"Sexy beachwear?" Laura repeated with a mischievous grin, holding up a flowy cover-up and a bikini set that looked a size too small for me. "You'll thank me later, trust me."
I crossed my arms and frowned. "Laura, I'm not wearing that."
Her eyes widened in mock shock. "Why not? It's perfect for the beach! Come on, Arlene, live a little. Show off that glow, you're pregnant, not invisible." She let out with a little naughty smile which made me chuckle a bit.
That only lasted a second though. I sighed, feeling the knot of discomfort tighten in my chest. I knew she meant well, but the idea of slipping into something so revealing felt… unsettling. Deep down, I was more self-conscious than I wanted to admit. My body was changing, and while I tried to embrace it, some days were harder than others.
"I'm not planning on swimming," I said, avoiding her gaze. "I'd rather wear something comfortable."
