The wind blew strongly over the night. Winged beasts roamed the skies. Huge packs of monstrous dogs ruled the ground. The darkness showed no mercy to anyone who dared step in its claws. The dying screams of a man could be heard across the plains. No one would come to his rescue. The dogs tore into his flesh and gnawed at his bones. He was dead. Nothing could save him. One of the dogs looked up and started wagging its tail in excitement. It barked and the other dogs ran towards a figure emerging from the shadows. The figure was a woman. She was dressed in a flowing cloak that hid her figure from the eye of the writer. She bent down to pat the heads of the dogs. "Did you guys do this?" The dogs barked in affirmation. "Good boys". She stood and looked into the darkness and saw a flame burning a little over 200 kilometres from her location. "Found you, Devil" she smiled and advanced as quietly as she came.
Untying his ropes, Mirai sat up in pain. He looked at his environment. All he saw as a fire and his kidnapper sitting at the flame. "Hey!" called Mirai. "You awake?" asked Hyung from his spot. "Yeah. Who's asking?" Hyung beckoned at him to come to the fire. With suspicions about this person, he walked warily to the fireplace. "Take a seat" Hyung said, pointing to a wooden log by the fire. Mirai sat down and saw that Hyung was cooking a fish. The hunger of not eating for days was taking his toll on him. "I know you're hungry." Hyung picked up one and passed it to him. "It isn't poisoned, right?" Mirai asked. "Trust me" Hyung said. Mirai took a bite. The flavours of roasted fish melted through his tongue. It was delicious. He hungrily ate and took another skewer. Hyung passed him a water bottle and he drank it like it was wine. As he drank the water, he studied Hyung carefully. His eyes turned a shade of red and he stared intently at him
"His name is Hyung Danmyeong. He is a 23 year old male and he has a fire attribute. That's all we can see. Something is blocking us"
Intrigued, Mirai stared at the handsome black haired man whose face was illuminated by the fire. The flame crackled around him as if responding to its master. He dropped his bottle and spoke. "Who are you?" he asked. Hyung finally lifted his head to look at his questioner and responded "I think you already know that, Prophet". Mirai knew that this guy would prove a hard nut to crack. He stood and walked to the open door "Let's take a walk".
The cold wind blasted through their faces. Mirai felt a little cold despite the jacket he wore. Hyung was undeterred. "What do you think about this world?" Hyung asked. "I don't know. It's shitty, I guess" Mirai answered unperturbed by the curve ball that Hyung threw at him. "You could call it that but that's not what I want to hear" "So what do you want to hear?" "Unforgiving. That's the word" "I wouldn't call it that."
Hyung turned at him and pointed to the sky "You call that bad? No sun. No moon. Not even a damn comet and you call it bad". Mirai looked at the expression on Hyung's face and saw how pained it was. "This is uncomfortable. Why did you bring me here?" Mirai asked, trying to avoid the question. Hyung turned away and said "I want you to tell me how to protect those dear to me." "Me? Wait… Hold the hell up! You want me to tell the future for you! Hell no!" shouted Mirai. "I'm out of here!" he said as he stormed off. Hyung didn't look at him and smirked to himself "He'll come running back". The screams quietened down but in a little time, the night would be reawakened by the terrified screams of a voice in the distance.
Mirai walked down the street into an abandoned apartment complex overgrown with weeds and ridden with rats. "He wants me to tell the future. Do I look like a diviner? I mean, I am a prophet but that's only for like a day or two. He should go fuck himself" he thought as he climbed the stairs to the top of the complex. He looks over the ruined city. He sees nothing but emptiness, desolation and darkness. "Looks like the heavens have abandoned this place". He looks down and sees what he wasn't meant to see. He had just intruded on a pack of winged beasts munching on their human meal. "Shit!" he thought as he backed away. His luck couldn't get worse but it did because he stepped on a metallic can that made a loud creaking sound. "Well…..I'm fucked" He starts running and a mighty gust of wind bursts from his back. He looks and sees a monster with three pairs of arms fitted with protruding claws and a pair of avian feet. It had a large head and a curved beak. On its back where two pairs of powerful insect wings. It looked at the intruder and screeched in a large voice for its brethren. Four of its kind flew up and chased after Mirai.
"AHHHHHHH!!!!" screamed Mirai as he ran from building top to building top. He jumped down from one and barely made the jump to the next. Fear had overtaken his mind and he ran like his life depended on it. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING!!!? MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!!!!" He ran down a flight of stairs. One of the beasts took a lunge at him but he barely dodged it and ran out through the door. He stopped and looked at the sky to see hundreds of monsters flying overhead. "Well, I lived a shitty life and I'll die in a shitty way". He knelt and accepted his fate but a bright light cascaded him and he heard the large boom of an explosion. He looked up to see a blazing Hyung looking down on him
"God?" Mirai asked in awe at the bright magnificence before him. "If I kill them all, will you do it for me?" Hyung asked. The heat burned his face but despite the circumstances, Mirai looked at him in disgust "I said NO! Leave it at that" The fire went off and a chilling cold surrounded Mirai. "Have it your way then" said Hyung as he walked out of the range of the monsters.
The beasts had surrounded Mirai, about to eat his flesh. Death had gripped him. Its claws had surrounded his neck. The monsters had picked him up and started ripping his skin. Mirai was petrified. He couldn't move, nor could he think. He looked at Hyung sitting down watching him getting mauled by monsters. He couldn't hold it in any longer.
"I'LL DO IT!!!!"
"Say it again"
"I SAID I'LL FUCKING DO IT!!"
"Good"
A warm fire overtook Mirai. He looked and saw a wall of fire fighting for his sake. Its beauty couldn't be described. The writer looks at it and one thing comes to mind
"FIREWORKS!"
