The moment I stepped into our suite, I couldn't hold back the excitement bubbling inside me. I shut the door behind me, leaned against it for a second, and let out a squeal before practically running to the bed to grab my phone. My fingers fumbled as I scrolled through my contacts, finally landing on Arlene's name. I hit the call button, and after two rings, her bright face popped up on the screen. She was wearing her oversized glasses, a messy bun on her head, and a green facemask plastered across her face.
"Finally!" she said, drawing out the word as she adjusted her glasses. "Ohh little miss 'I'm not sure what to do with Jake', where have you been? You disappeared off the face of the earth!"
I bit my lip, barely able to contain my grin. "Arlene… I have something to tell you."
She squinted at me through the screen. "If you're about to tell me you adopted a puppy or got a new haircut, I swear…"
"I got married!" I blurted out.
