Six months had passed ….
Amelia had returned to MA to finish her doctorate, finally tying up what she'd started years ago. Professor Lewis and his colleagues took over the majority of her work for Zhao Corp, letting her concentrate on her studies.
Still, her mind kept wandering back to Taipei. During those months, Amelia visited Mr. Zhao a few times, maintaining the pretense that she was still Nick's wife. He had passed just a week after the divorce, much sooner than doctors expected.
"Sean, Maddie! Let's finish up your packing!" Amelia called from the kitchen, her voice echoing through the quiet house.
The kids, each with their luggage in tow, appeared at the top of the stairs, hastily moving downstairs. They were leaving for the airport soon, and Amelia knew her nerves couldn't take missing this flight.
