After Jake left for work, I decided it was the perfect day to do something special for Arlene and my aunt. I went into the kitchen and got to work on a big pot of her favorite soup, stirring in all the ingredients I knew she loved. I also prepared a breakfast tray with fresh fruit, eggs, pancakes, and my aunt's favorite tea. The smells were comforting, and it felt good to put my love into something tangible for the two special people in my life.
Once everything was packed up, I quickly got dressed, filled my arms with the food containers, and headed over to Arlene's. The smile that spread across her face as she opened the door was priceless and made it all worthwhile.
"Laura!" she exclaimed, pulling me in for a hug.
"Sweetheart!" I exclaimed as we both exchanged air kisses.
"Oh my god, you brought all this for us? This looks amazing! Is that your homemade soup?" She let out as she took some of the things from me.
