The morning light poured into the room through the gauzy curtains, casting a golden glow across the bed where Jake and I lay. The scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted from the small tray he had brought to the bedside earlier, a thoughtful surprise he had prepared while I was still half-asleep.
I was nestled under the covers, my head resting on his chest as his fingers traced lazy circles on my arm. The steady rhythm of his heartbeat was soothing, and for the first time in days, I felt completely at ease.
"You're spoiling me, you know," I murmured, tilting my head to look up at him. His blue eyes crinkled with a smile that made my heart flutter.
"You deserve it," he said softly, brushing a strand of hair from my face. "Besides, I like seeing you like this. Relaxed. Happy."
I laughed lightly and stretched, letting out a satisfied sigh. "Well, you're succeeding. That coffee smells amazing. What's next? Breakfast in bed?"
