turn.

Edward walked to the white pillar in the middle of the store like the others did and placed his hand on the smooth surface of the pillar that reached his belly and the blue magic circle appeared again.

Many rings from the shelves started to revolve around the magic circle that Edward was in, just like before, then the blue magic circle on the pillar absorbed some of Edward's magic and the circle started to glow purple and the other rings started to return to their shelves until only one ring remained.

The last ring was a beautiful ring with a black settling and a purple stone on it and glowed purple.

The ring floated towards Edward and Edward quickly caught the ring in the air and then quickly put it on his index finger, the ring shrank and fit perfectly on Edward's finger.

Alisa studied Edward and his ring with her emotionless face, the boy had caught her utmost interest because the boy's magic was the most intense magical energy she had ever felt, and because of the mental bond she shared with Merlin, she had also felt that Merlin was shocked when he saw the boy, and even when she tried to reach out to him mentally, he remained silent, which had increased Alisa's curiosity even more, so she tried to talk to the boy as she had learned perfectly from Hermione, but they couldn't talk much more because the boy was shy and the old man who looked like a mad scientist had called her, but Alisa didn't mind that, after all, since the boy had come here to get his ring, this boy would also go to Hogwarts like herself.

Alisa hadn't realized she was in the Harry Potter Universe until she met Hermione, because the world she was in wasn't exactly how Alisa remembered it from the books or the movies, but some things were still the same.

"We seem to have quite the opposite pair here," Ollivander said, referring to Alisa as he began explaining Edward's ring.

''From what I can see you seem to have a strong affinity for Death and darkness, Mr. BlackHeart, but I cannot say exactly what kind of dragon the stone in your ring belongs to, as I did not make this ring, it is one of my ancestors' works, but I am sure you will achieve great things, and hopefully in a good way.'' Ollivander said thoughtfully.

Edward nodded at Ollivander's explanation and looked at his ring for a moment before looking up.

''So how much is it, Mr. Ollivander?'' he asked calmly and in his usual royal tone.

Ollivander smiled with his eyes closed, then gestured to the entire shop.

''Every ring here for Hogwarts Students costs the same, 1 Galleon.''

Edward nodded calmly, Alfred, who had calmly observed everything and was tired of being shocked by now, calmly took 1 Galleon out of Galleon pouch and gave it to Ollivander.

''Now that we have your ring, let's go to the other shops we need to visit, Mr. BlackHeart,'' said McGonagall, who had calmly observed everything, and after saying goodbye to Ollivander, she started walking towards the door.

Edward and Alfred started to follow her as usual, Edward had not forgotten to say goodbye to Ollivander and thank him before leaving.

Alisa suppressed her curiosity about Edward for now, and her mind began to calculate how she could make a certain Wizard, her Great Great... Grandfather, speak.

Merlin, who was shocked after seeing Edward, shivered as he felt the tortures Alisa planned to inflict on him because of their mental bond, and cursed himself for thinking he had thought it wise to seal a piece of his mind and soul into a necklace to guide his descendants in future generations.

Why did Percy and Penelope accompany the Muggleborns instead of the Hogwarts Professors?

Because there are not enough Professors at Hogwarts for all the Muggleborns, so Prefects like Percy and Penelope can be assigned to assist the Hogwarts Professors with these tasks when the Professors are not enough.

Why does McGonagall accompany Edward?

Because Edward is a member of the royal family and the Grand Duke of Scotland, so they could not place an ordinary student with him. I would also like to point out that even though Alisa is from a noble Muggle house, her house is not close to Edward's status and Edward is a bigger threat to the secrecy of the Wizarding World than Alisa. So it's only natural that Dumbledore would assign McGonagall to Edward.
