Jake
I barely waited for the car to stop before I threw open the door and bolted inside. My mind was spinning with anger, frustration, and a growing sense of helplessness. Laura was still unconscious, and Chloe's lies were spreading like wildfire.
Pacing back and forth in the living room, I clenched and unclenched my fists, trying to figure out my next move. My jaw ached from gritting my teeth too hard, but I couldn't stop. Chloe had to pay for what she'd done, but I had no idea how to get to her without making things worse.
The sound of the doorbell broke through my thoughts. My heart jumped, part hope, part panic. What now?
I opened the door, only to be greeted by a wall of reporters. Cameras flashed, microphones thrust toward me as voices overlapped, shouting questions.
"Mr. Robbins, is it true you cheated on Laura the night before your wedding?"
"Do you deny the allegations made by Chloe?"
"Why was the wedding called off?"
